Last few days have been a roller coaster w.r.t biometrics but I have finally had those done today but here is how it went.
After I finally got an update for biometrics that an attempt has been made to schedule an appointment, I was really happy and waiting for the notice to arrive in the mail. I was out of town and for a few days but got an USPS Informed Delivery notification that a package from USCIS is in the mail. Yay!
But after I come back I don’t see the notice in the mail (nor the other mail from Saturday but I see the mail which was supposed to be delivered on Mon through Wed). The only time USPS decides to screw up my mail was when I finally (after 3.5 month wait) got my biometrics appointment. I go to USPS local office who direct me to a different office and I talk to the guy over there and he just shrugs his shoulders and says he can’t do anything.
Then I talk to the USCIS customer representative and explain them the situation but they just tell me to raise another Service Request (I haven’t gotten any update for the already existing 3 Service Requests) and if I missed my appointment it could have led to abandoning of my application. I hang up and talk to another agent and explain the situation and she transfers me to tier 2 but it turns out to be another tier 1 officer. She listens to my situation and takes substantial notes and sets me with a callback to a tier 2 officer. The tier 2 officer finally calls and I explain him my situation again and he calmly listens and asks me for my email address, and just sends the biometrics appointment notice electronically via email. Wow! Just like that I had the biometrics appointment notice in the hand. That tier 2 officer was awesome, he was straight to the point and just delivered what I wanted. The notice was dated 01/17/2020 and the appointment was scheduled for 02/04/2020.
I printed out the notice and decided to attempt a walk-in, more in hope than anything, but to my surprise they took my biometrics although I did have to wait an hour before they could finish with the appointments. But finally this part of the case is done with and I can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being.Concurrent F2A at NBC. FO Detroit

Release Date: Jan. 30, 2020
WASHINGTON U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will implement the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds final rule ( Final Rule ) on Feb. 24, 2020, except for in the State of Illinois where the rule remains enjoined by a federal court as of Jan. 30, 2020. Under the Final Rule, USCIS will look at the factors required under the law by Congress, like an alien s age, health, income, education and skills, among others, in order to determine whether the alien is likely at any time to become a public charge.
The Final Rule, issued in August and originally scheduled to be effective in October, prescribes how DHS would determine whether an alien is inadmissible to the United States based on the alien s likelihood of becoming a public charge at any time in the future, as set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The Final Rule also addresses USCIS authority to issue public charge bonds in the context of applications for adjustment of status. Finally, the Final Rule includes a requirement that aliens seeking an extension or stay of change of status demonstrate that they have not received public benefits over the designated threshold since obtaining the nonimmigrant status they seek to extend or change.

Congratulations to everyone that has been getting updates and their cases moving along! Quick update from me : I have received my combo card around the 25th of January ( Still waiting on the SSN as it's supposed to follow the issuing of the EAD ) My interview is next Tuesday and I am beyond anxious and nervous, particularly because without SSN we were not able to get a lot of major insurances that would serve as supporting evidence, so we had to get a bit more creative in terms of that ( Even though we have a lease, internet and a bank account in both of our names ). Same situation with filling taxes together, I just learned about the ITIN number not too long ago, I didn't apply, since the interview is so close and the processing of that number could take up to 7 weeks. Hopefully everything would work out for us Tuesday, I'll be sure to let you guys know how the interview went, I can't believe I'm the first out of October fillers to have an interview, but I really believe it's because of the FO being in Chicago ( Other Chicago filers also have their interviews 4-5 months after filling, which is still a surprise to me ) Please wish me luck!30/09/2019 : Package Sent to Chicago PO Box
02/10/2019 : Package was received
