I-407: Abandonment of my Green Card
Hi guys! I have decided to voluntarily Abandon my Lawful Permanent Residence as i gave a birth in my hometown and hence I have been out of the US for nearly year. I am going to fill out I-407(Record of Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status), but is there anything else I need to do? My U.S spouse, my kids and myself plan to live outside of the US for a while, at least 4-5 years. Appreciate any comments! thank you.

Green Card Journey Finally Over
I haven't been much of a contributor on this page...but I read most of the updates. It helped me a lot to relax and ultimately learn to trust the Lord even more as I waited patiently through out the whole process.

Here is my timeline.

NOV 2020 -- Submitted Application for ROC

JAN 4th ---- Received the receipt

MAY 28th --- Reuse Old Fingerprints

JULY 28th ---- Case Approved

AUGUST ----- Card in hand.

It's been a ride but God is faithful.

I-751 Processing Times
Do you know what is the processing time for the I-751? Do you receive an extension for your residence while this is being processing?

Removing Restrictions on Your Social Security Card
If you have a 2-year or 10-year green card, you can remove the restrictions on your social security card. The Social Security Administration is closed to the public, but permanent residents CAN now schedule appointments (express interviews) thanks to a new rule SSA implemented effective May 28, 2021. I called my local SSA office last week and was scheduled for an appointment the following day.

One right as a permanent resident is to have those pesky work restrictions removed on your SS card. One pro is that you no longer have to show your green card as proof of employment. The unrestricted SS card along with a state ID or driver’s license suffice.

What Your I-751 Receipt Number Means
If your I-751 receipt number has the prefix MSC, it means your case was routed for interview scheduling. If your receipt number has ANY other prefix (e.g. VSC, EAC, LIN, etc.), you’re in luck because your case was routed for an interview waiver determination.

Extra evidence I-751
Hi,

I have been waiting 6 months on I-751 application (Vermont SC, last update fingerprints taken)

I m thinking about sending extra evidence that we got in this last 6 months even tough I haven’t got an RFE.

Has anyone sent evidence without being asked? Do think that helped? Mostly is just our new lease, more credit card bills, trips, bills, etc.

Thanks for any answer!
