Indian Passport

Today I have received my child passport (renewal) from Washington DC. In the first page, I observer that the passport officer signature is not there. Usually passport office will do the signature on it and put the stamp right?

Will there be any problem if we are not getting the signature on it. Please let me know if anyone have observed this kind of issue and what is the next course of steps if we need it.

Had a very pleasant and seamless experience with my passport renewal at the Houston Consulate (36 page booklet with request for normal (not tatkal) processing): Took 13 business days / 18 calendar days. Amazing turnaround which I was not expecting!

1) 1/5 Couriered documents with UPS for 2nd day Air (labels purchased with UPS and not with VFS)
2) 1/7 Package delivered at VFS Application Centre
3) 1/9 VFS email: Application receipt acknowledged on VFS site. "You are requested to track the status of your application after 2-3 business days"
4) 1/11 VFS email: "We have received and your application is now "Under Process" at Houston. Use the Government Tracking ID # YYYY XX to "track and trace" on the VFS
5) 1/12 Your application has been processed at the VFS India Consular application currently is "In Transit" to the Embassy of India / Consulate General of India for decision
             making
6) 1/14 Email from [email protected]: Email advising that police verification has been sent to the Police Department
7) 1/15 Update on Govt site: Passport Print Initiated
8) 1/18 Update on Govt site: Passport being printed
9) 1/19 Update on Govt site: Passport sent to VFS
10) 1/20 VFS email: "Your application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India and will be dispatched with 24-48 hours
11) 1/20 evening : UPS return tracking indicated that UPS has picked up the package from VFS for 2nd day delivery (i.e. delivery scheduled for 1/22)
12) 1/22 afternoon: UPS package received with new passport and old passport (punched)

1)12/23: Couriered documents with FedEx ( labels purchased from VFS site)
2)12/24:Your package has been received at the VFS application Centre.
3)01/05: We have ‘Received’ your Application and your application is now ‘Under Process’ at VFS.
4)01/07: Application has been processed at VFS and forwarded to the Embassy.
                                     --------Government website-----
5)01/08: Government website we have received your application with the fee details.
6)01/09:Your application is in the review.
7)01/15: Print has been initiated for the passport.
8)01/19: Passport has been printed.
9)01/20: Passport is printed and will be delivered shortly.
10)01/21: Passport has been handed over by the Embassy/Cosulate to the OSP Executive for further dispatch to the applicant.

11)01/21: Your document (s) is dispatched using the return label purchased or sent by you-VFS
12)01/22: Received new and old passport.

Hi Guys,
I have sent my application thru VFS labels, I got the standard email from fedex
 "Adult recipient unavailable (age and required identification vary by country)
Recommended action : No action required. Delivery re-scheduled for next business day."
Any experiences like this?

And dumb me, I forgot to self attest on Passport copies, any body have any Idea what could happen if there is a mistake in documentation??

Does any one know how long it's going to take to get passport once status is "Print initiated for passport".
Later in late night "police verification initiated " email is received.

My file number has been generated but since then there is no update. I have applied at Washington Indian Embassy.

I received email from Vfs stating affidavit is missing. I have send by package through FedEx and received by VFs on 1/20.
Will I get any email confirmation? I haven’t received any response from them.futher.

I applied for a passport renewal for my minor child in early December 2020. The application reached VFS on 15 December and was processed by ICAC on 28 December. It reached the Embassy on the same day and on 29 December, the status changed to "Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate." It has been 23 days and the status has remained unchanged. I tried emailing VFS several times but received a standard response to the effect that the processing time for Passport Reissuance under Normal Services is 3 weeks. Well those 3 weeks have expired and there is still no response. This is so frustrating.

Anyone else in the same boat?

On a separate note, isn't it ridiculous that VFS charges us money to answer basic questions on a service they have been engaged by the Government to provide to Indian citizens. I find this practice highly unethical and unprecedented. Even prisons are trying to abolished the outdated practice of collect calls.

I submitted my passport for renewal at SFO VFS on 1/7 and it was received by VFS on 1/8. I received the email and text notification that passport received but since then I have not received any notification from VFS. it's been ~2 weeks and I am not sure the status of my passport. I sent an email to them via contact us link and they mentioned that they have escalated but no proper result. They ask to wait

Any suggestion what can be done?

After that there is no communication from VFS.

I called VFS helpline number and got to know that my packet is not yet picked up, agent on phone escalated the issue and asked to wait for 24 hours.
Guys they charge for calling helpline number, before speaking to agent on phone, you have to provide your credit cards details, otherwise you will never be connected with agent. First 5 mins are free in 7 days, if you call next day again if you already used your free 5 mins then you will be charged.

But there is no option to know the status or to escalate your case.
