No response on status of passports
HI,

I submitted my & my family's passports for a Canada visitor visa in the LA VAC, which got delivered to the center on Nov 7th, received by a person named Godwin

But since then I have not received any update at all. No tracking ID, no status update, so have no idea where our passports are.

Been talking to the VAC helpline, sent multiple emails to the VFS email IDs, including the Canada embassy in LA.
The only response that I got was from Canada embassy who said that they have not received our passports.
This means that the passports are still at the VFS center in LA.

I have been speaking at the help center and the only thing that they keep doing everyday is to create a report in the system, based on which I am supposed to get a call from the VFS center in LA to update on the status. But till now, after a week of multiple such reports being created, yet to get any call or email.

I have an India trip planned for Dec 20th and I do not have any trace of our passports.

Could someone help on the following:

1. What is the best way to resolve this issue?
2. In case I would need to go to LA to trace my passports, can they give the passports back in hand for me to carry them back?
3. Does someone have a direct contact to the LA VAC so that I could call and speak to them?
4. Has someone else seen the name Godwin as a recipient of their passports or documents?
5. Is there anyone on the thread whose passports were delivered to the center on or around 7th Nov and yet to get either a tracking ID or an update?

I understand that there is a delay at the centers right now but as of today morning, it looks like that they processing applications received around the 19th of Nov. My passports got delivered on the 7th of Nov and the application was approved on Oct 25th

Any information or guidance will be really appreciated

No response on processing of Applications
Hi,

I submitted visa applications/passports to Canada VFS New York for me and my wife which were delivered to them on 13th November. After that we got an update from VFS along with tracking ID that our applications have dispatched to IRCC for processing.
But post this I haven't got any update regarding the status of the applications.
Even the tracking ID shared by them is not working. I am really now.
Is someone else facing the situation. Request all to please guide on this. As i am really worried about the passports.

under process at the IRCC Office
Hi guys,

My passport was delivered to CVAC on Nov 19. And after more than two weeks of waiting, I finally got the email from IRCC this morning. It says "Visa application, tracking ID YYYY is under process at the IRCC Office. " I read a couple of posts that there should another four emails coming in one hour. However, it has been two hours that I haven't received anything since that email...

How long can it take for IRCC to "process"? I am really worried about another long waiting time.

processing applications from 19 November 2018
Hi guys,

Is there anyone whom passport got delivered on Nov 19 get the tracking ID? I saw this note on the VFS website:

hi guys,

my situation is as follows :-
 5 nov : passport request
27 nov: passport dispatched
28 nov : passport received but tracking id still not generated

today is 4 dec and tomorrow is 5 th dec which completes the 30 day deadline.
Will my application become void if it does not reach the IRCC from the VAC tomorrow ??

Please help I am much worried.

CVAC Nyc - Forgot to add email address in the application
Hello friends,

I had shipped my passport to vfs nyc last week. While filling the application I missed to add my email address and now I am afraid that there is no other way to get the tracking id from VFS. They don’t have my email to send me a tracking id.

I would request if anyone can share any way out to get the tracking id

Hello All,

My passport got delivered on the 19th November at New York VAC and I started following up via online chat and phone calls last week. Today I received an email from Vfs with subject Vfsglobal - Requested additional details. The email says that I have to follow instructions mentioned on my application record which I can locate using the tracking ID. But like many others here I cant find any record for my Tracking ID. Is anyone facing a similar issue ? Looking forward for your help guys !!

Canada Visitor Visa Experience
Hello everyone,

I finally received my passport back today. I wanted to share my experience of applying for a Canadian visitor visa with all of you, as this site helped me tremendously to stay calm while dealing with the whole ordeal. I did a joint application with my spouse, and here is a timeline of our events:

Oct 25 – Initiated the visa application on the official Canadian government website.

Oct 28 – Online application submitted with all required documents.

Nov 5 – I received a message saying that I need to submit my passport, with a link included to pull details of where I could send in my passport. At the time, it made sense for me to send it to the New York office, since it was closest to my current place of residence. I proceeded to work on putting together everything that needs to be sent with our applications.

Nov 6 - Application is ready to be shipped out. I chose to use USPS and included transmission fee for both our applications as well as insurance/return label.
Nov 8 – Application was received by the New York center, signed for by a “C Wilson”.

Nov 16 – I received an email from VFS Global saying that the application was missing the updated consent form. My spouse and I received separate emails, but the email sent to my spouse indicated an additional charge of $41.50 for courier service fee.

I was confused about this and reached out to VFS over chat. The operator on the other end was trying to be as helpful as possible, but it appears that the operators don’t really have much more information besides what was already shared. I ended up buying another shipping label, and emailed that with the updated consent forms, to [email protected] and [email protected].

Nov 21 – I received an email from VFS with a tracking ID and a message that the application has been dispatched to the IRCC office on the 22nd (?!?). Besides the fact that the email was sent about an action in the future, the message was cryptic and made little sense. I didn’t pay much attention to this and waited for further communication.

Nov 28 – After waiting for a week and not receiving an update, I begin to freak out and wonder if my passport has been misplaced. I reach out to VFS again, but they seem to not know anything more about this, just like before. The tracking number that I was provided failed to pull up anything of value, and I continually receive a “NO RECORDS FOUND” message while plugging it in on the VFS tracking website. The chat representative too is unable to pull anything up with the tracking ID and advises me to wait for a little longer. I also request for an update via email using the IDs mentioned earlier.

Nov 29 – I receive 5 automated email notifications from VFS, with messages ranging from “application is under process” to “your processed decision envelope has been dispatched from the IRCC Office” with incomplete date stamps. To double check, I went to the Canadian website where I initially started the application to see what was going on, and sure enough, I noticed that there was a “counterfoil” appended to both of our applications. A quick Google search revealed that this is the term that Govt. of Canada use to refer to the physical sticker affixed on the passport.

Nov 30 – A little before lunch, I received an email from [email protected] that says that my application has been updated. I log back into my account and notice no new messages. I suspect that this email was probably talking about the counterfoil that was appended to both of our applications, which I had already checked previously.

Meanwhile, the USPS label that I had created on Nov 6 starts posting activity (hurray!) I guess that means something is being shipped back to me. Since I had picked two day shipping, I don’t receive the package until today (Dec 3).

As I was not sure of when I will receive the passports back, I opted to hold for pickup on my return envelope when I created it. I rushed to the post office today and sure enough, received both our passports! I was elated and relieved at the same time, as this has been quite a trying time, with lots of worry and confusion about what exactly is going on.

I hope this helps anyone out there that is unsure of how the process works. I guess because of the transition starting November, there is a significant delay with the process and general misinformation. For eg., I read in multiple places that shipping labels only have a 2-week validity, but this isn’t always true. They used my old shipping label and it ended up routing correctly back to me. Be sure to confirm new information from a trusted source, and good luck!
