Indian Passport

Hi all,
        I wish to share my experience with the passport renewal at newyork consulate. It took me a week to fill all the details in the application and collecting all the required documents. I was reading delays up to 4 to 6 weeks to get the renewal done. BINGO i received my passport within 12 days, which included 2 weekends.

May 3rd: Dropped at FedEx office by 4pm.
May 6th: Package received by CKGS by 3.15.pm but not verified.
May 7th: Application processed at CKGS center (11am)& in transit to consulate for
               decision making.
May 8th: Application is under process at the consulate (11.27am).
May 9th: Application is still under process at consulate.
May10th: Application has left the consulate and in transit to CKGS application
                Center( 4.56pm).
May 10th: Application with your passport has returned to CKGS application center
                 & is at the sorting facility for delivery(4.59pm).
May 13th: Passport has been picked up by Fedex.
May 14th: New Passport with old one was delivered at door step.

At the outset let me state that it was smooth, quick. I had been reading delays of 4-6+ weeks but nothing here.

It took just 2 weeks to renew passport once reached at Embassy - DC. Though there was a initial delay of a week at CKGS as the photo was rejected and I had to send those.

All together in less than 4 weeks, I had sent a mail to Embassy - DC to expedite since it is for minor and that's the only ID proof available while living in US.

The response came to my e-mail in 15 mins after sending it with the exact delivery date for the passport and I indeed received a day before it was committed.

I thought of writing this experience regarding the Indian Passport Renewal at New York Consulate.

The process went very smooth. It took just 9 days for the overall process and to receive the Passport in hand.

Few lessons learned:
1. Forgot to print the shipping label when we reached the Fedex Office for posting. Then came back and printed the shipping label from the ckgs site.

2. For log in to check the status at https://passport.in.ckgs.us/myaccount, it is best to use Firefox browser.
Chrome and IE was having problems and it was not allowing to log in.

3. Credentials for log in to CKGS site was Reference Number from India Gov site, Passport num and Date of Birth.

My application submitted at embassy on 8th April by CKGS and it still Under process. I applied it because it shows 1 to 3 weeks and i have to go to India.

I mailed to embassy and CKGS too, but got mail from only CKGS that due to up-gradation in the Embassy system will take about 6 week.
how can i get my passport as soon as possible any suggestion????

I have submitted my passport to Ckgs Washington Location, It was under process for decision making at EMBASSY for more than a week. Can any one help me with the ways to Expedite the process to get my passport as soon as possible as I have my visa extension coming up.

I would like to know what are my options to expedite this process. I submitted passport on mar 29th to ckgs and right now it has been under process for decision making at EMBASSY for more than a week since march 1st. I have tickets booked to india on May 3rd. I was wondering if this is a difficult situation to obtain passport as per the timelines. I heard that the process has been expedited recently through ckgs. Would love to hear your opinions if anyone submitted and got the passport from atlanta.
