My original BC was lost twice and I have one new one from the Office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths from my country but it has a seal and all my original information (as in live birth record number issued by my govt etc). I have used it in a previous first-world country with no problems. I really hope his supervisor audit makes it easier for you guys. Lets just hope the officer was being a bit old school. Good luck to you guys.

-they asked for bona fide proof like pictures, etc... we sent about 100 with the application
-they asked also for my birth certificate, I am the petitioner and born in a foreign country, there’s no consulate in my city for my country, idk what to do to obtain this.
-they asked for my bank statements and tax records, again we sent this as well with the application
-Medical records with form which we scheduled for next week
-All travel documents for my spouse, we sent this we the application, they specified copies otherwise they will need to keep the originals
-they asked for my pay stubs for last 12 months, why? Idk but I did originally send them for the previous 6 months
most of everything seems to be around finances, though between the both of us, we both being engineers working for tech companies we both make a lot, so not sure why all the requests for this.
anyways, any advice on my birth certificate, I don’t understand why wouldn’t they ask for my passport which proves my citizenship? It’s going to be tough to obtain a modern copy of my birth certificate, my current one is hand written by my country’s government lol
there is also a line that says “Bring copies of all documents and forms sent with the original application” why? And does this mean we have to print and assemble our whole 300 page application packet?

We filed in Chicago for marriage petition
We filed in September with a priority date of 09/30/2020
09/26/20 App Sent
09/27/20 App delivered
09/30/20 Priority Date
12/02/20 Biometrics Done
12/11/20 EAD/AP Card Mailed
02/02/21 Ready to schedule interview
03/23/21 Interview Scheduled
04/30/21 Interview date
In all honesty we arent going to take all of the things already submitted either. Its such a hhuge waste of paper.
We are taking just the things from the submittion date forward - which to be fair there isnt a lot of. Due to covid we didnt see family at xmas and its too cold in chicago to do much outside over winter - and i was away all of Jan too.
It dosent say you HAVE to bring all the original things again, it just says if you dont then to be aware theyre going to keep everything you originally sent.
You mention you guys are engineers - we are business owners and aso make good $. Im wondering i thats the reason our applications were processed so quickly. That would be sad if it was true, but i feel its likely.

Hi, so i think our interview went well. Our officer was friendly and to be honest we talked waaaay too much and she had to tell us to start reigning in our answers as she was on a schedule, but it was nice to not have to squeeze / pull answers from people.
She said she will be reviewing out papers and will let us know in a few weeks.
We are heading to CO on sunday so i can meet my husbands mom properly for the first time. We were supposed to go last year but covid happened (as everyone knows lol).
We took a lot of new evidence from the past 6 months (utilities, bank stuff, trips, photos, cards etc) but she said she didnt need it - just wanted the bills and bank stuff.
She handed us a letter when we left that said we could be asked for more info or a second interview after her review, but she was pretty vague.
We went out for a long lunch / drinks after regardless.

Yeah, while waiting I saw 7 different officers call people in, some people came out happy, others came out just with a poker face. I am not sure if you read mine above, but ours was not approved on the spoit, it was RFE'd (-_-) because we didn't have my husband's written birth certificate from 1990, we had a certified copy of it we obtained from the consulate of his country when we flew to New York.
I guess some officers are more strict than others, ours did ask for a lot of things actually.
He asked us for our tax returns, my husband's documents, any bona fide document to support our marriage, mind you we submitted a total of 137 photos from the two years we dated, along with more than 30 trips receipts and itineraries we had taken together. I was surprised that he asked if he had proof to support all these photos from all these places, and I simply replied "We provided all of that with our application" He asked about our 401k, any insurance policies, our condo papers, car papers, he asked us for a lot of things. Everything he asked us for we provided or was previously submitted, with the exception of my husband's original birth certificate from 1990.
In the end, he told us he will hand over the case to his supervisor to review and then he will review it again, he made us sign the application and handed us a letter that says they couldn't make a favorable decision at this time. Our status changed from "Interview Scheduled" to "Interview completed my case must be reviewed" about 2 hours after we left the building. Let's hope for the best!

This is a very belated post but I would like to share my i-485 timeline with you as well. I am married to USC; same-sex couple; living in Phoenix AZ.
I would like to use my experience to tell you that you can be proactive and really push things forward. In my case, I requested the bio appt and the EAD expedite myself instead of waiting endlessly, and they both worked.
9/18/2020 Application package sent to USCIS Chicago Lockbox
9/21/2020 Package delivered
10/1/2020 Application fee charged
10/5/2020 Received text messages for receipt notice of I-485, I-130, I-131, I-765
10/14/2020 Receipts for the 4 forms delivered in letters
12/31/2020 Received I-693 deficiency notice letter
1/4/2021 I called USCIS to request a biometrics appointment and they submitted a job request for me
1/23/2021 Received the notice for biometrics appt
2/11/2021 Biometrics taken at USCIS Phoenix office
2/12/2021 Finger prints were applied to I-485 and I-765
2/16/2021 I-485 case ready to be scheduled for interview
3/9/2021 I requested an expedite for my EAD because my current visa was going to expire in two months and I needed EAD to keep my job. The request was done through USCIS webchat with an actual agent since I wasn't able to get to a real agent via the phone service.
3/12/2021 EAD expedite request approved! (I totally wasn't expecting it since I read about it and the approval rate is incredibly low!)
3/15/2021 I-485 interview scheduled
3/16/2021 EAD card was ordered; I-765 and I-131 were both approved
3/18/2021 EAD card was mailed to me
3/19/2021 EAD card was picked up by USPS
3/22/2021 Received EAD and AP combo card
3/22/2021 (Yes, same day!) Received I-485 interview notice for 4/20/2021
4/16/2021 Finished my medical exam (took me two rounds over two weeks since I didn't have a vaccination record), received I-693 in sealed envelope from the doctor
4/20/2021 Attended I-485 interview at the USCIS Phoenix office (General questions and chats. The officer approved our case on the spot! He told us to expect the approval notice and the card in the next 3-4 weeks! This will be a 2-year conditional card since our marriage is less than 2 years.)
4/20/2021 New card is being produced
4/21/2021 I-485 and I-130 showing case was approved. And approval notices were sent.

Hello everyone,
My husband and I filed shortly after we were married in September 2020. My husband went to do his biometrics on February 17th. Since february 17th, the uscis has not updated anything under his case number other than on February 17th, finger prints were taken. Our lawyer said the system is backlogged and should be updated within 30 days? Is anyone else experiencing this or has experienced this?
