I just did my biometrics today. in NYC.

I got the letter about 10 days ago. Annoyingly they sent it to my previous address even though I updated them about my new address back in May! *eye roll* but anyway, thankfully I got the letter (it was forwarded to me) and I was able to attend my biometrics.

My EAD and AP (and I-140) were approved in May/June but I haven't received the EAD/AP card since. I've followed up several times with USCIS and then eventually contacted the Ombudsman. It's actually after contacting the ombudsman that I got the biometrics letter which is related to my I-765 and my I-485. I don't know if my outreach to the ombudsman prompted it but it seems coincidental.

Fingers crossed my EAD/AP card come through soon, and that I get my I-485 approved because that was filed in February.

So far, things have been pretty swift. I shouldn't complain. I just at least want my EAD/AP card!

        Good luck everyone.

              There's a form... Here it is: https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombuds...ion-forms/7001

It's pretty simple to fill in. Good luck!

I already had one but I need a new card - I think on the form though I mistakenly said I didn't need a new one with my EAD.. which is annoying because I logged into the SSN site to see about getting a new one and you have to physically go there. So I'll have to look into that.

Have you all seen the new guidance that you can work without the physical EAD now, using your approval notice as evidence, if you were approved between December 1, 2019 and August 20, 2020?

Im trying to understand how did they issue an EAD card right the next day after biometrics...my biometrics has been pending for sometime now even though all other docs are in place, I even got I693 yellow notice since I did not send it earlier...havent got any RFE either...I need to get my bometrics done so I could request an EAD ASAP as I'm expecting a job offer soon. If USCIS goes into furlough then I dont think ill be able to accept the job because of all this.

You can request an expedited decision on the EAD even if you don't have your biometrics done yet. I've seen another person who succeeded with this. Try this, because they may approve your EAD without biometrics (especially if they have your biometric data from a previous visa application).

Yeah the goal is to request an expedited EAD, but I have seen cases where expedited EAD was approved pre-covid but EAD card not delivered for 2-3 months when USCIS was closed due to Covid and they cudnt gather biometrics.

All this is really stressful !!

The actual procedure? It took me less than 15 minutes. Perhaps it was closer to 10. I was the first one in the office.

                                Sure. My case is EB1-1A

                                My timeline is as follows:

                                I-140 - Filed December 2019.

Received I-797C Notice of action - Notice date: December 27, 2019

                                I-131 / I-765 / I-485 filed Feb 2020

Received I-979C Notice of action - Receipt date: Feb 18, 2020. Notice date: March 25, 2020

May 21, 2020 - (93 days after filing 1-765 and I-131) - Received I-979C Notice of action saying my I-765 and I-131 had been approved, and should be in the mail soon.

For some reason, I just felt that I should keep asking them about my I-140, which I did..... only to be told on the phone that my I-140 had also been approved in May but for some reason they had not sent me the notice. I asked them to re-send it, so they filed a request.

June 16, 2020 - Received re-sent notice saying my I-140 had been approved

I didn't receive either EAD/AP card combo in the mail after 60 days - I had to call many times to ask what was going on (USCIS stopped producing them although they didn't tell me that!), I put in a request to have it re-sent (which was never assigned to an officer) and eventually at end of July put in form to the Ombudsman.

Shortly after Ombudsman wrote to me saying they had asked USCIS to look into my case, on August 1st I received notice saying I should go for biometrics for I-765/I-131 and for my I-485. They accidentally sent this to my old address but thankfully the postal services forwarded it to me.

August 18th (afternoon) - biometrics done in NYC.

August 18th (evening) - case updated online to say that my card had been ordered.

August 19th - case updated online to say that my card was being produced.

August 20th - case updated online to say card has been mailed.

I have a tracking number (I got it after calling USCIS) and I can see that it is out for delivery. It is due to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday.

August 19th - re: I-485 - case updated online to say that my fingerprints had been completed. Same day also updated to say that fingerprints had ben applied to my I-485 case and my case is now being prepared for officer review.

So that's where I am right now. I'm hoping that my I-485 moves swiftly. So far, apart from the delay in getting my EAD/AP card, it has all been moving much faster than expected.

Hope this all helps. My local field office is Brooklyn NY, but my original forms were sent to Nebraska Service Center and then went to NBC for processing.

I have been up their **** the whole time - I have called them about 2/3 times a week. I've found that the website is often slow/inaccurate and sometimes they don't update it fully or they forget to send notices, or send them to the wrong place. It has been stressing me out but stay on top of them!

Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions.
