Passport Delivery issues - Canada postal strike experience
Hi All,

I want to share with you all that how I co-ordinated with Canada Post to receive my Passport with US Visa stamped.

1. US Visa got stamped on 13-Dec-18
2. Got Passport tracking no. on 14-Dec-18 around 1.44 PM Vancouver time
3. Canada Post keep on changing delivery date from 17-Dec to 20-Dec at 00.01 hrs every day
4. My return flight to US is on 18-Dec at 1 PM Vancouver time

What I did:
1. Sent tweet to Canada Post Help and Canada Post thru Twitter on 16-Dec around 9 PM PST.
2. Got reply this morning, 17-Dec saying that they have escalated this to Processing team (but no luck)
3. Spoke to Canada Post Customer Care 866 607 6301 and explained my current passport issue and travel details. Customer Care Lady helped a lot, she raised Service Request and escalated this issue to her Supervisor. I explained him my current situation and he immediately spoke to Vancouver Processing Centre (He kept me on hold for 15 mins) and he said they are going to process my delivery (fingers crossed at 9 am this morning)
4. Went to Canada Post office to check my luck, but Lady at Post office said Passport is in transit but not sure when it will get delivered (fingers crossed again).
5. I tweeted again to know the status of my passport. Luckily issue got escalated and Lady from Customer Care took all the details and she directly spoke to Canada Post office employee where my passport is supposed to get delivered.
6. Around 2 PM - I went to double check and by that time my passport got delivered. Thank God.

My suggestion: Tweet Canada post and they are going to respond within an hour and trying to do their best to deliver passports.

I wish you all the very best.

H1b stamping in canada
hello all i am currently in usa in f-1 with valid ead and got h1-b approved in consular notification. I booked my visa interview at vancouver but dates avl were only apr 25 but my ead ends couple of days before that. I have a couple of questions:

1. Is it possible i may get an earlier date? or can i request an earlier date to the consulate? will they consider my scenario?

2. can i book calgary as the avl. date is in march and use my ds-160 that says vancouver? or do i need to create a new ds-160?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone please tell which dates are available for January for Toronto and Ottawa consulates?
Also, if I submit DS-160 with Toronto consulate, will I be able to change location afterwards, if yes, how?

Thank you in advance!

Vancouver,BC Experience - 12/13/2018
It's my turn to give back to this forum. Here is my overall experience.

Applied Canada visitor visa in August, 2018 and took 2 weeks to get stamped passport.

Completed DS-160 form in Nov, 2018 and booked PAI date in Vancouver, 13-Dec, 7:30 AM. I know dates are not available until Feb/March if you select YES for the option if you are travelling from other country to get US visa stamped in Canada. So I selected the Option NO and got date for 13-Dec as I need visa to be stamped ASAP.

Reached Vancouver, BC on 12-Dec and stayed at Hyatt Regency which is 3 mins walk to Consulate.

Interview day: 13-Dec-2018

Reached Consulate at 7.15 am and allowed after 10 mins for 7.30 am appointment.
Security check and finger prints at the first place..took around 15 mins..Security guards will guide thru out this process.
Security guard took group of people to 20th floor for actual Visa interview
3 counters are open..

Interview Questions: Male Officer

(1) What's your designation
(2) How long with this company
(3) How many people you manage
(4) Are you People manager or Process manager

No questions to dependents.

Golden words : Your Visa has been approved and you will get passport in 3-4 days.

We can hear other people visa interview also (this is very closed and small place)...most B1/B2 visas got rejected and other work related visas got approved in most cases (this is my observation).

Waiting for email from Consulate/Canada post office to pick up Passport at VAN BENTALL CENTRE PO which is 2 mins walk from US Consulate.

Still the status is showing as Appointment..

Thank you to this forum who helped me immensely prepare for my H-1B visa interview today.

Had my interview 7:45am, reached 7:30 am, was told to come back at 7:45 am as they do not open before that. Wont go over all the details until interview as many threads discuss it accurately.

Interview Questions (female officer):

- Where do you work?
- Salary?
-Education? (In US or elsewhere)
- Which countries visited in the last 5 years?
- Kids in the US? On answering yes, follow up question: US Citizens?
- Since how long have I been in the US?
Based on my answer, I was asked if I had an approved I-140 (Started taking it out to show but officer said not required)
- Stated Visa is approved, should get it in 3-4 days

With the little I could hear while waiting in queue, the other female office was asking similar questions to another Chinese H-1B candidate.

Hope this helps.

Hi all

I had my appointment for H1B stamping renewal at 7:45 am on 12/11/2018 and was asked very straighforward questions.

- where do you work
- what do you do for the company
- how long have you been with the company?
- which countries have you visitied in the last 5 years?
- are you married? kids?
- how long have you been on H1B ?

your visa is approved!

My question is My appointment was complete around 8:45 am on Tuesday, 12/11/2018 but my status on the tracking page still shows as "Appointment" and it is almost noon on Wednesday 12/12/2018.

Is this normal? When will the status change?
