Back ground check
Hi people.... i have a question with respect to background checks, i had my interview April 10 2017, my case is yet to be approved, when my wife (USC) called uscis today, they claimed they are still waiting on my background checks....hence! My question is how long does background check takes, what is the nature of the checks, aside checking with FBI and homeland security, which other agency is involved and lastly, do they conduct check from my country of birth ? (In this case Africa). Thanks

Yesterday June, 28 2017 my interview was conducted.
Field office: Hartford Ct.
Appointment at 1:00pm
Officers name: Mr. Evans
Married base.
We arrived 12:30 and proceeded through security. The appointment letter was then handed a day at the window who then ask us to submit all the evidence we brought along with us. We waited for about 10 mins before my name was called.
My husband was very relaxed which help me a lot! He introduce himself and proceeded to swear us in.
My picture and finger print was taken. He requested passports for both of us as well as my state ID and husbands drivers liecense.
He left the room stating he will go and makes copies of all the documents.
Tip: :Insure the address on both ids matches! do not want any room for additional questioning.
When he got back, he went straight to asking my husband basic information. Most of the questions where on the form we filled out together.
First and last name.. address.. date of birth both for him and me. I found this strange as I was the one being interviewed. My daughters name and date of birth.
He then proceeded to me. He went over the information presented on the document.. confirming the info I placed in the form.
He then went to the yes/no questions
After he said... we will get a little personal
Asked me how we ment, when did the relationship got serious, who proposed, where we got engaged, Name of place and location. When we got married, where we got married and who attended. My telephone number...
He then looked at the evidence we hand in.
Phone bill together, cable bill, tax returns ( filed jointly: married), insurance: dental, vision, life insurance, medical.
Lease for landlord with both names on it, joint bank acct.
he then stated we have a lot of evidence compared to couples he had seen earlier tht day. He never looked at the photo album.
My medical did not include the gonorrhea test but he waviered it. ( thank God)
He then told me the approval letter will come in the mail in one week time and the green card in another week time. He explain that I willl receive a conditional green card and explain to me what that is and what will happen when I needed to remove the conditions.

He then said "that it, You have any questions?" I was in shock at this point, he then stated he will walk us out. Whn leaving the room I looked at him and ask so does this mean I was approved for my green card? He said "sshhh" and place his hands over his mouth thn softly said yes.

Hi My PD is Nov 17th and my field office is DC since I live in NoVA. Did anyone got an interview scheduled recently? Website says they are processing Aug 2016 at this time. How long do I have for an interview?

I would like to know any advise on what else to bring to the interview.
I have:
-Marriage Certificate
-ID's and passports
-Bank Statements
-Utility Bills
-Closing documents (Since we bought our first home recently)
-Pictures
-A few wedding cards from Friends & Family
I would like to know if i will be needing an employment letter for me? (Since iam the beneficiary) Or just from my husband?

Such great news! Got the update today that after about 6 weeks, the green card has been produced and is being mailed to us! 2 questions regarding this: 1) how long does it typically take to arrive? 2) will a recently filed EAD renewal simply be cancelled by them? Or does anything need to be done on our end to cancel it?
If anyone has questions about the NYC field office interview experience, I don't mind helping out! What goes around comes around :)

I may have another 2wks for EAD update.....
114 days. I double checked my 765 category I thought was under all other applicants for VSC they say they at 3/20/17 applicants but I'm actually under (c) 9 category because of mine pending 485 well well well they're at 2/20/17 for that and if they don't update processing times by Friday it may take almost another month even though some lawyers said don't really go by their processing time updates there's a lot of bugs with that. The only real time update you can get is by signing up for your case update by email.
