Back from Mexico
Left on 2/17/17 from LAS airport returned 2/27/16

When you check in on your way back make sure you have AP letters, passport, and work Auth card they will ask for it and then give you boarding passes after looking at every thing.

When you arrive back into US there will be two lines US citizen and Foreigner I asked the lady working there is I can go in foreigner line even if I was a citizen and we came together she said no but then said yes because we were sharing the Customs paper they make you fill out on plane.

We were then called by officer they looked at my US passport and asked what our relationship was I said domestic partner we live together he said okay. Then he went and checked his AP papers wasn't familiar with it kept asking why is there 2 copies and why is one of them not stamped my fiancé tried to explain it was AP with DACA still wasn't familiar. he told me I would have to go to baggage claim and he was going to have to wait for officer to come get him so they can stamp paper inside.

After getting luggage I was waiting for my fiancé about 10 mins and he came out said they asked him no questions inside they just called his name and gave all documents back stamped and told him to have a great day.

I am glad we made it safe our lawyer had told us we had nothing to worry about to go and enjoy time with family.

AP
I mailing my AP application today. I currently have TPS from El Salvador but I need to travel for an emergency, however If approved, I am worried because several people have advised me not to travel at this time. I have several family members that have travelled with no problems with AP but it was before Sep 2016. Curious how long the application takes to be approved also.

AP for work purposes
Has anyone traveled recently with AP for business purposes? It appears a lot of the feedback here is based on family emergencies but would like some feedback from folks traveling abroad for work.

I'm back from Veracruz with AP
Hi everyone. i posted about two weeks ago about me making the decision to travel using advance parole. After getting some good advice from some of you i decided to travel to Veracruz to visit my family. I left on the 20th and just came back the 25th (Saturday) through Huston Texas airport. My older brother who also has AP traveled with me and my husband. My experience in Mexico was amazing and sad--so much poverty it just breaks my heart.

Overall, my experience traveling back to the USA was like this---- we left Veracruz on Friday and we had to spend the night in Mexico city. Our plane would depart at 6 am on Saturday so we woke up at 2am because the airport told us we had to be there 3 hours in advance. We waited in line to speak with one of the representatives of the airline. My brother and I showed her our passports, AP forms and ID. she printed out our tickets and we were ready. Before boarding the airplane the airline crew check our papers once again and put a stamp saying (OK DOCS). when we arrived at Bush international airport we went throught the non-citizen side. There was a long line so we missed our next airplane but thats okay. We waited.. it was finally our turn and the officer check my passport, AP forms, Work Permit- He then, send me to a second inspection and since no one was there, the officer who happens to be a Hispanic Officer asked me if i was under the DACA program. I said yes. He was very nice and polite- the whole time he spoke to me in spanish. He asked me if i finish school in the US and i said yes. I asked him if he saw alot of kids traveling with AP- He responded "yes, everyday but some are criminals and i have no idea how they were able to qualified for DACA" he also said in spanish "por esas personas malas todos terminan pagando. After chatting with him for 5 minutes my brother entered the room. the other officer asked if we were related and i said yes. Later the Hispanic officer handed me back my passport witha stamp inside saying PAROLED and told me to wait outside because i coulnt wait in there for my brother. 2 minutes after i came out, my brother walked out too and we were ready to go home. I asked him "what did they say to you" he said "nothing, they just handed me my papers back" lol we actually missed our connecting flight becasue we spend a long time waiting in line to go through immigration... but thats okay- just remember to book a long connection flight so you are not rushing like us. Other tips-- make sure you make copies of all your documents and give them to someone you trust. just in case you loose them. Make sure you keep your documents secure. I actually kept them inside a zipplot bag in case of rain or etc.

If you need more tips just ask... have a safe trip guys
