H1b-no work for 11 mos

I am on H1b, and got no project for 11 mos. I am on an IT industry and my employer is not giving me any salary during my bench period. Here are my lists of questions:

1. Is there any problem just in case I got another project with the same company on my green card filing?

2. Can I file for leave of absence during those mos I was on bench? Most company who do not give salary do this when their employee is on bench for a long period.

3. My employer is mentioning of cancelling my Visa, but somebody told me they would not go as far as that since their company would be on a "Red Flag" to USCIS, is this true?

4. Is transfer of visa to F1 the best solution just to keep my status and go back to H1 once there is a demand?

5. Could I ask for my employer for any assistance? How far can we go if they did not give any? Like do I need to go to DOL and let them know about their illegal activity?

1. Yes, the problems will arise when the time comes.
2. No. It is illegal. All companies MUST pay for bench period. That is the LAW!!! Complain to DOL.
3. Not true. Employer can revoke or lay you off any time. You must complain to DOL about your pay. Find the links on immihelp.
4. You cannot change status anymore as you are currently out of status.
5. Complaining to DOL is your best bet.
