B1 Approved from MUMBAI!!! In July for 3 months invitation
Hello my dear friends,
I am working for XYZ company. And I have got an invitation from my counterpart company in USA for project work kick start & training.
First I would like to THANK YOU all for sharing your experiences and which help us the people like me to get VISA and which is a big thing. I wish all the people a very good luck for there future!!
I got the invitation letter for 80 days to stay in USA. Initially i throughout that my VISA will not gone approve because of the invitation letter. The first and most important is how is your invitation letter and how short you will stay.
I have done my own preparation to get my VISA and everyone case will be different. So please prepare yourself well and make a question and answers prepared and be confident!!!
VISA process :
1) First I have filled the VISA form.
2) My OFC went well and there will not be any problem to anyone here.
3) The big day came - Interview and I reached 1 hour before and they sent me in immediately inside and my interview is done before the schedule time.
VO : Where are you going ?
Me : ABC, NJ
VO : Did you get hotel or how is ur accommodation?
ME : Guest house (But I lied here very confidently, because I know my company is giving me hotel there)
VO : How long you work for the present company/
ME : X years Y months
VO : What is your salary?
ME : XY per annum
VO : Where will you stay?
ME : ABC, NJ (Just to confuse me and VO tried to check how faith I am with my answers)
VO : "Your going for three months" what is the purpose?
ME : Going to attend meeting, training & requirement gathering for the project.
VO : May I see your training schedule?
ME : Yes (Given to him the schedule of the training. FYI- If you don't have the training schedule my suggestion prepare yourself, well)
VO : What is the training all about?
ME : I explained where this training will help me.
VO : I have approved your VISA
ME : THANK YOU!! Wish you a nice day.

B1 visa rejected ,once, have applied again..wat to do

I applied for B1 visa once on 9th dec 2013.
VO: good morning..
Me : Good Morning..
VO: why do you want to goto US?
Me: I work for ####### and as a part of my job profile as an application specialist, it is my responsibility to onboard new applications. There is a new application that we need to onboard which will help users to #######. I have to travel to US to have business meetings with my counterpart to assess the effectiveness of the application and then to strategize a roll out plan for the application
VO: why can’t you do all the things from here over con calls and net meetings,why do you need to trvale there personally?
Me: I need to travel to US, because the implementation strategies will be formalized keeping in mind the architecture,DB and user prespective and then I will need to test the application keeping in mind the user experience and ease. Which is why I need to be there personally to look over it.
VO: how long you will be in US.
Me: 28 Days
VO: as of now your VISA is rejected , (handed me the rejection letter with 214b )

B1 Visa approved: Chennai Consulated
A big Thank you to all those who have provided their valuable experiences and tips for attempting the B1 visa interview, it all helped a lot and I got my Visa approved in 1st attempt.
Shall keep the chain going on and hence sharing my experience.
Chennai US consulate
Visited the TPL Building on day1 for finger prints and photograph, do not carry any bags apart from document folder as they don't let you inside and there isn't any provision to keep your extra stuff any where.
Day2 was THE day of attempting the interview, 9.00am was my appointment scheduled and the line ahead was not moving as many people with late appointment timings too had arrived early , hence I moved out of the line and approached the security and informed him about my 9.00am appointment and he allowed me inside immediately.
After security checks, entered the building and got a token number stuck on the passport, had to wait till my token number appeared on the TV and I approached the window for interview
Visa officer: Good morning.
me: Very Good morning officer.
VO: May I know the purpose of your visit.
me: To attend Business conference .............
VO: Since how long are you working in the company?
me: 1 year 7 months. (Be precise here)
VO: Duration of your travel?
me: 10 days
VO: Your designation in the company?
me: Sr. QA Lead
VO: Annual Salary?
me : ...........
And then the golden words
VO: All seems good, I AM APPROCING YOUR VISA , Have a safe Journey.
me: Thank you officer, have a nice day ahead.
Be confident and clear while talking to the VO. Provide accurate information and don't fumble or goof-up information.
Practice general questions by standing in front of the mirror few days before the interview.

I would like to list down certain points which are not addressed before in this forum.
I had applied for B1 Visa at Mumbai Consulate and it is approved.
Some Tips while form filling:
Q. What if a mistake is identified after filling form DS-160 but before scheduling the interview?
A. You can fill in new DS-160 and schedule the interview with the new confirmation number.
Q. What if a mistake is identified after filling form DS-160 and after scheduling the interview?
A. You can fill in new DS-160. Login to your profile on www.ustraveldocs.com/in. Navigate to Update Profile on left pane and you can change your DS-160 number without rescheduling your appointment. This can changed only 3 prior to your interview. If you are not able to change the number then you can carry new as well as old DS-160 form and the old appointment letter to the consulate and inform the same to the officer there.
Locker Facility at Mumbai Consulate:
OFC:
There is a Lounge which provides locker facility just behind the OFC center. The charges are Rs. 200. So it is advisable you don't carry any mobile phone, electronics or even remote controlled car keys inside. You can carry your wallet though.
Interview Center:
There are no locker facility near the Interview center hence if you are carry any mobile phone or electronics you will have to wait for a VFS van which is again the service provided by the Lounge which I mentioned above. The van waits near the Interview center it will take you to the locker facility and again drop you back at the Interview location but this process might take around 30 mins of your time.
From the interview perspective I was asked the following questions:
What is the purpose of travel?
Where is your company headquartered?
How long have you been with the current company?
Why is company sending you for the above mentioned purpose?
Total Exp?
What is your role and responsibility in current company?
