Got blue 221(G) slip with no additional document requested
Hi All,
Here is what I am experiencing till today.

Location: Mumbai, India

Bio- 2nd May 2017
Interview - 3rd May 2017

Questions asked:
Interviewer: What is your job role?
Answer: **** **

Interviewer - Your I797 is expiring on 8th July, what are you doing here in India?
Ans: Came India on vacation to celebrate my USA born son's first birthday.

Interviewer - You work for which company?
Ans: I work for company B.

Interviewer - But in the system there is a different company.
Ans: Because my company B acquired company A. So the company name has been changed.
Note: After mentioning this I handed over company name change letter to interviewer which was provided by my HR along with the client letter. She took a look at that and then said wait for sometime. She went somewhere with that letter and came back after 5 min or so. and then said:

I - See, I cannot validate this document right now. We need some time for this.
Note: With that she handed over me 221 (G) blue slip with only one option checked "Your application requires Additional Administrative processing. The office will contact you via email". Then she asked:

I: Which date your return tickets booked to?
Ans - 20th May 2017
I: Hopefully this will be done by this date. We will contact you via email and ask you to submit your passport if no other documents are requested.
Note: After this she returned back our passports and we came back.

Today is 25th May, I am everyday checking emails and still hoping that I will hear back soon from them. But till date no luck. My office folks have given me deadline that if we dont hear back from USCIS by 30th May then we will send other person. Is there anyone experience/or experienced similar case?
I know it's unknown but I am really wondering how long Administrative Processing will take when they have not requested any additional document.

H-1B Extension and H-1B to H-4 Conversion
Hi,
We're going for H-1B extension for me and H-1B to H-4 for my spouse.

I have all the necessary documents including client letter.

What sort of documents expected for H-1B to H-4 conversion? Do they usually question why she moved to H-4? She's still working for the same employer but on H-4 EAD.

We're going for the interview together. Do I handover both our passports together with my I-797?

Thanks,

H1b Chennai
Thanks to all for sharing the experience, which is very helpful. I want to share my experience as well:

Myself and my wife both had our stamping done in Chennai consulate in the first week of May.

Biometrics, as usual very quick and nothing complex.

Our interview slot is 11 AM, we went there at 10 and got inside in 5 minutes. Then it was a big line inside and waited for almost an hour. We both went to different counters

Below are the questions asked for me:

1. Who is your petitioner
2. Who is your client
3. Salary
4. Wife is in H4? I answered as no and mentioned that she is on H1.
5. Is she here with you for stamping? Yes
6. Childrens? I mentioned that they are born in US

Visa is approved

For my wife, this is the first time is going for a h1 interview as earlier she was in H4. It took really longer, close to 30 minutes

1. Employer
2. Client. she mentioned as direct employee, but the officer was keep requesting who uses the product etc,. and she mentioned multiple small clients (instead of customers/vendors)
3. Roles and Responsibilities.

Officer requested for all documents like 797 etc,. My wife gave 797, Employment letter. She forgot to give pay checks and requested to wait.

They called her again after 30 minutes, i told her to highlight that she meant customers as clients and also she forgot to give the paychecks. When my wife started speaking itself, the officer told to stop and said visa is approved.

We were so much tensed when asked to wait, but at last everything went well and we are back here now.

H1b Stamping with Amendment Receipt - Need Inputs
Hi Folks,

It looks like my situation is somewhat different as I didn't find visa experiences matching with mine.

My petition was selected in 2016 lottery. Not yet stamped.

Petition has been approved for location A, but I changed the project in the meantime, and new client is located at location B. Although, location A and B are in same state and only approx. 30 miles apart, they are in different county. So, my company's immigration team has suggested to go with amendment.

Now, here's the catch - Client wants me in the US ASAP at location B. Since premium processing has been suspended, there is no option other than regular filing, which will take months to get adjudicated.

Company's immigration team has suggested that as soon as amendment receipt is received, I can go for stamping with:

1) Approved petition
2) LCA for location B
3) Amendment receipt copy

My company is leading service based company. Employer-Client model.

How straightforward do you guys think this scenario is?

Hoping for your valuable suggestions. Thanks!

H1B and H4 stamping in Chennai (July 2017)
Hello,

Has anyone scheduled appointment for visa stamping in Chennai for July 2017? If yes, could you share the availability on the US consulate calendar. My husband and I really need fresh visa stamped on our passport and were bummed when we got mid-September slots in Ottawa after paying the non-refundable fee of $380. Most US Consulates in Canada have no availability for most summer. Could somebody share their search for appointment slots in India? Thanks in advance. PM

Hi Friends,

Below is my visa experience at Mumbai consulate. I had worked in US for more than 6 years and have approved I140. This was my first stamping for H1B as i last entered in US on L1 visa and later switched to H1.

5/15 - Biometrics. Reached 30min before scheduled time and was taking in immediately. Was out in next 15mins.

5/16 - Visa interview. Reached 30min before scheduled time, was taken inside at the scheduled time, but by the time i reached the interview counter it was almost 2hrs from the scheduled time.

Below are the questions asked by Visa Office.

1. Can i see you passport and I797.
2. What do you do for the petitioner.
3. What is your highest education qualification and latest salary.
4. Can i see your old passport.
5. Was company x your last employer.
6. Why did you leave company X.

Your visa is approved and can be collected in 2-3 days.

5/17 - Passport still with US Embassy

Got 221(g), need suggestions
Hi. Myself and my husband got his H1b picked and approved in the year 2015. We came to India this year April for stamping(our wedding was fixed). I got my H1b stamped BUT my husband got 221(g) pink slip. He works for American company. While filing for his h1 in 2015 he filed two(so did I), one with his current employer and the other through consultancy, both got picked and approved. In the visa interview, interviewer asked more about 2nd H1b and why didn't you take up that? why did you plan? What is the package for that that? Where is the job location?
On may 5th uscis sent an email to 2nd consultancy employer requesting for documentation so both his current employer and 2nd h1b employer sent uscis documentation. From April 4th(his interview date) till now whenever we track on ceac.state.gov it is showing the status as "your search didn't return any data". Is there any way we can check the correct status? I am very worried since even though they requested information nothing is being updated AND also not sure till when we have to wait. I have booked our flight ticket for this may28th. Please help me with any of your suggestions. Thank you so much for your help in advance.
