N400
I filed January 2016
In line for interview July 2017
Interview schedules August 2017
The interview was October 2017 and few days before the interview it got cancelled due to unforeseen reasons

But when I called and asked why ?
it turned out that I am going extra security clearance since I am from a bad country.
FYI I only had one speeding ticket in a decade.
I asked a few times and I am under security clearance again. I am honestly worried is what security check needs two years and more.
I honestly stopped following my application anymore but wanted to share my experience.

Lockbox
Hi,

I am about to apply for my naturalization and I wanted to know whether to send to P.O Box in Dallas via USPS or Lewisville, TX via FedEx. Which is better? It seems I can send the G-1145 (e-notification of the application) only when I send it to the P.O Box facility. Is this true? Also, while sending it via standard mail do you send a cover letter saying this is your N400 application material or just send N400 form plus all documents? Finally, can we send to P.O Box via USPS with express delivery and tracking?

Thanks all and all the best to all in their journey!

I am currently studying for my citizenship exam. Hoping to get easy questions/answers. Will go through the forum to get a feel of how much more time is needed between interview and oath taking. Hoping to become an American around my 35th birthday in March - I can't believe this has taken around 12 years, but I am hoping the end is in sight.

(Online N400 app was buggy and crashed midway a few times and had to re-upload pdf of evidence 1 by 1 file - used Amex in case payment crashed for purchase protection)

Letter's in the mail but I'm away
My field office is Oakland. Anyone here that can share the typical time span between interview scheduling and the interview? I just got notice through USPS that my letter for interview with USCIS arrives today. Unfortunately, I'm gone until December 28th! My mail is on hold at USPS, I live alone and cannot arrange for anyone to pick up. I've called USCIS and they've told me they cannot provide the interview date over the phone.

Interview scheduling: Dec. 1st
Letter arrival: Dec 8th

Can anyone share whether I should be safe if I'm back on the 28th? I'm a bit worried.

13 months
I can finally put my timeline on here since the end is in sight for this process for me. I always see anxiety-laden posts asking about why there hasn't been any movement on people's applications after 3, 4, 5 months, etc. I really did appreciate the posts that said their process took a lot longer because it kept me from panicking. Here is my timeline:

Priority Date: Nov. 22, 2016
Finger Print: December 22, 2016

Nothing for 10 months. I did do an infopass and called to talk to a level 2 officer but I don't think that helped. The processing times for Cincinnati Field Office said I was still within processing times and that was just the reality. The people I spoke with, both on the phone and for infopass were really courteous and accommodating but there was just nothing they could do either. I suggest go by the processing times on the website and just enjoy your life while waiting. (I know, easier said than done. But try at least. Worrying just adds wrinkles to your face.)

Interview: November 16, 2017 (just a few days shy to a year after filing my N400). The officer couldn't be more pleasant and courteous. My interview lasted maybe 10 minutes at most including the routine questions and additional fingerprinting on top of the actual civics and English test. Very easy.

Questions were:
1. What is freedom of religion?
2. Give a state that borders Canada.
3. When was the Constitution written?
4. How many US senators are there?
5. What age do men have to sign up for military service?
6. What body of water borders the east coast?

Reading: What do US citizens pay the government. (or something along these lines)
Writing: We pay taxes.

Oath-taking: December 21, 2017

I already scheduled an appointment at the post office for a passport application for the next day.

Sending all people on this forum positive vibes and the assurance that all shall be well. Good luck!

Raleigh Durham N-400 interview schedules
On Dec 5 I received the following notice in email:

"On December 5, 2017, we scheduled an interview for your Form N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."

I have pre-arranged out of country trip and will be back on Jan 9th. I have not received the actual notice letter yet. Does any have experience with Raleigh office timeline for scheduling interviews? How long are they after the first (online) notice?

Thanks!
