Dallas - In line for an Interview
Hello Guys,

I've applied from Dallas.

Applied Date: 28th Aug 17
Finger Printing: 17th Oct 17
Case Status changed to "In line for Interview" on 5th Jan 18

Until 4th Jan 18, my status was "Case Received". On 5th it changed to "In line for Interview". Not sure why it took almost 3 months to change the status on the USCIS Portal.
Does it mean the background checks are done and now we need to wait for Interview to be scheduled ? I understand Dallas has a very long waiting time.

Thanks,
Peter.

San Fernando Valley, CA - Finally a citizen!
During my experience I visited this site many times for information and encouragement. Now its my turn to give it back!! Below is my experience with the SAN FERNANDO VALLEY office in California.

05/08/2017 - We scheduled you for a fingerprint appointment.
05/xx/2017 - FingerPrints done (don't recall exact dates)
05/31/2017 - We are scheduling your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , for an interview.
12/04/2017 - We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization
01/09/2018 - Interview done!
01/11/2018 - We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date.

INTERVIEW DAY - Public parking lot right in front of the office. Arrived 45 minutes before my scheduled time. Went thru security, gave my interview letter to the clerk and she gave me a waiting number. I was called exactly at the time of my appointment.

Officer was around late 30's - 40's years young and was very polite. I was able to joke around a few times and he smiled but kept professional at all times. He started with English reading and writing tests, followed by the questionnaire. Answered all first 6 questions right and he moved to reviewing my application.

He had a few question regarding my name, travel dates and criminal history. He said my travel dates were not matching and I explained I couldn't find some of the dates so I went by event dates instead (for example family birthday around the time of the trip). He said they were close enough and moved on. I had a few traffic citations and he thanked me for providing the information. He took longer cross checking this information on his computer but everything checked so he moved on.

Lastly he took my picture and another finger printing to confirm it was in fact me there and said congratulations that he decided to grant me naturalization. I'm now waiting for the oath letter!

GOOD LUCK and be PATIENCE!
