Travel under Trump
Hi everyone!

This entire time, I've been looking at all of y'all's experiences and I've been wanting to share mine with you. I've been a DACA recipient since March 2015 and have renewed until March 2019 (unless Trump takes it away at some point). Keep in mind that I am doing most of this through a lawyer because I am married and will be adjusting my status soon (hopefully).

Sent AP documents and evidence (humanitarian reasons): November 26, 2017
Request for expedite through Tier 1 officer (called): January 6, 2017
AP Approved: January 16, 2017
AP mailed: January 17, 2017
AP received in mail: January 23, 2017

I got approved from 1/16/17- 3/15/17 but my lawyer advised my husband and I to go asap so I can get my adjustment of status papers in and don't have to risk Trump taking away DACA before I travel.

We took her advice and traveled from 2/2/17 through 2/5/17. I am in college so a long trip was not feasible. I also had an exam on 2/7/17 so I definitely couldn't stay too long! I flew from DFW Airport to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (where I was born and where my grandmother is) and it was AMAZING! I hadn't been back to Mexico since I left when I was 3 and I actually hadn't been in Guadalajara since I was about 1 year old. I am now about to turn 22. It was definitely an emotional roller-coaster for me but goodness was it worth it!

As for my experience getting BACK to the US, I must say I was worried for nothing! My husband went with me through the "Non US citizens" line and he handed the immigration officer his passport then I tried to hand him everything I had (EAD past, current, and future, Texas driver's license, AP document, DACA renewal approval, etc.) but all he needed was my current EAD and my AP document with my passport. He asked us how we're related and how long I was in Mexico and we answered his questions, but it honestly just seemed like he was trying to make conversation, not like he was trying to intimidate us at all. He input some information, told us to go with him and we went into a room with a few others (like 7 other people) and we just sat and waited. I saw a guy get called to a private room behind a locked door and I got a little nervous honestly. After about 20-30 minutes of waiting, an immigration officer behind a glass window called my name, handed me my documents, and sent me on my way! It was super easy. I was worried for nothing. I am not sure if they're just so familiar with it now that they don't care to look too far into it or if it was easy because I honestly speak better English than I do Spanish and my luggage had Texas A&M logos on it (where I go to college) so they could tell I'm pretty integrated into the American life.

Now that we're back and I have the legal entry stamp on my passport, my husband and I are going to meet with the lawyer to get my status adjusted. I'm so excited!

I hope this gives some of y'all a little bit of hope! Trump being in office means nothing to immigration officers right now and I hope it works out for all of y'all! If y'all have any questions on my experience, I'd be happy to help! I had been following this thread the entire time I was waiting on my AP and everyone on here has helped me so much!

In Mexico right now! With AP
Wanted to give courage and receive encouragement and prayers over my way.
I am now in Mexico under AP visiting my Sick Grandma whom I haven't seen since I was 2, I am now 26 and it's so surreal to be here walking around with my brother who I have also not seen in 6 years. You guys I received my AP
The 18th of January telling me that I would be able to visit my family from January 20th til February 24th. I literally cried of happiness when my mom sent me the news! This was the news I had been waiting since last June of 2016. And to finally receive it now that Trump is President and to make it even more of an irony, on his first day of Presidency. I had to come. There was not a chance I was going to let this opportunity pass, even my lawyer told me to be cautious of my decision.
Seeing you guys stories gave me some encouragement to be brave and take this huge risk that could put me on a path to citizenship via my Husband. I keep hearing all this negativity (family & friends) about not being able to go back and why did I come, but seriously this only makes me want to be even braver and ready to cross back over to my 2 little girls and husband in NC. For everyone who is over here in my same shoes , stay positive and believe in the better good and have immense faith! Everything worth having is worth the risk! I will keep you guys updated once I go back. My flight leaves Monday the 13th and I've been here since the 4th! Thanks everyone. <3 #Dreamers

Denied AP for Work Related Purposes
Hello everyone,

My experience is in reference to a denied Advance Parole (AP) for business purposes.
I attended an "in-person" interview along with a lawyer that I hired. I live in California and work for a well known tech company. My travel purposes required me to travel to Mexico City to urgently meet with a few vendors. I manage a multi-million dollar account but unfortunately this did not appear to have an impact on my case.

Although my AP application was denied in person, I was told that I could submit my application via mail.
I did so and since then I have received a receipt from USCIS along with a LIN or case number. You can use your LIN number to check the status of your case here: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do
My case was received on December 2nd and I am waiting for approval.

A few closing thoughts... The Department of Homeland Security is highly aware of the political climate and the increase in AP applications. There can only be so many terminally ill family members or urgent reasons to travel. Unfortunately, until the new President discloses the roadmap for us DREAMERS, I can only encourage all of us to make ourselves irreplaceable; By that I mean, volunteer in your communities, go to college, launch new businesses, dream high and apply for challenging job positions! But most importantly, be willing to engage in peaceful dialog with people who oppose our immigration status. Show them who we are and how much we have learned to love this country - the land of free and the home of the brave. WE ARE BRAVE!

Taking the Risk will be worth it!
My husband got his AP approved back in January, and has been terrified to leave to Mexico with everything you hear on the news. But he is taking the risk; we are flying to Mexico City Friday night, and return 2/16/17 at SMF airport. I will post his story upon our return. I have faith that everything will be okay. Good luck to everyone!

My experience back.
Hey guys I'm back from Mexico!

I left Friday February 3rd and came back yesterday February 6th in the morning. My fiance, his dad, and myself drove to Juarez. When coming back to the US we came back through a different border, not through Juarez anymore we came though Santa Teresa border because they had told us they were nicer there, well we got there super early like around 6 am. They made me get off and go into the offices so they could check into my AP papers. Well the office was still closed and they didn't open until 8 am. There was only one person there working but technically they didn't open until 8, he told me I had to wait. I was like great, now I have to wait anxiously for 2 more hours, I just wanted to get it over with. I think the guy felt sorry for me cause I was just there waiting and he told me to give him my AP papers, my passport, work permit, and state I.D. He said he was going to start looking into them. By that time it was like around 6:30 am. He asked me if this was going to help me with my legal status, I told him yes. I said he was very happy to hear that. He asked me where I lived, for how long, if I was in school. He was the nicest person ever. He then asked for my fingerprints and picture. Some other were coming in as well so we was helping them at the same time. He then asked for my finger prints again. While doing that we talked about a lot of stuff, about my wedding, if I liked Mexico, about the Muslims ban, about his job, it was so crazy because we were just having normal conversation. He even offered me something to eat and drink. I said no haha. But that was so nice of him. He said we were just waiting back on my fingerprints. That is what took a while. When he received them he said he was just going to stamp my AP papers and I was good to go. I got my AP papers stamped. I did not get my passport stamped because I guess they don't do that when you cross by land, they only do it if you're flying. He only took copies of my AP papers and he gave me both back and I was out of there by 8 am. Right before they opened. :)

It was such an incredible experience to be able to go back to Mexico after 22 years. And I was incredibly lucky I had him deal with my AP papers. I couldn't have had a nicer person. I strongly recommend to travel if you have AP, but just a short trip because with Trump you just never know when he'll decisive to change things around.

I'll keep everyone in my prayers so you all can have an amazing experience like I did. :)
