H1B Approved in Chennai @ 5th December
Hi All,

Thanks for sharing your experience which really helped me gain some confidence for attending my PAI in Chennai consulate @ 5th Dec 2012.

I had my OFC appointment @ 11 AM 4th Dec 2012. Reached there by 9:50 AM and waited in line. They allowed me in at around 11:15 AM and the Biometrics / Photo proceedure took some 20 minutes. Got courier delivery form to submit in the embassy in case you need passport delivered through courier.

Few details about my background. I work for a reputed MNC with BEP and applied for the same project which i am working for the past 2 years from offshore. Applied H1B(2013 CAP) on June, got RFE on 31st August, responded RFE by october 18th, got final approval on 31st October but with one year validity(never mind ;) ).

My PAI appointment was at 11:00 AM and reached the consulate at 10:00 AM. Luckily there was not much crowd and they let everyone irrespective of appointment time.

After Security Frisking the DS160 Verification took 2 minutes, finger print verification took 2 minutes and went to the other block for actual interview.

Assigned to a counter where already 1 was attending interview and 2 were waiting. Joined as third in the line. Gained some confidence recollecting all the experience I read in immihelp.com. But out of the 2 who were before me 1 got 221(g) for his H1B and the other person got his B1 rejected which completely shattered by confidence.

I got so nervous but somehow managed to answer the questions which went as below.

Me : Hello sir, Good Morning.
VO : Good Morning, can you pass your DS-160 confirmation?
Me : Sure, here it is(Passed Passport with DS-160 confirmation page).

VO : So who is your employer?
Me : Answered

VO : Who is your client?
Me : Answered, but he didnt hear properly. so repeated.

VO : What technology you would use to develop softwares?
Me : Answered.

VO : What is your highest qualification.
Me : M.Sc in Computer Science in India which is equivalent to BS in US(Had to explain this coz my Application was filed under BS degree category under H1 Cap)

VO : What is the work location.
Me : City, State

VO : Are you married.
Me : Answered

VO : I am approving your visa and you can pick up the passport in a week. Hope you have read the Labor rights phamplet.
Me : Thank you very much sir. I already read the phamplet.

It was all over in less than 5 minutes and i just could not believe that my interview is over. Already had the courier delivery form filled, submitted that in the counter near exit with 300 Rs and its all done. I came outside of the embassy by 10:15 AM itself.

Now waiting for my passport delivery :)

H1B & H4 Approved Chennai
I had my OFC on 04-Dec and PA on 05 Dec.

The procedures in OFC center is same as other described.

But for PA, there were no token system and people were manually allocating us towards the counter.
It was simple and very fast moving. I went inside at 10:00 and left the consulate by 10:30.

Questions:

To me, the VO asked only one question about my client name and location.... no more questions.

To my spouse:
- Highest Qualification
- Marriage date
- Spouse's DOB

Thats it.. he said the visa got approved and i will be receiving text messages on the same..

Thanks Immihelp for the tremendous help you provide (esp for my spouse..)

Raje.
