Visa Stamping from Canada/ Mexico

Travelled from  EWR to SEA almost 5-6hr flight
SEA to YVR (overnight in SEA airport for YVR flight)
Landed YVR 8:30am PST
Rented car (check priceline)reached Airbnb. Drive time 22mins to Consulate from Airbnb traffic is not horrible in YVR to drive. YVR you see lots and lots on asians like lots and lots of desis in EWR

Dec 16th Interview day (9:30am appointment)
Reached there 8:00am parked car right across parking ($20 total)walked to the consulate (raining)
They wont let you inside until your time , dont take phones/backpacks or any electronics (its on their website)

Security will get your appointment sheet ,passport and check your docs and make you stand in the line
if you got a smartwatch they will give you locker at the security(watches not mentioned on their website)

Next step follow the queue for security check 1st floor in consulate building just like airport check.

Next they will take your appointment sheet and passport stick a sticker with the confirmation barcode from the confirmation sheet(DS160), if you changed or modified your DS160 or submitted a new one please take the latest appointment page and mention during that time they wont ask you about it.

Next counter will take your finger prints 4 fingers and then the thumbs then the wait time to catch the elevator to 20th floor.

ME-Yes i did not get time with my work schedule and moreover my parents and her parents got visa to visit us so i did not feel the need to travel outside of US.Now have plans to take a cruise so if i need to return i need VISA.

Rushed out picked my car and drove around YVR, in my case no LCA/I129/W2/paystubs asked .

Waiting for my ppt pick up did not see any update(Mon-Thur) only its says Admin processing. But Thru morning it says delivery EOD and at 11.00am says delivered at pickup location so rushed to loc by 11.20 to pick up ppt.

next morning informed Airbnb host about leaving 1day early dropped car at YVR and flew back

Basically lessons learnt --Be always honest /casual/confident , they are all professionals and they must have interviewed many folks daily all you need to have is the right paper work and be confident then you should be good.

Note- Please share your experiences to everyone so it can help future folks who are attending visa interviews . This web site/forum helped me a lot and reading thru all others experiences made me feel confident for the interview.

As per my earlier post, I got a white slip with no checkboxes and no doc were asked for. The VO retained my passport on the 16th and the status changed to ISSUED today 20th Dec. I paid for premium shipping and received it 2 hrs after the status changed

1)For a Vancouver visa interview, what did you normally do for flight and hotel? Is it better to book one way then book a return once the visa is issued and on route or delivered?

2)For hotel , what is a good place to stay near the consulate?(preferably walking at least for the day of interview?) Travelling with wife and kids.

3)Any hostels or good places for a family?

4)What is the nearest PP Pick up location near the consulate?

Got an email from Consulate. I was just updating my photo today. So i got this email what should i do now can i complete my dS160 and submit or elsz i need to do a new ds160 once again

You will need to complete another DS-160 showing your designated post for interview as Ottawa. Please bring the confirmation page of your new DS-160 with the new barcode to your interview. We will not be able to conduct your interview without new DS-160 application form. Please do not just reprint the original DS-160 you completed and declared when you booked your original appointment. It has to have a new barcode

I got my H1B VISA extension, want to get VISA stampped in Canada. What is the process? what is the wait time? Can some one share links to me?

I had my visa interview for an approved H1B petition in Montreal on December 4th. At the end of the interview, the guy told me he is putting me on further administrative process and gave me a yellow 221g slip and asked me to email my CV on the email address provided. I emailed my CV on the same day and i have not heard back yet. My case is still under administrative process and its been 11 business days. Is anyone else in the same boat? I am in Canada on a tourist visa and it is extremely frustrating not knowing when this will be over.

I Came to US on F1 Visa and got H1B approval in consular processing with a notification to Hyderabad US consulate.

This is my first H1B visa stamping, My attorney is suggesting Mexico for H1B visa stamping. Can I go for Mexico for H1B visa stamping(Change of status from F1 to H1B) ?

Can I do stamping in Canada or Jamica? How is the H1B approvals rate in Canada or Jamica?

We applied for visitor visa documents for canada on dec15,
Received biometric letter on dec 16
Booked for biometric for dec 30 which was the latest available date..
But we did a walk in to uscis office yesterday and got our biometric done...it took only 10 minutes for the process..
Status:biometric completed..

So friends I suggest u can go directly to uscis office for biometric and try your luck..
