This post is for tracking appointment cancellation's
All January appointments were cancelled. If anyone has their February appointments cancelled, please report it here. Going forward , we can use this post to report any future cancelations in March, April etc. That way we know if they are starting routing appointments. They are cancelling appointments 3 to 4 weeks before.
Although I have mentioned it before , as an added note, please don't book appointments if you are not a resident of Canada or a citizen or currently in Canada on work permit. Canada border is closed. Even if you get an expedited request for visa appointment you cannot convince Canada that visa appointment is emergency if you are a visitor(even if you have visitor visa they will not let you in). Exception is having a spouse or immediate family. They will not bend rules for you.
Also consulates in Mexico, Jamaica are not allowing third country nationals. The limited appointments are only for those residing inside. Very likely Canadian consulates will follow the same practice.

H1-B emergency appointment procedure
Hi,

I used to live in USA, moved to Toronto for 1 year and now my company is transferring me to the US via H1B consular processing. I already have a regular appointment for the H1B visa scheduled in Toronto for Sept 2021 (that was the earliest date I got)

However, I satisfy the exceptions/exemptions to the presidential proclamation/ban and have documents proving that as well. So, I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with scheduling an emergency/expedited appointment with the consulates?

I did request via the AIS website, but it was during the holidays so I didn't hear back. Has anyone here tried calling & scheduling an appointment? Is the consulate allowing that? Just trying to figure out my next option here.

Please let me know, thank you!

Stamping in Canada not open to visitors even with visitor visa
Guys if you are not a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, or atleast have an immediate family like spouse, please don't book appointments and waste them. It seems multiple people are still booking appointments when they don't have PR. Its a mess for the consulates as well, as they have to keep cancelling. Also, routine appointments are not open even to Canadian residents and only emergency appointments are being honored. The border is closed in Canada , land and air and unlikely to be open in the next few months

H1B_March_COPR
Hi Guys, I'm in the same boat.
Luckily, yesterday, I was able to book the march 23rd slot in Montreal.
I do have COPR and ready to be activated. But, This is my first time H1B stamping and I'm an Indian national.

My questions are:
Is it safe to get first time stamped in Canada?
Also, any news on appointment cancellations for the march?

Appreciate any feedback.

H1B Stamping in Calgary, March 17, 2021
Hello everyone, I need to get my H1B stamping done. My petition is a renewal petition. I'm currently in US. I have a valid Canadian visitor visa. I see in the Canada travel restrictions page https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html

It says the following for foreign nationals entering Canada,

"
All other foreign nationals
To be eligible, you must meet one of the following requirements:

1. You must be traveling directly from the US for a non-discretionary purpose.
2. You must be exempt from the travel restrictions and be travelling for a non-discretionary purpose.
"

Since i will be traveling from US to get my stamping for my H1B renewal petition and my purpose is non discretionary, i should be eligible to travel to Canada as per the requirements. Am i interpreting this correctly?

Visa appointment at Canada based US consulates
Hi,

The earliest dates available for regular visa appointments seem to be in April/May timeframe. The visa wait time website shows emergency appointments only across almost all consulates in Canada. Does anyone know how to apply for an emergency visa appointment? Apart from medical reasons, what could be other valid causes of emergency that consulate might honor?
Has anyone tried to apply through other consulates in Mexico? If yes, what are the dates looking there?

My h1b appointment is scheduled on 8th January in Vancouver. But I think this appointment will most likely be cancelled. When will consulates in Canada start processing regular H1B appointments? Any estimate?
