I got the 221 g letter on 10th of September. I am waiting for the documents from my employer from US.

In the meantime I wish to resign my current employer here in gurgaon and join another company.

In order to update the current employment details after change of current company please advice can I change the DS-156 and DS-157 form after 221g is issued ?

If so how?
Please suggest anyone.
If this cant be done so does it mean i have to postpone my change of company untill the 221g thing is over?

You need to fill in new DS156 and DS157 again when you drop the docs for 221(g). DS156 and DS157 are available in Chennai US consulate web site.

I went through most of the questions/experiences/replies and found that people aren't posting their experiences after getting VISAS. They only try to adress the forum only when they are in issues.

I wanted to start this thread for only candidates who got 221G with the starting date and Ending date of their query.

Lemme start off with me and make it simple

Interview Date-24th Aug
Query-221G Blue written need time to take decision and review the docs
Updates--Called Consulate 10th Sep and was told that case is still under review
2nd Update---Called Consulate 24th Sep and Still the same thing.
3rd Update----Employer asked me to wait atleast 2 months.

Hope People with 221G will start posting their experiences at one place which will make our search simpler.

I was asked to submit Client letter at Interview time which i didn't have on my hand. Given 221(g) query for client letter and additional employer related documents Tax papers ..etc.

I sent all of them thru drop box which leaded to administrative processing.
From that moment , waiting in endless queue.

All 221(g) effected guys please post your details to this thread !

GOT MY PASSPORT ON 26TH WITH VISA STAMPED .

Nice work deep, I am also on same boat. but My case seems to be different from most of the guys, I am typing it more clearly..


I attended USA h1 b visa interview on October 24th in Dubai. After the Interview, they issued me 221(g).

They took nearly 1 hour 15 minutes interview. So I am giving the brief and main things which went on my interview.

1) They said that I am in eligible for a position which my Employer/ Consultant is willing to give as a software engineer, as my previous exp letters having different designations like software developer, software engineer, TIBCO Developer, infact major part is TIBCO developer almost more than 2 years as TIBCO Developer and also working currently as TIBCO developer as per my current employer offer letter.

I tried to explain my job responsibility which involves all SDLC, and it is stating in Resume, and I worked in all phases of SDLC, but they said they want it in exp letters. I said they don’t mention all these things in exp letter and also, every company is having their own type of naming conventions for their employees. But, what I got from the conversation, what all they need is I should be having exp letters as software engineer for 3 years.

2) At one point of time, they said, even my Education also is not sufficient.
I am having B.tech (C.S.E) from India, and also have MS in from Germany, but the specialization is in Computational Visualistics.
I said to them, if I am not having sufficient education, US don’t release the I-797, and also in the given documents you can find the education emulation also, but they have no answer for this.

3) So, It went like a kind of more technical also, as they asked about TIBCO functionalities, C++, Java. I was so confident, and explained about all SDLC, and the responsibilities, etc…

The 221(g) is saying this thing..

Normally when I have seen this type of case 221(g) in this forum and other forums, people who have got 221(g) is for some supporting documents, but according to my case, I really dont know how it works? as the lady (VO) said to e that, once they send all the docs to the labour authority( usics-dhs) they will review the case and contact the employer, but I did not see any thing like that in the letter. So please tell me, if you or your frnds have gone to this type of case.

According to my knowledge read in the forums... I can tell you that your application will be again sent back to USCIS and you can check the status of the application online on USCIS website.

USCIS will ask your employer to fight your case with required docs or revoke the application. It depends on your employer and yourself to decide on it though most of the cases are fought, i hope so.

If USCIS find your case eligible they will send back your application to Department of state to grant you visa after which you need to attend the interview again at the consulate and by god's grace you should get your visa.

Yeh it sounds so from the letter which they have given, but they did not mention that they will send information to my employer, and also when i called my employer, he said he never faced this kinda of situation, mostly some supoorting docs asked by the people and consulate .
and, the embassy people shoud have accept /reject but cant send the docs back to usics..but this is also contradiction, as i did not get really from that link

Submitted the docs on : 23rd October 2007

221g-Administarive processing-Kindly help

Hello All,

Do anyone know about the documents visa officer keep after giving 221g for administrative processing. I has H1B visa interview in London and visa officer returned all of documents (except Company documents) including I719 form. Only thing he asked me for original Masters Degree and he went away with it (probably photocopy) and then gave it back with 221g Administrative Processing option ticked on that.
My 221 g just saying that we need some extra administrative processing before visa can be issued. Please do not contact as we are unable to say about how much time it will take.
Guys, I think if they send case back to USCIS they keep approval letter and dont give it back to candidate. Seniors please help with your suggestions.
As Administrative processing may have different reasons so I would appreciate your experience specially those who got their case processed.

This can be very usefull for lots of people like me (who just got no option other then wait) to understand what actually they do in Administrative processing.

guys,
this problem needs to be addressedin a broader way!
ppl get visas for the same employer, with the same set of docs from other consulates but NOT at chennai!!!
if they hand out a 221g at chennai seeking docs from employer (and not frm candidate), why other sonsulates follow the same suit?
secondly, why approve the petition at USCIS if they have NOT received the docs from employer? the candidate interviews are mainly to check the candidates authenticity and not his/her employer! But the consulates wont listen!
USCIS shud not approve the petition till they are convinced, it will save our interview time n money.

admin processing is to validate ur employer. Some ppl have got thru in a months time.. some are waiting for 6+ months. Contact ur employer n ask if he has been queried by USCIS yet.
If you have option start immigrating to other nation too.

221G Blue +VFSDropBox+AAP+Status Pending -Chennai

Interview Date - Sep 24 got 221G Blue asked for all docs and PPT to be dropped at VFS.

Received PPT back and pink form asking to send reply to questions thru e-mail. Now the status online says pending processing.

Let me know if anyone had similar experience.I am joining a startup export company in USA and I am the first employee of the company.
