H4 EAD case status errors
Hi all, I have submitted my H4 EAD application on march 15th 2017, received receipt number on march 20th. After getting receipt number I tried to check the case status online but it showed validation error. Then I called USCIS, they said it would take 45 days to update any status online. So after 45 days I tried to check but still it shows the same validation error. Its been 60 days now, still no update online. When I called them they said it might be some technical error and we would look into it and report, and asked me to wait till 75 days . Anyone on the same path or experienced before. How early one can check their case status online?

Visa Approved - Administrative Processing - Issued
Hi All,

I had my fourth H1 stamping at Mumbai consulate on May 03 2017. In all previous interviews, i used to collect my passport on same day of interview. This time however it was different.

VFS Fingerprint : May 2 , 2017
Interview : May 3 , 2017
May 3-10 : Administrative Processing
May 11 : Issued
May 12 : Collected passport from VFS center

I was in 10 am slot, but interview got over around noon. Interview was straightforward. CO said visa is approved, you should get your passport in 1-2 days. ( No 221g slip given)

As usual i went to collect passport at VFS center after interview around 3 pm and was notified that my passport is still with consulate. Based on my previous experience I had booked my return tickets for 7th May. Had to reschedule them. Since i can work remotely work was not an issue.

Advice for those waiting for passport:
I understand it’s frustrating to wait in limbo. Based on my experience and posts of other folks here, i can assure one thing that if CO said your visa is approved, you will definitely get visa issued on passport. Only question is when. Rather than panicking and giving stress to parents/siblings and friends, enjoy your time with them. Be positive you will get your passport with visa on it.
Lesson learnt:
1. Plan at least 2-3 weeks vacation
2. If possible book open ticket, to avoid change/cancellation fees.
3. If travel is not urgent, it would be advisable to postpone it until things get normal. ( unless 2-3 weeks is the new normal)

Good Luck!

H1B restamping HYD 05/09
Been a silent reader of this forum and now's the time for me to contribute with my Visa stamping experience.

Interview date: 5th May, me (re-stamping) and my wife (F1 - H1B) 11am slot. We both work for a major insurance company as FTE's

It wasn't a busy day, entered the consulate may be by 10.25am security went fine. Tip: Don't carry sealed envelopes. saw quite a few visiting visas petitions parents with there kids and few H1 cases.

Here comes my chance to face the interview, VO was a lady and didn't respond to my greetings :)

It was a rapid fire round kinda interview which ended in a minute and no single document was asked from me

Who's your petitioner?
Where's it located?
What's your designation?
Who many employees work for the petitioner? (check your LCA it should have the number)
What's your highest level of education?
What the annual salary?

Then something you like to hear "Your Visa is approved" and did you get your "Know Your Rights" brochure?

That's it, pretty much same with my better half's interview :)

Our status was "AP" initially after couple business days it changed to "ISSUED" :)

All I can say "Don't panic", if your case is straight forward then you are all good. All the BEST to you all.

Incorrect information printed on H1B visa
Hey All,

I got my visa approved without any issues and received passport in three days with incorrect expiry date printed on it. I submitted it back to the Hyderabad VAC with required documents. The status changed to 'Administrative Processing' now.

1) Does anyone know why this case is put under Administrative Processing now since they did not mention about it when my visa is approved?
2) How long will it take to get the passport back?

Please let me know if anyone has or heard about similar situation. I had to cancel my travel plans because I was not able to get the passport on time.

H1-B Stamping Experience at Chennai
Hi all,

I've been following the posts here for the past 3 months or so to prepare for my visa stamping. My experience is as follows -

Profile -
Graduated out of school in 2013. H1-B picked in 2015 lottery through Employer A and then in September 2016, I moved to Employer B. This is my second H1-B but I am getting it stamped for the first time.

5/8 - OFC appointment at Chennai VAC
5/9 - Consular Appointment

My appointment was at 8:00 AM in the morning. I got there around 7:30 AM and there was a long line and there were a lot of people already inside. After I got inside, I had to go through two lines which took about ~60 mins..Around 9 AM, I was at the counter.

VO:Good morning. How are you?
Myself: Good morning. I am doing good. Thanks for asking. How are you?
VO: I am good. Thank you. Your passport please?

*Passes passport*

VO: So, who is your petitioner?
Myself - *Company XYZ*

VO: Are you working there currently or are you traveling from here?
Myself: Yes I am working there currently and I am here on vacation.

VO: Where is your office located?
Myself: *Location ABC*

VO: Is this your first H1-B after OPT?
Myself: Nope. (I then explained the timeline from my gradation to OPT to my H1-B being picked in 2015 and transferred to my new employer in 2016).

VO: What are your roles and responsibilities?
Myself: As I started explaining elaborately, she told me to stop and asked me what kind of products the company offers. I then explained.

VO: What is your salary in US Dollars?
Myself: $XY,ZZZ.

VO: Okay. I am approving your visa.
Myself: Thank you!

CEAC status on 5/9 - Administrative Processing
CEAC status on 5/10 - Issued
Picked up passport on 5/10 at 3 PM.

Once again, thank you all for sharing your experiences on this platform as it was very helpful for me to prepare for this.

To others who are preparing to appear for stamping, my advice to you would be please be calm and composed. Make sure you are carrying all the required documents and are able to communicate effectively with the VO.

As far as the stamping situation is concerned at the US Consulate, it's business as usual.

Successful stamping for a H1B visa at Vancouver on 05/08
Reaped the benefit as a silent reader. Thought i would share my experience here. Mine was a H1B extension and my first interview outside my home country. My current visa was still valid for another good 2 months. This was a stamping for the extension that has a start date in the future.

- Appointment date: 05/08 at 7:45AM
- Visa status was "Administrative processing" the whole day on 05/08.
- Visa status changed to "Issued" at 10AM on 05/09 and by 3:30 PM, the tracking number was available. Estimated delivery date was 05/10
- Package was delivered to the Post Office by 11:30AM on 05/10 and I picked it up at 11:50AM.

As far as the whole visa process is concerned, here are the details.

Reached the consulate at 7:20AM for a 7:45AM appointment. They do an initial check of your passport, I-797 and photograph and ask you to keep these 3 together. They also make sure you carry your passport size photograph. Make sure it is taken in the last few months and that you aren't wearing any glasses in the photo if you generally wear one. Make sure you arent wearing a fitbit or the likes and do yourself a favor by not carrying a cellphone or any other electronic device.

Next, you queue up on a flight of stairs and go through an airport style security check. Then you end up in a line where they check your docs again and scan your photo. You will be directed to another line where they take your fingerprints and assign you with a token# for the interview. Once 4-5 people stack up after their fingerprinting, the guard takes you in an elevator to the 20th floor where the interview would take place.

Once you reach the 20th floor, you line up per your token#. There were 2 gentlemen interviewing on either sides of the line. I was probably around the 15th guy in the line and had to wait for close to 25 minutes to be called.

These were the questions asked(I am a FTE at a reputed company and this is my 7th year of H1B with the same company)

For how long have you been with your company?
What is your job title?
Are you married?
What status is your spouse on?
Do you have kids?
Has your employer applied for GC?
What is your salary?
Can you provide your most recent pay-stubs?

I know that's a lot of questions, and this is the very first time I have been asked so many questions for my US visa. Once i provided my pay-stubs, he carefully looked through the details for a good one minute and said everything looks good and that my visa was approved.

Do note that unlike your home country where they would probably return your I-797, they dont return it to you here. I asked the VO explicitly whether they would need the I-797. He answered in the affirmative and told me that it would be returned along with my passport.

It was around 8:30AM when i came out and I should say the whole experience was pretty smooth.

H1B Stamping Experience in Mumbai consulate.
Hello All,

I went for H1B stamping on 4th May ( OFC ) and 5th May ( PA ) in Mumbai consulate.

4th May : OFC

It took hardly 5 mins to complete this Process .Left hand ,Right hand and 2 thumbs Fingerprints as well as Photo was taken .

Documents need to carry for OFC :--
Passport .
DS160 confirmation Page.
Appointment confirmation Page .

5th May : PA

Mine slot was at 9.30 a.m. I reached consulate around 8.30 a.m. Stood in line for almost 1 hour outside consulate .Security guard allowed us to go inside at sharp 9.30 a.m. Security check was done inside consulate .There were so many people and my turn came around 11.15 .

Here is how my PA happened :-

Me : Good Morning Officer !
VO : Good Morning .

VO checks something in system for 2 mins and look at me .

VO: So , Since how long you have been working with YYYY company .
Me : X Years Y Months.

VO : What is your designation ?
ME : YYYY .

VO : Which location you are travelling in US ?
ME : XX City YY State .

I797 , I129.

Don't carry so many things other than your documents and money .

Below is my Timeline :

6th & 7th May : Weekend.
8th may : Issued .
9th May : Collected passport .

**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **
I will suggest only one thing who all are planning to go for stamping in the near time .

Be confident , Confidence is the only KEY . If your case is genuine nothing to worry about .Just be sure about basic information like Employer / Petitioner , Salary , Designation , Role , Duties , Client , Location .

Don't ask India Or US if the VO ask you for any of the above information, they are not concerned about what you are doing here in India and how much you are getting paid. All answers need to give with respect to your H1B Petition. Read your petition thoroughly

I am very much thankful to immihelp as I was following it daily to get current situation and other people experiences to prepare for myself.

ALL THE BEST GUYS !! Be Confident .. You will definitely Rock !!!

Thanks .

221g Receipt Mumbai Consulate.. Who will submit the documents?
I went for visa interview at Mumbai Consulate on 5/May/2017.

Once I entered it took around 15min to come out. Out of which 10min were completely dedicated to interview.

Following are the questions and answers between me and visa officer (VO) .

    VO: your passport and I797?
    ME: ****

    VO: Who is your petitioner?
    Me: ****

VO: for how long you are working with your petitioner?
    Me: ****

VO: what will be your salary in us?
    Me: ****

    VO: who is your client?
    Me: ****

    VO: where office..??
    Me: ****

VO: what type of work you will be doing there?
    Me: ****

    VO: Are you married?
    Me: ****

Then she took a white slip.. put ticks on that...And asked to share all the required documents on email.

Then she handed over that white slip, my passport and I-797.

BELOW IS THE TICK MARKED POINT OF 221(G) for reference:

1?. Copy of petition, I-129, and LCA
2?. Copy of employment contract or letter of agreement signed by you and your petitioner
?3. Detail description of the project to which you will be assigned. Includes a complete technical description of the project, employer, time-line, current status, number of employees assigned, work-site location and marketing analysis of the final product.
4?. A complete itinerary of services or engagements (including both internal and Client projects ) that specifies the date of each service, the name and address of the actual employers, and the name and address of the location where the service will be performed for the duration of the petition

Could someone tell who is supposed to mail these documents? Me or the Petitioner?

My petitioner is ready to share the required documents with me but I am confused if the documents are supposed to be mailed by petitioner or me.
