Canada Visa

Hello everyone,

My husband and I sent our passports to NYC on Nov. 9th which were delivered on Nov. 13th. We applied to visa for Thanksgiving holiday and still are waiting to get our visas (yes, we were that stupid). Last Thursday on Nov. 29th, we got a tracking id which still does not work after a week. I have called them, used chat and emailed a number of times but none of them worked. Now, we have flight tickets next Friday and don't know if we should withdraw the application to get our passports back sooner. I don't want to waste all that effort, money and time but canceling that travel plan also will cost money. I am miserably checking status in every 15-20 mins but no update. What do you recommend? Does anyone know how much it takes to get the passport back after withdrawing the application?

I've recently applied for an visitor visa for Canada, and I've sent my passport to the Consulate General of Canada in New York (received at 28 Nov). Now I wanted to put the application on hold, and do a passport retrieve because I have an urgent flight to catch in TWO days. Do anyone know if it's possible to retrieve my passport from the consulate (not from the application center) directly in person? Please let me know. Any information is appreciated. I'm really desperate right now, I'm willing to give a $100 reward to anyone who can have my passport mailed to me.

I have no mean of contacting the consulate except for emailing them which will take weeks to reply......

I received a message from the tracking system that said “Your processed decision envelope has been collected from the Canada Visa Application Centre in , on 2018/12/05. ” And I contact VAC through the web chat. They said it meant that the courier had collected my passport from VAC.

However, until now, I still have not got any updating delivery info from the FedEx tracking system. Is it possible that VAC still did not send it out, or FedEx did not take it from VAC?

Is anyone in the same situation? How many days should I wait after receiving that message from VAC tracking system?

Anyone who's package got delivered on 20th Nov or later got tracking ID?
The vfs gloabl website still shows they are processing 19th Nov applications (from last 3 days).

Does anyone understand the difference between Tracking ID:
Subject: Vfsglobal - Requested additional details,

And “your application has dispached to IRCC...”

Mine is the 1st one received on Dec. 06 and nothing new since that day. Tracking doesn’t work

 I see that there is a delay for a lot of folks for passports sent to NYC VAC. Is it recommended to LA VAC ? Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks

The thread here have helped me and therefore i thought i will write my whole experience.
It is so frustrating that a external private firm is taking a whole month to process a simple passport stamping with no phone/chat or any kind of support. i was planning to go to NY but stopped due to some posts here.

Nov 7 - Got approval in CIC website to send the passport
No 13- send the passport along with the money order and ups return label and all the docs(consent form etc)
Got a canada ticket for 21 Nov -How stupid I was to think i can get it in one week
Nov 14 - Delivered to our guy Wilson.

No update- Started to Panic since travel in December. Started reading reviews here to estimate the timeline

Nov 29 - Planned to go to NY but read review here from rahatpuri(Nov13) that he got tracking id. dcdcdxr (Nov12) got is passport back on Nov 30 so i was so relived. The following thread

Dec 1 - FInally get the tracking it 6:44 PM- i think its a batch job which runs at this time. as been dispatched to the IRCC Office, on 2018-12-02 12:44:10 AM GMT Standard Time for processing.Please note this is an auto generated e.mail. Please do NOT reply to this email.
Note the future date of Dec 2 - Bad programming batch process i guess

Dec 5 - 10 29 AM - an envelope of your decision that has been processed has been sent from the IRCC office, on the date to the Canadian Visa Application Center at Canada Visa Application Centre, New York.
Same day passport was shipped. It is in transit right now.

10 business days to get a tracking id - Thanks giving might have impacted here
14 business days to get the passport back

I have urgent travel need as like you all. I got email notification on December 5th that my passports received by IRCC and status is under process, what will be the next status then, and how long they will take it from here? submitted at LA VAC. TIA

I had applied for a work permit and I got the original passport request on 20th November. My passport was received by new york office on 28th November. I have to leave the US on 14th of December as my J-1 here in the US ending. I authorized and send a friend of mine to request the VAC to expedite my application. They said there is nothing they can do to help and gave a timeline of 3-4 weeks from the day passport was received here. This seems contrary to the experience of some of the other members who were able to expedite the process by going to the VAC.

I was wondering if you people have any thoughts on what my options are here.

Does anyone know if I can extend the 30 day deadline on the original passport request ? If it can be done, then I am thinking of getting my passport back from the VAC and sending it again after I come back from my travel. I have a valid B1/B2 and I can come back to the US after my travel around mid/late jan. Any thoughts / info would be really appreciated.

Is there anybody who mailed their passports to the LA VAC and has got them back/is able to track them, especially those who had included all the required information/documents? My passport was delivered on 3rd Dec, and I am wondering by when I should start worrying/planning a LA trip. I need to travel abroad (not to Canada) on 1st January, and with the holidays coming up, I am worried about my passport getting stuck.

The call center said that we should not expect a tracking id before 9 working days - do we get a tracking id when they send the passport to the embassy or after they get it back?
