Is it necessary to apply for green card for both parents together?
I am a US citizen and wish to apply for green card for my mother who lives in India; my dad (also in India) does not wish for getting one right now (maybe later). I have already filed the I-130 application on behalf of my mother (which is under review right now)

So, does this scenario, where my father is not applying for green card at the moment, hurt the chances of getting one approved for my mother?

Do I need to present specific reasons for the same at any point in the consular process?

Ps: They are still in intact marriage

How to change my last name after getting my green card through marriage?
I’d like to change my last name. I think I’ll need to send some evidence that my name has changed so I can get an updated green card with my husbands last name.

So do I need to get a new social security card with my new name first? (I still have the one from when I was a F-1 student that said "for work only")

Do I need to get a new passport from my home country first? (Even though it’s doesn’t expire until 2022?)

NVC scheduling an interview in London
Hi
I wondered if anyone here knows how long it is currently taking for NVC to schedule an interview in London. I have the priority date and have paid and submitted all paperwork just waiting for the date. Impatiently.
Thanks for your replies

Paperwork sent to NVC
I filed I130 for my daughter, which was approved and sent to NVC, however I had already applied for Adjustment Od Status. Do I just wait for USCIS to get back the documents or do I have continue the process through NVC and forget about the AOS. Not sure how to proceed from here. If anyone has any experience with this kind of situation can you tell me what you did???

Aging out child of the I-130 beneficiaries
My grandpa sponsor my mom thru I-130 under married son and daughter section on 2010
On 2015 we received the I-797 approval letter from the Uscis saying that they transferred our case to the NVC.

Because of Covid, the NVC process got delayed until today the priority date is still in the 2007

My brother is currently 19 (Feb 2001) will he be qualified for the Aging out or will he just gonna be stuck in Vietnam when the Visa is made available for my parents

Ps: I’m also a US citizen

AOS - Brother/Sister (F4) - 11 months after interview and case still under review
I am so glad to find this forum, and wondering if someone can give me some advises.

My brother (US Citizen) filed I-130 in 2005 for me. After 14 years the case was finally current. Since I was already physically in US on working visa( a software engineer), I prepared AOS instead of going consulate/embassy route(it might be a huge mistake).

4/29/2019 I-485 was received
5/28/2019 Fingerprints were taken
9/6/2019 Interview was scheduled
10/25/2019 Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed.

Today is 9/24/2020. 11 months have passed but my case status remains "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed". No further update or RFE from USCIS after interview.

My field office is in Long Island, NY, where estimated AOS processing time for family based is 12 to 35 months. Does that mean in the worst case scenario I would need to wait for another 2 years before I can submit an "outside normal processing time" service request? Can I just submit a service request now?

Any piece of advise would be greatly appreciated. It has come more and more nerve-racking every time when I think about it.

Thank you in advance.

Motion to reopen granted after 174 days
Hi community,
AOS denied on February 28 /2020
Submit I 290b on March 31
Case reopened September 21
EAD in production September 21
Reason for denial :
Got RFE for joint sponsor taxées 2017/2018.
Only 2017 was sent.
I290 submitted with 2018 taxes.
I didn’t follow the advise of refilling because I didn’t want to submit I 944 very complicated form. My PD is June first 2019. When you get an RFE, I 485 and EAD are put on hold . And if you get a denial , EAD is not valid anymore. Hope no one gets an RFE or a denial. Good luck yo every one .
