L1 visa interview in Vancouver
Hi All
I wanted to share my wife’s experience of L1B visa stamping in Canada.
She recently had her L1B blanket petition interview in the Vancouver consulate and received her stamped visa 2 days after the interview. We are both Canadian PR holders.
She had initially scheduled a regular visa interview for first week of August in Vancouver. However it was cancelled by the consulate and we scheduled another interview for May 2022. We applied for an expedited appointment citing family separation as the reason (We have been separated for 2 years as I live in the US and she was in India). The EA was approved within 36 hours and she was given an interview date 2 weeks after the EA was approved.
The process on the day of interview was very smooth. The interview was scheduled at 930 AM and she was allowed to enter at 920 AM. First, she went to a counter where a basic document check was done to confirm interview date, DS 160 and photograph etc. Next she went to security. Third, was a counter for biometrics and her documents were sorted by the staff and handed back to her. Fourth, a counter to pay fraud prevention fee (USD 500). Fifth, interview with visa officer. The interview was relatively short. Below are the questions:
Q1: Which company do you work for?
Q2: What is your current role with your employer?
Q3: Where in the US are you going?
Q4: What will be your role in the US?
Q5: What specialised knowledge is required for this role?
Q6: What will be your salary?
The VO then handed her a pamphlet stating worker rights in the US and said that her passport will be returned within a week.
We had opted for premium delivery and received the stamped passport within 2 days of the interview.
Hope this experience is helpful for someone in a similar situation.

Passport delivery at Calgary location
Hey guys, writing this question here in case it's helpful for other applicants. I had my H interview at the Calgary consulate on Aug 16th. I brought with me an updated DS-160 to the appointment because some details changed in my application and the AIS website wouldn't let me update the DS-160 online. The consulate proceeded with scanning the new DS-160 and my visa got approved. Yesterday the CEAC website status updated to "issued", however the AIS website still shows "appointment" because it's still linked to the old DS-160. Now my question is, does the consulate in Calgary usually email you when a tracking number is available? If not, is there a way for me to access that information given I can't seem to be able to see that in the AIS website? Thank you all!

H1B IWP Experience Vancouver
Hi all,

Posting my experience as I didn't see many IWP posts during covid. I have Canada PR and I am eligible for IWP (Dropbox) since I had my first H1B stamp in Canada.

Aug 4th, 2021, Dropped off the package at Canada post location in Richmond, BC
Aug 5th, Delivered to the consulate
Aug 11th, DS 160 case status updated to Application received
Aug 12th, Case status updated to Administrative processing
Aug 17th, Visa is issued, and a return label is generated.

Hope this helps if someone is planning to get visa stamping from Canada.

Curious - Why would people with Canadian PR want to move to the US on H1B only to live an unsettled life?
I've seen people here who have Canadian PR and they are wanting to move to the US on H1B. For Indians, the wait for US Green Card is indefinitely long (20+ years). So why would anyone want to give up their PR, only to live an unsettled life in the US??

I'm on the other end, currently living in the US on H1B but planning to move to Canada on PR. Hence, curious if I'm missing something.

L1 Appointment
Hi
My L1 Individual petition process is underway.
I want to plan ahead in terms of relocation to USA hence this question.

What's the current trend in terms of wait time for booking a L1 visa appointment in any location in canada. What are my chances of getting EA approved?
Recent experience or tips anyone can share?

Thanks for your valuable time.
