B1 Visa Experience-Chennai Consulate
Hey,
Sharing my experience on my interview for B1 visa held on June-08-2018.

VO: Your passport
Me: (Handed over passport) Good Morning Officer.
VO: Purpose of travel.
Me: murmured in feeble voice....meet clients
VO: (again asked firmly.) Purpose of Visit?
Me: To meet my stakeholders for interaction and clients for Business.
(was slightly scared!)
VO: How long?
Me: 2-weeks.
In the mean while, types something in system.
VO: Where to?
Me: Lone Tree, 10-15 miles away from Denver.(stated confidently)
VO: Oh! in Colorado..
Me: YES Sir, that's right(in firm voice)
VO: How long with Mphasis have you been?
Me: Over 13 years, Now.
VO: Which other countries you travelled earlier?
Me: USA, Thailand. (had completed my 6yrs tenure in US with H1 as on 2014.)
VO Looked on to system, typed something again.
VO: Is your wife travelling with you?
Me. No.
VO: How much is your salary in Mphasis?
Me: 15lac and thousands.
VO nods head. types something into system and gives a deep stare into system once more, then nods his head again. Takes my passport which was in his hand and places it in his box & says- YOUR VISA IS APPROVED.
Me: (Acknowledge him) Thank you Sir.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From my experience, I was Not able to gauge the criteria for selection. May be my salary was over 15lac+ OR my previous H1b tenure in USA. But certainly something in the system was giving him info to lead the interview & conclude the status. Not sure what it is though!. Over all it was fairly easy one for me.
Folks out there, just keep fingers crossed and try your luck.....caz I saw few rejections right in front of my eyes for Tourist Visa and work visa on the same day!
