  • Visitor Visa - Timespan between appointment and travel

    Hi All,

I'm staying in US on L2 from june 2006 after getting married in feb 2006. My husband is staying here from dec 2004 and is working for an MNC. I recently joined a job on contract after getting work permit. I want my parents to visit us between august and december 2007. Our visa is valid till feb 2008.

My dad works in a bank and mom is a housewife. I have a younger sister and brother who are working in MNCs and are aged 24 and 22 respectively. My sister is likely to get married before june but will continue to stay in india as of now. All 3 of us are computer professionals.

Since dates are available i want to book an appointment in march. However i have few questions. I request anyone of you to answer my dbts.

    1. If asked "when will u travel?" is it ok for my parents to tell that we plan to travel in august and stay for 3 months.

They cannot stay morethan 3 months since my dad cant get more leave than that. Is the timegap between march and august ok? i would loose if they give a 6 month visa..thats wht is my botheration.

    2. Can my parents tell that they want to visit us before we leave US(bec of visa expiry). As of now we do not have any idea whether our visas will get extended or not. Its too early.

    3. We are middle class and dont have much property. property will amount to 10 lakhs and bank balance upto 2-3 lacs. In this case my hubby is most likely to sponser them. However do they still have to show their assets?

    4. In the interview can they tell that i'm working under L2 ? If yes will they ask y ur daughter is not sponsoring you? if so what should we answer?

fyi my job is very volatile and i may quit anytime.

    thanks for your time.

They can say “Aug” as planned month to visit… no issues. If at all if VO asks why did you come so early for the interview they can say… it is hard to get appointments nowadays and came for interview when dates are available.
Now if you are worried about that your parents may just get 6 months visa… well there is guarantee for how long they wld get visa, they may get from 1 month to 10 years. But their stay in US depends on the I94 that issued @ POE. So lets us hope for the best. Or if you still worried better to wait for couple of months and apply.

Yes or NO. Hope saying either way has no impact on interview results.

They can say it is part-time job and may not be able to sponsor the trip. Don’t forget to send all you work related to docs

    thanks for your time.
