This site helped to alleviate my anxiety /restlessness while going through 221g process. Below is my travails with 221g monster
June -3rd - Drop box
June-12th - Received passports with blue sheet (marking Petition docs, Client letter, salary slips, W2) and asked to appear for Interview
June -18th - Attended Interview. normal questions lasted 10 mins - only Client letter was asked. Issued 221g Blue sheet again marking Admin processing and VO informed to check the CEAC website
Approx - June last week - Client legal team received the mail and sent response within a day
No communication for a month
July - 23rd - Received mail from State dept to submit passport
July - 24th - Submitted passport at VAC BLR
July - 25th - Admin processing date change
July - 26th - Status changed from AP to Issued.
Due to this unexpected process, had to cancel the flights and wait over a month at home with stress/helplessness.

1. June-10-2019 - Eligible for Dropbox - Submitted documents(Dropbox)
2. June-17-2019 - Passport returned with Blue Slip-221(g) requesting to submit few documents and to appear in person interview.
3. June-25-2019 - Attended in-person interview and issued again with a new blue slip requesting for client letter and returned my passport and all documents to me.
4. July-3-2019 - Submitted my document via email as requested.
5. July-14-2019 - Still there's no update.
Update:
6. July-17-2019 - Received a mail to submit the passport. Status in CEAC website not yet updated. Still the same as of my interview date - June-25-2019.
7. July -19-2019 - Submitted my passport at VAC centre Chennai.
8. July-22-2019 - Case status updated in the CEAC website as "ISSUED".
9. July-24-2019 - Received a mail to collect my passport.
10. July-25-2019 - Collected my passport.

20-June - visa interview. Received 221 g. Returned all my documents including my passport back to me.
22-July - got an email to submit my passport. Status remained "Administrative Processing"
23-July - submitted my passport at one of the VFS offices
25-July - last update date in CEAC is changed to 25-Jul and the status remained "Administrative Processing"
26-July - status changed to "Issued"

6/20: Interview Date. Received 221g blue slip requesting offer letter, resume, publications, research, position, funding & travel
6/23: Submitted Documents. Got Auto Confirmation
6/24: Got an email from Mumbai consulate to format my documents. Sent invitation letter separately, & all the other documents under a separate header embedded in a single word document. Research, Publications were not applicable to me
6/25: Resubmitted documents with their requested format with no auto confirmation
6/27: Emailed them to check if they received documents with the requested format. No Response
7/1: Spoke with USTRAVELDOCS they asked me to resend them. Resent my documents
7/3: Spoke with USTRAVELDOCS they asked me to send documents with detailed history of communication to them & escalated my case
7/10: Got an email from US Consulate confirming documents are received & started processing
7/19: Request to submit passport
7/22: Passport submitted
7/24: Visa Issue

Was eligible for Dropbox as I had to renew my existing visa (I am a full time employee for a product based company). Below is a timeline that I had to go through: -
1) Dropped my passport on June 10, 2019
2) On June 18, 2019 I received 221 G for in person Interview
3) Was asked basic question in an interview on June 19, 2019 and was handed blue slip for extra documents (Invitation Letter, Resume, Publication and travel history)
4) Submitted Documents on June 21, 2019
5) Received email to drop passport on July 19, 2019 and I dropped my passport on the same day
6) Status updated to Administrative processing on July 22, 2019
7) Status changed to Issued on July 23, 2019 and I collected my passport
