L1 blanket interview
As per my experience, i would like to share something to u. Hope it helps and clear the myths

Approvals on L1B are bases on below factors

1. Your company credibility
2. The credibility of client which u r working for
3. The criticalness of business ur client doing

The above 3 are critical deciding factors. Embassy ppl will come to a point +ve/ -ve initially with above points. Next

1. How experience u r
2. How confidently u behaving
3. Tenure
4. Salary
5. How experienced ur in the current org

With the above points they will decide 75%-80% to approve ur petition or not.

1. Specialize knowledge
2. Project
3. Functional experience

These questions they will ask u to justify their decision.

All d best

Need information on L1 Individual Visa
Hello Friend,

I am working in a IT Service based company in India. I have applied for L1B Blanket last year (Nov'16) and it was rejected in Visa Interview. They didn't asked a single question about my specialization :(.

My Company is ready to do L1 Individual visa now. Can some one tell me what are the chances of getting visa approved. I am planning to put same specialized knowledge which I have projected in L1 Individual also, Is that ok?

I heard that L1 Individual visa is a time taking process and it would take close to one year. I want to know percentage of the chances I have to get L1 Individual after L1 B rejection. I would not worry if I am applying from a product based company, I am worried because I am applying from an Indian based service company.

Thanks for your help.

Is it rejected if officer stamped on I-129S with 'Not Clearly Appovable'?
I attained L1A Blanket visa interview on 03-Aug-2018. Officer stamped on my I-129S mentioning that 'Not Clearly Approvable' without giving any slip/paper and returned passports and other two set of I-129S and I-797.

On CEAC site it is showing me status 'Administrative Processing'. Few question if anyone has any idea:
1. Do they consider for further verification?
2. What would be the next status?
3. If it is rejected, how long it takes and in this case what status it shows?

Thanks.

Hi All,

I got my 'L1B-Individual' approved from USCIS. On I-797 form, consulate mentioned is Chennai.
So could anyone please let me know If I can schedule an interview at Mumbai?

L1A Individual Approved @ Chennai
My L1 A Individual has been approved at Chennai Consulate @ 07/27. Below was my experience -

- L1 A Blanket status "Not Clearly Approvable" @ Chennai - 11/2016
- Filed L1 A Individual Petition (Premium Processing) - 03/2017
- Received RFE by USCIS - 04/2017 (in 2 weeks time)
- Submitted RFE response - 06/2017 ( I took me good time to provide as detailed Response I could)
- Approval Notice Received - 06/2017 ( in 2 weeks time)
- L1 A Individual Interview and Approval - 07/2017

L1A Blanket - Not Clearly Approvable - Imp last part of Interview Question that I think led to a Rejection-
VO: Will you be working at Client location
Me: Yes
VO: Will your Director be working at same location
Me: No, she will be traveling on need basis
VO: When she is not at client location, who is going to manage you?
Me: She will be managing me remotely.

So I think its important not just how would you manage your direct/indirect reports but how would you be managed as well if your petition says you will be working at a client location. Mine did, as I am from Consulting?

L1 A Individual - Approved- Important last part of Interview Questions that I guess led to Approval -
VO: How is your role going to be different in US than in India?
Me: I would be managing the associates in US as well, which is currently managed by the client. We are revisiting the contract and this is a change. I will also continue to manage the team in India.
VO: So, you will play a bigger role?
Me: Yes, Senior Manager role at the Program Level.
VO: You are married?
Me: Yes
VO: Any particular reason your wife is not traveling?
Me: As per firm policy, only after my Approvals Immigration Team initiates Dependent Visas.
VO: How long you have been with the firm now?
Me: 2.5 years
VO: And before that?
Me: With XYZ firm for 5 years.
VO: You had an L1B before that you travelled on, right sir?
Me: Yes sir, thats correct.
VO: OK, your Visa has ben Approved
Me: Thank you sir!

My advise, please don't assume that a USCIS approved petition is going to be a easy one for IV at Consulate, at least my case. Please review your petition thoroughly and prepare well.

Best Wishes!

L1 Blanket Approved
My interview was scheduled for 21st July @ 9 a.m. I reached the Consulate by 8 a.m and was done with my entire process by 9:15 a.m. There was a very short queue of people outside the building. Two checks were done before sending the candidate inside. In both the checks, the appointment confirmation was checked and if you are carrying phone/any other electronic items or wearing a watch(The watch was allowed but they asked me to keep it inside the folder)

I was inside the building by 8:20 a.m. At the first counter, they asked me to arrange the documents in the following order:

3 copies of 1st page of I-797
3 copies of 8 pages of I-129S
Demand Draft of 500$
Passport
DS-160(The one that was stamped at OFC)

I had already these docs in order because of help from this site. This saved time for me. The lady at the counter tied all three sets in different bundles and handed over to me and instructed me to go to the next counter which was in a different building right in front.

In the next building,I was asked to wait . After 5-10 minutes, they asked me to go to a particular counter. At the counter, he kept me waiting fr another 5 minutes, since he was doing something on his computer. Then he asked for all my docs. He kept the DD with himself and sent me to another counter.

On the next counter, only my passport was asked for. They checked few details, and then again sent me to another counter. Again the passport was checked and then finally I was sent in the queue for interview.

It took hardly just 5 minutes before I was sent to the interviewer from that queue. There are a lot of counters, so it does not take a lot of time.

Here is how it went with the interviewer:

He first asked me to handover the passport . Then the 3 bundled copies of the docs mentioned above:

Q1: Where do you work
Ans: I answered the name of Org.

He prob. googled about the org. a little bit, since later on after 2-3 questions he asked this is what your company works on?

Q2: How long have you been working for this org.
Ans: 4 years and 9 months

Q3: For how long will you be travelling?
Ans: 3 months

Q4: So, you would be coming back and going again therafter.
Ans: No, we are planning to complete the assignment in 3 months itself. There would not be any need to travel again.

Q5: Where will you be travelling in US?
Ans: Gave the location name

Q6: What is your specialization?
Ans: Answered in very simple words which did not include anything from the technology end. This was related to the propreitary application I had been working with.

Q7: Then a small follow up question specific to my specialization details

Q8: Would you be getting per diem plus indian salary?
Ans: yes, that's right.

And that's all. He did not say anything to me. He just went away from his seat for few seconds. He wanted to grab the stamp. Then he stamped my doc by approved status. I could see that from the window. So ,I was relieved. but was still waiting for him to say.

Then he kept my passport and handed over the remaining docs to me by saying. Your visa is approved. thank you.

The person was very calm and soft spoken. He just asked very basic questions.

It took hardly 5 minutes for the entire interview.

All the Best.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
