My Experience with Advance Parole with DACA – For Work Purposes

First of all I have to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you who have shared your experience on this site. Because of you I had the courage to travel outside of the US into my homeland, Mexico after 20 years of living in the states.

I applied to for Advance Parole through DACA November 4, 2016 – for work purposes. I actually needed to be out of the country for a work conference so I went into my local USCIS office to request an Emergency parole (back in November) – which was denied because according to them it was not an emergency. Therefore, I had to wait the “normal process” which took about 2.5 months. The caveat here is that I originally applied for specific dates of travel (in November 2016) that obviously were expired by the time I was granted AP. For that reason alone I was so scared to take the leap of faith and leave the country.

I traveled from Denver to Mexico City on March 1 – 8. Like most of you that have already traveled I was trying really hard to enjoy the trip and not think about the much anticipated return, but I couldn’t. I was really nervous when I landed in Mexico City I was nearly crying. I knew that there was nothing I could do to change the fact that upon my return I would be facing uncertainty. So I took the decision to enjoy my short time in Mexico and make the best of it – take it from me – best decision!!
I went to Valle de Bravo, Ixtapa and pretty much saw the most iconic places in Mexico City (El Zocalo, Polanco, Condesa, Lomas de Chapultepec, Basilica de Guadalupe, Coyoacan, Centro, Etc).

The takeaway here is to take that leap of faith, nothing anyone will tell you will be comforting enough – it’s inevitable you will feel scared. But the truth is, I’d take the chance again if I had it because the feeling of coming back safe and sound if MAGNIFICENT! If you are approved already take it, we don’t know what tomorrow brings. All we have is the present and we must take advantage of every single opportunity!

Carpe Diem and God Bless you All!

FUN FACTS:

• The AP Document had dates valid for: ONE DAY | ONE ENTRY | February 23, 2017 – April 29, 2017
• The officer kept both AP documents and only stamped my passport – not sure if this has happened to someone else?
• Traveled through Houston to Mexico City – Documented in Houston - Denver final destination
• Submitted November 4, 2017
• Approved January 29
• Received the documents in the Mail February 23
• Travel Dates: March 1 -8

On my way back
Hey guys, this was my experience. I applied for advance parole September 26th and got approved February 10th. I traveled February 24th to February 26th. I crossed through eagle pass tx by car. On my way back the line of cars was small wr waited about 30 minutes went through the toll booth and they told me to park my car and come in the office. I went inside she asked me for my documents only the advance parole and my work authorization card. She asked me all my personal information. She then toom my fingerprints and stamped my documents. I was good to go. Dont worry guys. Good luck everybody.

DACA & AP
Hey all,

My fiance mailed his request for AP around the end of October at the same time as he applied for his DACA renewal. For whatever reason, USCIS didn't process his AP as "Received" until January 3rd. His DACA status has been "Received" as of November 17th. Could it be that they delayed the AP to match it up with his DACA so he'd receive a combo card? I guess I'm just hopeful that he could be approved on the 17th of this month as opposed to this month.

I-131, Advance Parole Approval Received
Hello everyone!

I received a text message this morning saying i was approved. I checked my case on USCIS, and confirmed it (this is for DACA btw). Here is my timeline:

Received: 11/25/2016
Expedite request submitted: 12/05/2016
Expedite request denied: 12/13/2016 (No RFE, simply denied)
Approved: 03/08/2017

My original requested travel dates were 01/01/2017 - 02/01/2017. I did not receive an RFE asking me to select new dates, simply approved. I guess I will find out what dates they have given me when i receive the travel document.

My USCIS case tracker says "We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice." Did anyone else's say this? I'm confused as to whether they send an approval letter and then the travel document or if it means they are sending my travel document. Please advice.

September Applicants?
Anyone still waiting since September?
I'm fully aware that their site says their working on cases from Sept. 16, 2016.
Mine would fall in place 11 days after that (sept. 27th).

Still Wating.
They received my Doc on Sept. 27th 2016.
Still pending.
I've called and submitted multiple inquiries.
I've also requested for my case to be expedited twice already.
Yesterday was the most recent.
Like all the other ones, they've mailed me a generic letter stating that I'd get a response in 30-60 days. Still nothing.
I'm over it.
Pray for me guys.
