The end of a beginning
Time line: married usc. I'm black my husband is white. Field office Raleigh/Durham NC. Current status student on F1. I have been working without ead for more than two years (that was my biggest fear) but kept my student status.

Pd 1/26/17
Bio 3/6/17
Ead 5/8/17
GC 5/11/17 "card is been produced"
Total process 3.5months

I had my interview today. It was scheduled for 1:15. We were called in by an IO about mid-late sixties around 1:30pm. I think he's from somewhere around Singapore or Asian not too sure. He had a mean face initially but when we entered the room, I noticed that he didn't speak much English.

He asked us to swear to say the truth... We sat and he asked why my name is slightly different from my birth certificate. I said I use my baptimal name and that where I come from, people have multiple names and that I choose to use my current name. He then asked me my current status, I said student. He asked for my initial approval to F1 and I-20 because I came in as a B1. I gave both to him. He said you have been here for 10 years? I said yes. I told him the date I entered the u.s. He went and made copies because I told him those were originals. He came back and asked if we had pictures.

We gave him a ton and my husband started to tell him about our wedding. He asked if there was anything else we wanted to show him and my husband said what would he like to see that we had everything. He said how about bank statement. We handed him utility bills, our house closing papers. I didn't give him statement because I didn't want him to see that I was working. He didn't remember he had said statement. He was overwhelmed by the house papers and he just smiled and said you're approved. You will get your card in the mail. That was it. I asked if I needed my passport signed, but he said unless I was traveling out immediately and I said no. He ordered the card while we were sitting there.

We asked him if I could change my last name to my husband's and also my address because we are moving to reflect on the new card. He said absolutely. He asked for a name change proof and I gave him the petition I had filed with the court which was not the final document but I think he didn't know either. He just looked at it and gave me back. He changed my last name on the 485 form, and the computer. My husband wrote out our new address on the paper he handed us and he changed that also on the system. We shook hands and headed out.

We get in the car and I checked "your new card is been produced"

I was just screaming...friends God is faithful. I am not sure what you believe, but try him this time. He will come through. Trust him, allow him prove to you that he is God all by himself.

I pray you all arrive to your heart desire very soon.

Cuz you gotta have Faith
Hello everyone! I want to thank God first for this opportunity and then thank you all  for sharing their experiences in this forum. Every single case is different and unique, but at the end we’re all here for the same purpose. it’s been a long wait for some, and to those who still waiting have faith, cuz that you have been waiting will come soon or later. i want to share my experience with this forum, because i’m in debt with all the people who have share their experience and i use those experience to prepare myself, reading this forum everyday and learning from this process. I don’t want to be one of those who just disappear after they reach their goals. my post is gonna be extensive, but i hope you all will appreciate it.

Today i received my approval letter for my Green Card, it’s been a whole journey in the process.
Adjustment of Status through Marriage. No lawyer, did everything by myself. I’m sorry but i don’t trust lawyers. Specially when my case is not that complicated

This is my time line:

November 12. Package sent to USCIS (i-485,i-130,i-765)
November 15. Package received from USCIS Chicago Lockbox
November 27. Checks cashed from USCIS (make sure there’s money in the account, cuz they tried to withdraw the money earlier but there was not enough money)
November 29. Received notification for i-485 and i-130
December 2. Notice of rejection for i-765. they said no fee was included.
December 3. I replied with a letter and another signed form explaining to USCIS that im filling concurrently and the fee is embedded on the i-485.
December 5. received fingerprints appointment.
December 20. Did my fingerprints.
December 23. Received appointment for fingerprints (again). Apparently this one was for i-765
December 27: Received RFE because my husband taxes were incomplete. He forgot to file 2015. Who forgets to file?
January 06: Walk in for my other fingerprint appointment. original date was January 12, but i found out i could do it after my first appointment.
February 23. Finally responde RFE. I could have done it earlier, but waiting for the IRS transcript was too much. (whoever saying that you can not send the income tax you submitted to the IRS, is lying. they don’t know about transcripts)

*** Just FYI. at the NBC, there’s no officer checking the paper work. They hire a company and give them guidelines with the basic documents the case have to include before they send it to the field office. That’s when the Officer tells you if you are missing something or not.

March 15. received notification saying: Your case is ready to schedule for interview.

March 20. Call Service Center and did a Service Request for my EAD. 90+ from my original date.
March 23. Received letter of approval EAD
March 29. Received EAD on the mail.
March 31. Received Interview notice for May 02
May 02: Interview date. Not approved in the spot. Case was hold for review.
May 05: i-485 online status changed to “approved”
May 08: I-130 online status changed to “approved”
May 10: I-485 online status changed to “card was mailed”
May 10: Received both letters of approval.

The interview: It last for probably 15 min. i described my interview in a previews post. But never think you are over prepared. Every single piece of evidence you can take with you don’t hesitate to take it to the interview. even if you won’t be asked for. better have it in hand than been asked for something and not be able to provide. * Go to your local police and get a full background check, even if they don’t ask for it. ask relatives, friends for affidavit of marriage support, get your medical upgraded. old passports, put your whole life in a binder, so you won’t regret of not been able to provide evidence.

I've never thought to be able to adjust my status in the past, since same sex marriage was not legal. I've overstayed even knowing I wouldn't be able to adjust, but God is for everybody and he gave me this opportunity. I wish you the best to y'all.

Boston GC Interview
Hello All,

I would like to share my experience with you and maybe get some help from some of you that may have had a similar case like ours. Our Priority date is Dec 8, 2016, file in Boston,MA and we had the interview scheduled for today May 11. It was scheduled for 1 PM and we were there at 12. We ended up waiting until past 2 to be called in and then - no jokes- we were interviewed for about 2 hours none stop... We has SO much paper work with us that we thought would be a smooth interview/ But the IO seemed to get hang up on the job I do - I am a freelance web designer and also why my wife couldn't remember when we opened our joint account together - she said beginning of the year and I said before November.

This was the only 2 things that she just kept asking and asking and asking. Then she had told my wife, would it be okay If I were to send a filed agent to visit you home? And my wife said absolutely, they are more than welcome. Then she was saying to my wife - I was not int he same room with her - If I had put her up to this? MY wife said she was about to scream when the IO said that but she kept her calm saying we were in love and no, I didn't put her up to this.

Th whole experience was like this, it seemed like we couldn't please her with whatever answers we had given. She was asking my how come my previous marriage didn't work out- exactly at this tone-I said she my ex cheated on me thats why and IO was asking more and more saying why don't you share more to your current wife about your ex??

I mean the whole interview was bizarre, IO seemed to blame us for even marrying for no reason!

At the end, what I noticed is that when IO called me in, there was another person in the room asking her 'how she was doing today' and she said she was doing good and it was her fourth interview (it was 4 PM)...

My assumption was that she was a new agent at that location but the sad part is that at the end she said she will make a decision and mail it to us. After we got home it says "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed".

Can you please share your experiences if you have had anything similar like this?

Thank you and good luck to all.

RFE
Hey folks,
can someone explain to me how RFEs affect the processing time?

PD: current
USCIS received my case March 2017
Website says they are processing cases (Employment Based) as of July 2nd 2016.

They returned my Supplement J and wanted another one with original signatures. Submitted today. I assume this is an RFE.

How does it affect timeline since my documents are not yet in the queue. (given they are processing applications as of July 2nd 2016)

My Interview Experience (Dallas Field Office)
Hey there!
So I had my interview Today, there is my timeline:
PD 9/26/2016
EDA/AP combo card approved 1/13/2017
Interview date 5/11/2017

Our interview was scheduled for Today at 9:30am, we arrived 30min before the scheduled time. Officer called us in at around 9:35am I believe. He was very polite, very nice, kind towards us and he really made us feel comfortable.
He swore us. He kindly asked for our ID'sThen he asked my husband (US Citizen) to confirm his name, date of birth, address. After that the officer asked me to confirm my name, my date of birth and address. Then he proceed to ask yes/no questions from form I-485 and that was it! He didn't ask for any other evidence, and believe me I was prepared!
We had our 3 children with us and our lawyer.
The officer told me that I should hear something within 2-4 weeks. I got a text message Today at 3pm that my card is being produced. I got approved within hours! I am so happy! I am home!
I ve been with my husband for almost 9 years and we have been married for 5. We have 3 children together. I am originally from Europe. All process took about 7 months. I hope this helps you guys!
My advice to you all ,is be truthful. You have nothing to worry about if your marriage is real.
Good luck to you all!

AOS Los Angeles married to USC
PD : 01/17/17
BIO : 02/15/17 (Day 29) - Completed
EAD Card Ordered : 05/03/17 (Day 106)
I-485 Interview Scheduled : 05/04/17 (Day 107) For 06/07/17 (Day 141)
EAD Card mailed : 05/08/17 (Day 111)
EAD Delivered : 05/11/17 (Day 114)

It took a while for the EAD to come through and I made a couple of SR's (4/10 & 5/3). Funnily enough on the one on 5/3 I spoke to someone who basically just told me it was within normal time as the 90 day window no longer applied as of January this year and I would probably hear by the end of the month.

After no movement at all EAD approved and one day later the interview scheduled notice came through. So from what seemed to be lagging behind in processing time it's now shot to ahead of schedule as Los Angeles were processing I-485 for 08/07/16 as of the last bulletin which puts us about 4-5 months ahead of schedule.

The interview time is at 7:15 AM which to be honest I wasn't even aware the offices were open at‚ but it seems their hours are either from 6 AM (which I find hard to believe) or 7 AM depending on which google results you look at.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly and well. We're taking the fast interview appointment as a positive thing and hopefully we're right

Updating
Hello guys.

I can now say that my life got more sense after I got my EAD on hands. At the middle of April I applied for the SSN and the same week I received it on the mail I started a new job. Finally I'm a little busy and distracted. Im so happy to see how good things are happening in our lives. Last week I also applied for leaner permit, three times failing the test but at the end of the day "he who perseveres, conquers".
I got the card on the mail today and now I'm ready to get some practice driving.

I really hope to get interviewed soon as you to go through the end of this process as well. Regards. x
