My H1B interview experience
My appoint was on 8th and 9th of November in Chennai. OFC, on 8th, went smoothly without any issues.

On 9th the, the appointment was at 10:30 am. I reached the consulate at 9:30 and I was let inside by 9:45. First there was security check after which they gave a
token number. I waited till the token number appeared on the screen. I went to the counter number displayed on the screen against my token number. The person at the
counter asked for my passport, original I-797, appointment letter and D160 confirmation sheet. She put them all together ,put a rubber band and gave the bunch back to me. Then I went to another building
where the interviews happen.

In that building there were two sections of counters. In the first section they collect DDs if any amount needs to paid (I am not aware fully though) and in the other section, visa officers were sitting and taking the interviews. I waited there till my token number appeared on the screen. Though all the fees was paid by employer, the
counter number displayed against my token number was the counter where they collect the DDs. I said the same thing to the VFS executive present there. He asked whether there was any fee to be
paid. I said, "no". Then he asked all the visa applicants sitting there to check whether any of them have got the same token number as mine because there was a
problem in token system that day. Nobody was there with same token number and then he told to check with the person sitting in the counter. When I went to the counter, the
person there asked me DD from HDFC. Before going to the consulate I had seen all the documents and there was no DD in the documents given by my employer. I said, "I
don't have it with me" then he asked how the payment was made. I was not aware how the payment was made. He asked me for my appointment letter and checked something in his
system and said to go. I was scared that something has gone wrong. I asked him that was there a problem with fee payment and he replied "no problem". So, before you
go to the interview, have knowledge of how the payment is made(Later I came to know that, earlier the payment was made through HDFC but, now it is made online. My
payment was also done online..:))

I went back to the waiting area and waited till my token number appeared.
VO: (smiling) Good morning
me: good morning sir. How are you?
vo: I am doing good. Thank you. How are you doing?
me: good.
vo: So, you work for YYYY .
me: yes sir, I work for xxxx.
vo: who is you client?
me: "Some_Company"
vo: okay.. and what will be your salary there?
me: yyyyy dollars per annum.
vo: okay.. your visa is approved. you'll get your passport in 3-4 days.
me: thank you sir Have a good day

I was relaxed after vo said that he had approved the visa. In my appointment letter, my passport pick address was VFS Bangalore office. If you want to get the passport
to any other address other than the one mentioned in appointment letter, you should fill a form and pay 300 rupees in the same building. I forgot to fill that form, I
remembered it when I came out of the consulate. I used track the passport by sending mail to [email protected] mentioning the passport number in the subject line. Since there was some issue in the systems, I was not getting the proper reply. So, I used to call the help desk(+912267209400) and get the status. Passport reached Bangalore on 16th of Nov(Fri) and I went on 19th (Mon) to collect it. The office is near to the Shivaji Nagar bus stand and opposite of Empire hotel.

Thanks,
Mahantesh

My H1B Visa got approved
HI All,

I had my H1B Visa interview on 23rd Nov, 2012 10:00 AM IST.

It was a very nice experience. First all the document formatlies were over which took most of the time (nearly 40 min). It took only 3 min to complete my interview. I was asked the following 5 question.
1. Which company are you from?
2. Which client are you going to work?
3.What is your designation?
4.What is your nature of work over there?
5.Who is your onsite Manager?

Then the lady smiled and said your Visa is approved.

221g tracking
There are 2 ways to track the status
1) Send an email to '[email protected]' put subject as ppt **** **** * (put ur passport number instead of **** ) and in main body again give passport number and write status update. You will get a reply in 5 mins but, it wont be reliable.
2) Call 01206602222 then press 1 and then press 5 then press ur UID number (find this on the appointment letter) then u will get the status of ur passport. I hate hearing “your documents are with consular post”

first method has given meevery possible answer i can expect including "passport picked up"
second mthod has always given same answer so counting on it to be reliable.

221G White Slip at Hyderabad -- Asks for Cleint Letter
Hi All,

I have been to interview on 16th November 2012, but unfortunately I was issued 221G White Slip for Administrative Processing and asked to submit Client Letter.

Iam from BEP Company.

Anyone who has similar experience can guide as how long does it take once we submit them the required documents to issue the Visa. Are there any negative instances of not issuing the visa.
