N 400/EWR
Applied N400 online on 08/11/2018. Bio metric reviewed on 09/11/2018 (Newark NJ office case). At that time it showed completion time 6 to 10 months. now shows we are still reviewing .
Till today no interview. Nothing update on online status.
Then on 10/24/2019 i filed online inquiry "out side normal processing time" and got same answer by email that we are still reviewing your case, no need to do any thing.
Does any body know why it is taking so much time in Newark NJ. It is more than 18 months

USCIS system for Interview scheduling.
Hi Guys,

I got this message below from USCIS about my pending N400 interview, Does anyone know how long it takes to be scheduled for interview in Long Island Field office? See message below;

Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for interviews at their local Field Office. Interview appointments are scheduled as slots become available at the Field Office. Once you have been scheduled for an appointment, you will receive an Interview Appointment Notice to appear at a certain date and time at your local Field Office. You must take the Interview Appointment Notice and photo ID to your appointment. Please review the Interview Appointment Notice for any other requirements.

Quality check?
Which one is the more recent/accurate on??

My account stated:

February 18, 2020
We approved your application
Your final step to becoming a citizen is to attend your naturalization ceremony

We will mail you a letter when we schedule your naturalization ceremony.

But the search tool on USCIS status says:

Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation
We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOE YYYY YYYY , be approved. On February 18, 2020, your case was submitted for quality review. This is a standard process we use to ensure the quality of our decisions. Once our quality review is done you will be scheduled for an oath ceremony. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Citizenship Retest.
Dear forumites,
I need your experiences and help in the following case:
I had my interview in January. I got at the end a letter telling that you passed your civics and English reading-writing tests. You need to improve your English understanding. So we will arrange your retest in 60 days.
I got my retest scheduled on May second weak. It states that you have to come for English and civic tests.
In this scenario, I want to know they will conduct the retest like the first one or only English understanding test!. Remeber they have given me in writing that I have cleared these two tests in my first interview. I could not reply in my first interview some meanings like 'parol' and 'prison camp' of my N400 form as I had trouble in understanding the IO assets.
Please help me to clear my retest.
Regards.
Ramirez

SF Bay area, passport received
Apr 3, 2019 - Filed N-400 online with my wife, GK 5 years. Expected completion date - April 2020.
Jan 13, 2020 - Interview taken. The oath for my wife scheduled immediately for Feb 12, for me scheduled 2 weeks later for the same date, Feb 12.
Feb 12, 2020 - Oath taken. 10 months 10 days from the beginning to the end. Applied for expedited passport right after the ceremony. Expected delivery date - 2-3 weeks.
Feb 21, 2021 - Passports received today by Fedex, less than 10 days after the oath.

We had 20 trips, 891 days outside the US in 5 years before filing N-400, very close to the limit of 913 days. Then we had one trip 93 days after filing. It concerned us a lot before the interview since the IO has the right to make their own decision about eligibility. Yet no questions asked about it for both of us.

But my IO asked me many questions about my membership in the communist party in my country which ended 30 years ago. He also asked questions about my 3-year mandatory military service in my country 50 years ago. It didn't prevent me from getting the citizenship but it might had been the reason why I received the oath invitation 2 weeks later than my wife.

Anyway, all's well that ends well.

Good luck to all of you, guys!

Decision can not yet be made N400
Before the naturalization interview, the IO told me that he can not make a decision today because he doesn't have my A file on hand. He said he would just review the N400 and give me the test. I passed the civic and English test. But can't get decision. Has anyone had similar experience? Why would they schedule my interview without having my file. So frustrating.
