Used AP to go on a cruise
Hey everyone,

I've been lurking on these forums for awhile and have used the information here to my advantage, so I figured I'd return the favor and possibly help someone else out.

My wife's I-485 application has been pending for nearly 2 years now (USCIS lost the application when we moved). We didn't apply for AP originally because we expected a relatively quick adjustment timeline and didn't have any immediate travel needs. This summer we decided we were sick of waiting and wanted to travel. So we sent in the AP application in July and received the document in about 3 weeks (super fast!).

Similar to most of the experiences on here, we were nervous to use the AP but decided to book a cruise with some friends. It took us a few extra minutes to board at the cruise terminal (Miami) because the cruise employee had never seen the AP document before. She went and spoke with her manager and cleared us to board. When we returned, we went through the immigration line. The officer checked my passport and we gave my wife's passport and AP to him. He told us we'd need to go to the secondary screening room so they could verify that everything was ok. We went to the room and sat there for about 10 minutes while an officer typed a bunch of the info into the computer. He seemed pretty inexperienced with the AP document, but was nice about it. He asked us if they had told us when we were going to receive the green card and we told him we weren't sure, but hopefully soon. He returned the AP (both copies) without any stamps. I asked him if he needed to take a copy and stamp them and he said, "Nope, you're all set to go." So we grabbed our things and left.

It was a pretty relaxed entry process, and I'd imagine that airport entries are bit more hardcore (as in actually stamping the documents). But my advice to anyone looking to travel on AP is to go for it. It was quick and painless.

Advance Parole Question! Help appreciated
Hi all,

I've been following these forums for a long time and have appreciated all the guidance. I filed an adjustment of status application in March, recieved a request for more evidence, and they recieved my response on April 20. I recieved my combo EAD/AP card in June, less than three months after they recieved my additional evidence.

When I filed my I-131, I stated that I wanted to go to Canada for a wedding and to visit my parents. I also checked the "one trip" box. The card didn't arrive in time for me to go on that planned trip, but it appears that I was sent the multiple-entry AP card, because there it is valid for a year and there are no Terms and Conditions on the card (is there another way to tell if it is limited to one trip?).

Here is my question: my Canadian parents will be living in Mexico for three months over the winter. They bought me a plane ticket to go visit them for a week in January. I feel like it will be risky to use my AP card to visit them in Mexico, on vacation, when the reason I was granted AP was to go to Canada. I called the USCIS help line to ask an agent about this, and they said that it does not matter what the original intent of my I-131 form said, now that I'm approved with the multiple entry AP I can travel on different trips. Has anyone used their AP card for a different trip than their original I-131 stated? Do the border guards ask you a lot of questions about why you travelled to where you did?

It seems like I would be fine to use my AP to visit my parents in Mexico instead of Canada, but I'm just terrifed that something will happen at the border on my way home and I won't be able to get back in the U.S. Any guidance or advice will be appreciated!

AM SO HAPPY GETTING MY HUSBAND BACK
What else can i say rather than to thank Doctor Casera Zaza { [email protected] } who God used to reunite my marriage. Each day of my life, i ask God to bless Dr. Casera Zaza for he has made my life complete by bringing back my wife to me and for this reason, i made a vow to my self that i will testify on the internet to let the world know that Dr. Casera Zaza is a God on Earth. My wife and i had a fight for three days which led to our divorce. On this faithful day, i came across a testimony of how Dr. Casera Zaza helped a lady in getting back her lover. So, i contacted him and explained to him and he told me that my days of sorrows are over that my husband will come back to me within 12 to 16 hours. Could you believe it, my wife came home begging that she needs me back and now we are living happily for the past 2 years now. Do you need any kind of help? Contact him now via email: { [email protected] } or you can call me for more info on +1 (203) 702-9280 Tomas Kokyova.

Lawyer did not submit AP application
My lawyer forgot to apply for AP when she submitted my EAD renewal. Now I must do it as quickly as I can since I want to travel by the end of January.
I have a question about the processing time. Since my EAD (765) is still pending, do I need to reset the clock and wait 3 more months for the AP approval to come or it should come whenever EAD is sent.
Thank you!

Advance Parole and Overstay
Hello Friends,

I had a meeting with my attorney last night and It was a lot disappointing. I was so excited about all your experiences of traveling with advance parole that I was already making plans. The attorney told me and my husband that he had a client that traveled with advance parole and was actually allowed back in the US, however when she had her interview the IO told her she needed a waiver, long story short she provided several waiver and none of them had been approved, she had to go to court and nothing, right now she is in removal proceedings. I came to the US in 2011 with a J1 Visa -NO restrictions apply- and I have overstay for 6 years. I thought that was not an issue with the Matter of Arrabaly Yerrabelly but How can you explain this lady's case.... I don't know what to think. So practically you can travel and be allowed back, but you could face a problem at the interview and asked to get a waiver to adjust you status???? have you heard something like that? any experiences??? Please need help I really want to travel so bad but I am now afraid...

Time for AP
Applying through my spouse (Petition received by them Oct 12 2017), I was planning on traveling outside the US using my AP roughly 90 days from the original application.
Can I expect my AP to come back by then or should I start planning for an alternative date.
I did already complete the biometrics last week.

Travelling on current AP with pending AP application
I heard that some USCIS service centers are denying I-131 (AP) if you travel outside the country even on a currently valid AP. I am in such a situation. Due to the long wait times I applied for a renewal proactively while already having my previous valid AP.
Is it safe for me to travel during the time the renewal is in progress?
