Hi, I just sent my i-751 to USCIS last week, and I got a notification on my phone that. I-797C is mailed to our address. What is difference between I-797 and I-797C? I am not sure that is this mean my application is rejected or is this just notifying me they received my application.
I filed my I-751 application in Oct and it has been 2 months and I still have not received a receipt for my application. They still have not cashed my check either. Is this normal ? Is there a number to contact them ?
I - 751 waiver [Divorced] and N- 400 Combo Interview - Approved!
Hello Ladies/Gents
My Journey has been an unconventional one . This Forum has helped me a lot but I realized there hadn't been many posts about 1-751 waivers and N-400 interviews [Divorced ] so I would like to give back to the community the best I can.
Timeline ( Entire Process) Dallas Field Office in Tx
01/30/2015 : Applied for I-130/1-485 with USC
01/30/2016: Received Notice for Interview
02/11/2016: Went for the interview and was approved
02/26/2016: Received Conditional Green Card
01/XX/2018: Applied to remove Conditions
01/22/2018: Received 18-month extension letter
07/XX/2018: Wife Cheats on me
07/14/2018: Filed for Separation
09/XX/2018: Filed for Divorce but Wife refused to sign the Documents
06/XX/2020: Divorced Finalized
01/12/2021: Received a Withdrawal Acknowledgment Notice
Context: My Wife (USC) was mad I didn't want to give her another chance so she wrote to USCIS lying that I paid her to marry me and I committed fraud so she asked them to withdraw the petition. $680 Down the drain *sigh*
03/01/2021: File for I-751 waiver with the help of a Lawyer
03/31/2021: Received Another 18-month extension letter
12/29/2021: Case is ready to be scheduled for Interview
12/2021 - 03/2022: Absolute Silence from USCIS
03/05/2022: Applied for Citizenship ( Got tired of waiting)
10/18/2022: Case was updated to show Finger Print
11/07/2022: Interview was Scheduled
12/10/2022 : Passed both N400 and i-751 waiver interview
12/10/2022: New Green Card is being Produced
12/10/2022: Oath Ceremony will be scheduled
I am so happy that this is over. I went through a lot of emotional stress with USC Spouse, she was very hateful, manipulative, and abusive. She broke up with me multiple times and cheated on me twice that I knew of and every time I asked for a divorce she threatened to call USICS and tell them i "trained and Groomed her for the interview". It took me 2 years to finally get her to sign the divorce papers.
Word of Advice to i-751 waivers: ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS document everything. from text messages to emails. Every little detail matters. That is literally what helped my case. If I didn't have all the evidence I did, she would have ruined my life. I loved her so much but her true colors showed 4 years into our marriage.
I will try to answer all your questions as best I can.
Hi, Fellow travelers on the immigration journey,
Hang in there and focus on life and let this be on the back burner, that's the only way you can keep your sanity.
My journey started in March 2013 as an H1B, came to Seattle, got married in May 2018
Filed for I 485 (Greencard) in June 2018,
Traveled to India on EAD in Nov 2018,
Got the Green card in 1st week of Nov 2019.
Applied for I 751 Aug 2021
Got the 24-month automatic extension in 2 months' time
Applied for N 400, in Aug 2022 (3-year rule)
N 400 Interview on Dec 2022, but it turned into a combo interview.
Approved for I 751 and N 400 in Dec 2022. Awaiting oath ceremony.
As you can see it took me a decade and I know how it feels to have this burden on your shoulders and this agonizing wait just sucks the lifeblood out of you. As people say anything worthy is not free and doesn't come easy.
A couple of insights:
Don't wait for your Citizenship, if you have a clear case, go for it, and your overall immigration journey will be shortened.
If you have a criminal history or brush up with law enforcement, seek help. Spend the money, its worth it. Seen some cases where results could have been better.
The USCIS office in Seattle has become more efficient, kudos to them. The experience I had in 2019 and 2022 is night and day.
USCIS officers want you to succeed, they are not there to trick you or stump you. They are just doing their due diligence and it's their job performance evaluation as well.
For people working in high-profile jobs (Doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects etc) these interviews are just a fireside conversation because they exude confidence and confidence is the currency of these interviews. Others who are not judged on their job every day may need some help to get them prepped up. So identify your needs and take action accordingly.
And lastly, have patience and keep yourself involved.
Happy to answer any questions as a community member who has been greatly benefitted from others' experiences.

Hello everyone, I want to change my pending i751 I filled jointly with my wife to divorce. We are about to divorce, and I have changed my address. And no longer living together, I was told I have to notify uscis to change my joint filling to a divorce waiver but I do not know how to write the letter, if it's hand written or typed letter and to which address do I address it. Please, anyone who have done so should kindly reply me thanks
Hi everyone, I’m so confused and hope someone can explain to me what’s going on. I filed last week n400. Few days ago I got update on i751 saying case was transferred to another office. Today I got same update saying case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction. Is this a mistake from the computer system or what’s really going on?
