Returned!
Okay, my fiance has been back for a couple of days now and I've finally had time to process everything. Here's how his timeline went:

Submitted Paperwork to Lawyer: October 24, 2016. His great-grandma has diabetes, hypertension and is pretty old. He needed a doctor's note, his birth certificate, as well as his mother's, his grandmother's and his great-grandmother's. Make sure your documents are translated and easy to follow - he had to get his translated twice because they were difficult to follow because his family basically recycled names for three generations so it was hard to tell who was who after a bit.

USCIS Received Paperwork: January 3rd (Lawyer INSISTS he sent it in October..we will never know what happened for sure. This was honestly the worst part, finding out that we had to wait yet another three-four months).

"My Name Was Updated" : May 10

Approved: May 11

Received Paperwork for travel: May 27th.

Left through JFK: May 29

Returned: June 2. Plane landed at 1:07 am, and at 2:20 he was in the car on the way home with me! The officers asked him standard questions, and he said the whole thing went very smoothly.

Now, does anyone know if he has a specific time frame in which to adjust his status? Or since he has the inspection now, is he good to go?

AP approval and question
Hello,

I recently got approved for AP. My AP is valid from June-November, but on the CBP use only section it states "parole valid until:One Day. I asked my lawyer about it and she stated that i'm only allowed to leave the country for 24 hrs.

Has anyone had the same issue? please let me know asap, thank you in advance.

Humanitarian Reasons ???
Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories!!

I was wondering if any of you have traveled using advance parole for humanitarian reasons that doesn't involve visiting a living family member. I don't have any grandparents alive anymore but my father passed away a few years ago and I was wondering if I can go visit his grave ?? I would appreciate any feedback, I really want to go visit his grave.

AP Q's
Hello,

I am new to this site but love reading all the amazing successful stories. I was encouraged by them to continue and calm my fears about Advanced Parole.

I had a question though about timeline. I have ready everywhere that it takes 3-4 months and and wondering what those months are like. I recently submitted my application for advanced parole and it was received on April 24th.

I recently checked the status and it changed to "On May 30, 2017, we mailed your document for ..." what does that mean? It's making me worried that they rejected it. I would love to hear from those that were approved how long from the mailed date they received what ever they mailed?

Also has anyone traveled from San Francisco to Mexico? Or would you guys suggest I travel to LAX.?

Many Thanks!

Traveling to Nigeria on tuesday
I lost a loved one recently and the funeral is back home in Nigeria. I applied for the AP yesterday and got it that same day. I haven't gotten my ticket yet but i plan on leaving on Tuesday morning and staying for days, from JFK to Lagos Nigeria. Has anyone here gone to Nigeria and gotten into the country with any issue. I have to get my ticket before the end of today but i am getting different advise from friends and lawyers. I'll like to hear anyone's experience especially someone that went back to Nigeria.
thanks.

My AP experience
Hello, to anyone that got AP approved and is having doubts wether they should use it or not..GO FOR IT! when I first received my AP approval I was so happy but scared as well with everything that's going on in our country right now that has to do with immigration. I also felt discouraged by my lawyer who told me right now it's not a good time to go. I decided that this was a once in a life time chance that I wasn't going to miss out on. I went to my country, Mexico on April 6 and returned on April 11 (5 days). I live in New Jersey so I went through the JKF and it took me straight to Mexico, there were no stops. Returned through JKF as well, everything went smooth. I hope this helps and everything goes smooth for you guys as well :)

Return
Do you think my fiancé will have trouble returning through JFK today at like, 1 in the morning? I'm kinda worried because I assume they will have fewer staff, and it could be more likely no one will know what AP is.
