EAD received after 171 days
Just want to share my experience here as it helped me to read others' testimonies.

Visa type: J-2
EAD type: renewal

09/06/2019: "Case Was Received"
01/14/2020: My old EAD expired, I had an unpaid leave of absence with my company until 02/12/2020
01/15/2020: Our new DS-2019 were issued (It was not possible to get them before as my wife had a sponsor tranfer). I mail the 2 DS-2019 to the USCIS center with 1 day delivery (UPS).
01/22/2020: "Correspondence Was Received And USCIS Is Reviewing It"
02/03/2020: I created an online service request for a case inquiry because my case became "outside normal processing times"
02/06/2020: Case Inquiry result : "Your case is currently under review by an officer. We regret that we are not able to give you a time frame for when we will complete the review of your application."
02/18/2020: "New Card Is Being Produced" after 165 days.
02/19/2020: "Case Was Approved"
02/20/2020: "Card Was Mailed To Me"
02/24/2020: I finally find my new card in the mail box!! Yippee!! (after 171 days)

I now have to reapply to the company which terminated my contract a week ago because I did not have a work authorization.
The whole process is very frustrating as you never know when something is going to happen. But it will happen, so you need to keep hoping and also keep trying whatever is possible!!

L2 EAD November
Hi

I had applied my EAD application at California service center and receipt date is mid Nov'19.

I had just called USCIS and they are telling that processing time is ~8.5 months which is crazy long.

Can somebody suggest if we should first raise a expedite request and then reach out to local congressman for help or other way around? Also suggest, if there are any other options available with us?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Thanks

Submitting a Service Request
Hello guys,

What happens when you submit a service request? Do you get an update on the tracker for the case you submitted it for?

Apparently my attorney had submitted one for my i-485 as we received and replied back to an RFE in November 2019 and it has been well over 60 days without a response back.

Just wondering.

Thanks!

EAD SSN
Finally got my SSN card today!🙌🏻
Just wanna share my experience about the card.

To all EAD applicants who also filed their SSN with it,

I advice everyone to go to the nearest SSA office the next day you receive your EAD card just to make sure you have a pending application with them. Because in my case I applied SSN together with my EAD application but I haven’t received the SSN at all. Good thing I trusted my own instinct to go ahead to the office and check if I have a pending application 2 days after I got my EAD. The staff says I have no pending application on their system so they took care of it while I was there. I receive the SSN after 5 business days.

Sometimes the USCIS forgot to file SSN application. Sadly, it really happens.

Now I could finally proceed to my job hunting! ❤️
God bless everyone and have a great monday 😊
