Potomac - Don’t apply for N400 if you are close to I751 processing times
Applying for N400 if you are about 6-7 months away from I751 processing times will delay the process by another 7-8 months . Potomac will transfer your case to NBC after 26 months and then depending on your local field office it will be another 6-8 months of waiting making it about 34 months. If you don’t apply for N400 then Potomac will process it in 26 months .
Applied for I751 Potomac 1/2021
Fingerprints applied 3/2021
Applied for N400 11/2022
Case transferred to NBC 1/2023
Now looking at another 8 months of NBC processing time when I751 at Potomac should have been processed in another 2-3 months depending on timelines.

Don’t apply for N400 if you are already far down the process !

Any updates from Potomac Center?

Here is my status:
Application date: 11/11/2020
Case was received : 11/18/2020
Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken: 03/13/2021

Haven't heard from them ever since. I did not apply for N400 yet. I plan to apply next year.
My conditional is expired and I have scheduled info pass for next week, so that I can extend my conditional card for another year.

Let me know if you have any questions. I didn't use any lawyer for I-485 or I751, it went very well and this forum has definitely helped me to prepare documents on my own and submit everything correctly. Feel free to reach out.

USCIS Extends Green Card Validity for Conditional Permanent Residents with a Pending Form I-751
USCIS is extending the validity of Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards) for petitioners who properly file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status for 48 months beyond the card’s expiration date. This change started on January 11, 2023, for Form I-829 and will start on January 25, 2023, for Form I-751.

We are making this change to accommodate current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829, which have increased over the past year.

USCIS has updated the language on Form I-751 and Form I-829 receipt notices to extend the validity of a Green Card for 48 months for individuals with a newly filed Form I-751 or Form I-829. We will issue new receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents who previously received notices with an extension shorter than 48 months and whose cases are still pending. These receipt notices can be presented with an expired Green Card as evidence of continued status, while the case remains pending with USCIS. By presenting your updated receipt notice with your expired Green Card, you remain authorized to work and travel for 48 months from the expiration date on the front of your expired Green Card.

I just checked and my receipt starts with YSC...That means my service center is Potomac Service Center...Do anyone know how the service center is chosen? Cause Potomac Service Center takes twice as long as compared to the other centers....
