positive experience with traveling with Advance Parole
Hi all,
after researching a lot about experiences of others with traveling with an advance parole card I want to add my experience since it was a really good one! I am in the process to become a permanent resident (marriage based, filed I485) and just waiting for my interview appointment notice. I just used my Advance Parole to visit my family in Germany for a month and my husband and I just returned into San Francisco Airport yesterday evening. The re-entry was easy and quick, I just had to go to a secondary check, which is the common procedure when you use that card and all they wanted to know was where I am at in the AOS process right now. That was it, the officer said you're fine and we were good to go. It went way quicker than I thought. I was a bit worried before traveling because an immigration lawyer told me it was risky to use the Advance Parole and he would advise me to only use it in case of an emergency. I asked another immigration lawyer (Jacob Sapochnik, San Diego) and he said I could travel. I took his word, I really wanted to go. I am really glad I took the risk since I hadn't seen most of my family and friends for 2 years and in the end the whole experience was very positive.
I am happy to be able to add something positive here :). Hopefully it will encourage some of you!
Ps. I file for AOS in September 2017 and am still waiting for the appointment notice for the green card interview at this point.
Greetings, Kat

Emergency Advance Parole Travel/Overstay.
Hey guys please need your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

My mum passed on recently and I got approved for an emergency advance parole to attend her funeral next month. I have a pending AOS. I have done my interview and it went well still waiting for the GC. (Atlanta field office).

I overstayed my B1 visa for 3 years before my AOS through marriage.

My lawyer says I shouldn't travel!!! that I will trigger the 10 years ban.
This is my MUM!!!

Peoples experiences here says otherwise.

I want to ignore her advice and travel .

Advanced parole
Hello guys
I want to ask for recommendations. I want to travel to my country for a week. I am still waiting my interview. I received the approval of my I-130 in January. I didn't received my EAD yet because they asked me for more documentation which I sent already. I requested for an advanced parole also and they sent me the approval letter. I have been 13 months here. So my I-94 expired due to I arrived here with a b1 visa. I am afraid to leave the country and wouldn't be able to re enter because I don't feel that the advanced parole is safe. I am afraid to leave my husband here and I couldn't live without him. I just want to know if having the advanced parole , passport and my I-130'approval , my receipts will be enough for re enter, knowing that I don't have the EAD yet.

Traveling with combo card first week of May 2018
Hello everyone I posted a couple of days ago about my intention to travel with AP and I actually did use my combo card through the Fort-Lauderdale airport, I went to Panama for 7 days and came back with no issues, I knew exactly what it was going to happen thanks to many of the experiences posted here, when I came back they put me in the tourist line, the officer was very kind he took my fingerprints and took a picture as well, he did not ask any question about the reason of my trip he check everything on his computer took my passport and escorted me to a room where I waited less than 10 minutes, then I was called my passport was stamped for a year and they told me welcome to the United States, I was so happy and relieved because I was a little worried I have to be honest but thank God everything was really smooth, I also want to add that I came here with a visa and I overstayed for 4 years I got married to a US citizen and I got my advance parole through marriage, I have never had DACA, so now I'm waiting for my interview which should be coming soon I filed my application last year in October, in January I received an update saying that my case was ready for interview and have been waiting since then in April the status changed to "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information fo your case" I investigated and apparently is a pattern that happens before receiving the interview date. Finally I want to encourage everyone with a similar case to take the risk but I wouldn't advise to travel if you've had criminal records that would definitely be an issue otherwise go for it and enjoy it. Good luck!

Traveling with Russian Passport
Hey guys, I am new here, but I've been reading your experiences for a long time now.
Let me share mine.
So first of all, I am slightly freaking out about the fact that I applied for a green card in June 2017 and still haven't had the interview scheduled. Atlanta processing times now increased to 11 and 23 months! I have a slight suspicion that my process has to do with my Nationality.

But the point of the story is that me and my husband planned a trip to Mexico for our honeymoon next month and I am freaking out about using my AP for the first time. I've been strongly advised by my fellow Russian Immigrants not to go to Russia with it (I haven't been home for 2 years now). I've seen all of your stories and as far as i understand it is pretty safe to travel with AP if all your other documentation is okay and you don't have a criminal background. I'm just worried that my nationality might be a problem. Has anyone traveled outside the US with a Russian passport?

Also I want to share my experience with all the Russians who want to go to Mexico for vacation while AOS is pending.
My husband and I were trying to look for places that don’t require a visa. So I searched the Internet and found out that Russians do not need to obtain a visa prior to coming, however, they need to get an E-visa, which is an electronic equivalent that you just fill out online. I’ve been researching for hours and couldn’t find the website where you fill that one out. I’ve searched in both English and Russian languages, went to the Consulate page which is completely in Spanish and doesn’t even offer an option of English language. All I could find there is that if you do not hold a valid visa (mine expired after I graduated 2 years ago) Advance Parole is not enough. That’s when I realized that there is something wrong with this. So I emailed the Consulate and they replied really quick with an answer that Russians who are traveling from Russia can get an E-visa, however, since I live and work in the US, I need to obtain an actual visa through the Consulate. There is only 3 weeks before the trip left. And knowing how all other visas are obtained in Russia, American F1 takes up to 3 months, Schengen about 2 weeks and so on. Plus trying to make an appointment. I started freaking out and looked for the answers online. Again. I could not find any related information on how long it takes to obtain the visa. So I emailed the consul again and got the answer: if approved, it takes about 2 hours to issue it. What a relief.

So if you travel to Mexico by air from the US with your Russian passport, make sure you get a visa at the nearest Consulate prior to your trip!

I hope that will help someone cuz I literally went through hell.

Traveling on an AP/Combo card around the initial AOS interview date
Hi everyone,

I recently got to know that I have been scheduled for an interview on the 21st of May in Charleston SC. Initially, I was planning to travel in May(almost the entire month) but I was taken by surprise when I got the interview notice in the mail. I am very conflicted regarding when should I travel. I could pre-pone my trip and come back before the interview, or go immediately after the initial interview(say 7-10 days after the interview), or cancel my trip altogether(I need to be back by mid June as I am starting off with my work). Can someone who has experience(or know of someone who has) traveling around interview dates on an AP guide me regarding the implications/risks if any. Thank you!

No Issues with Travel Card
I remember writing here months before being all nervous about using my Travel Combo Card.

But wow... it was a great and smooth experience, guys !

When I landed at LAX 3 weeks ago (after overstaying here in the US for couple of months), I showed my EAD/Travel Combo Card and was told by the officers to go to the Green Card line. Which was a shorter line compared to the usual lines i always used to get stuck at LAX!

My turn came and the officer at the counter basically did the same usual procedure. No questions asked whatsoever. He just told me that to standby here and someone will escort you.

Then 2 mins later, another officer escorted me and another passenger into a separate, secured room. Phones were strictly prohibited in this room. Had to switch them off.

In this room I waited about 25 mins, my name got called out and the officer handed me over my stamped passport. Again no questions asked whatsoever.

So to those of you being all nervous to use this card to go in and out of the US, dont be nervous. It is fine really. We really do over think sometimes. Nothing to worry about.

I do advice you to travel out if you have considered it but too afraid to do so.
Was great!. All the best and happy travelling !
