H1B Approved @ Hyd Consulate On 3-Nov
Hi All,

It’s my turn now to write my Visa stamping experience with Hyderabad Consulate. It’s been so exciting to wait for the time and it’s really went good beyond my expectations.

*** 2-Nov: Bio-Metrics ***

Bio-Metrics is so simple and it won’t consume much of your time. My slot is at 4pm on Sunday and I reached the OFC at 2.45pm. Security people allowed us into the queue at 3.45pm only and they asked me to enter OFC at 4pm after checking the Appointment Letter. Once in, Greeters will come to you and check the DS-160 confirmation page and Appointment Letter against our Passport. If everything is fine, they ask us to proceed further. If they find anything wrong in DS160, there is one un-official guy sitting beside to the building to correct the DS-160. So, don’t get panic if something went wrong with your DS-160.

Later to this check point, we’ll be allowed to another security check where someone sitting with a tab to ensure our slot and details. Then, we’ll be entered into a physical security area and followed by another point where our Passport get attached with a barcode for the purpose of PAI interview along with a seal on the DS-160.

Now we can collect a token from another security guard just next to the door. I entered into a medium space hall where around 10 counters are there with fingerprints machines and cameras. Once we get our turn (TV will show & announce the token numbers), we need to proceed to the respective counters. Officer at the counter asked the below questions:

Who is your employer? <answered appropriately>
For how long you are going to stay in US? <answered appropriately>

Then, officer captured my photo along with fingerprints. He then asked me to read a notice of regulations on the wall. Then, he asked me to leave and requested to provide the feedback in a tab located at the exit door. That’s it!

Please make sure to have the below documents for OFC:

Passport <Old & New>
DS-160 Confirmation Page
Interview appointment letter
One Photograph <Just for safety>

*** 3-Nov: PAI ***

A Big Day! My slot is at 11am and I reached Consulate at 9.40am. Security people allowed me into the queue directly. Before entrance/gate, there is one guy sitting with a tab and checking our slot details. Then we’re allowed into a waiting area. Greeters will assist us to move further to collect the interview token. Token would be affixed backside of the Passport.

Then we need to go through a physical security keeping all our belongings in a tray. Once done, we can collect our items back and we need to proceed to the central waiting lobby. It’s a nice location with a good ambience. A greeter came to me and verified my token and asked me to sit at a place. She has given US rights pamphlet as well. TVs around us show & announce the running token numbers. It took around 35 minutes to get my turn. There are 16 counters in three segments and 2-3 applicants are there in a queue at every counter. I got my chance, here is the conversation:

Officer: Good Morning, Can I have your Passport?
Me: Good Morning. I passed my passport along with I797.
Officer: <She had a glance on the I797 and returned me> Who is your petitioner?
Me: Answered appropriately
Officer: Who is your Client?
Me: Answered appropriately
Officer: What your client do?
Me: Answered appropriately
Officer: What you do?
Me: Answered appropriately <Roles & Responsibilities>
Officer: Why you?
Me: Answered appropriately <Provided my capacity and expertise as a justification>
Officer: How much you earn there?
Me: Answered appropriately <as per LCA>
Officer: In which city you’ll be staying?
Me: Answered appropriately
Officer: Are you married?
Me: Answered appropriately
Office: Highest Education?
Me: Answered appropriately
Officer: Place your right hand fingers on the scanner.
Me: Did accordingly. <Meanwhile she kept my passport in her desk & typed something in her system>
Officer: Do you’ve US rights pamphlet.?
Me: Yes, I hold it and shown.
Officer: That’s Nice. Please Go through.
Me: Sure!
Officer: “Your Visa is approved… Thanks and have a good stay in US.”
Me: <Happy to hear those words> Thank you! Good Day!!

Officer is so friendly and she is with a smile on her face while asking questions. So, just respond with a cool smile and give the answers for the questions in a simple manner. They’re taking not more than 3-4 minutes for an applicant, especially for H1B, it’s so fast. So, it’s a matter of friendly chat!!

Just have all the documents and below are the documents that I carried:

**Mandatory:
Passport <Old and New>
DS-160 (Sealed on the OFC day)
Interview Appointment Letter
I797B (If applicable)
One Photo (Just for safety)

**Supporting Documents:
I-129 Document
LCA
Supporting Manager Letter
Company Appointment Letter Original
Latest Revision Letter
Last 2-3 month pay slips
All Original Educational Documents
Last 6 month bank statement
Last 2-3 year Tax filing slips (Form-16)
Manager Letter
SoW
Additional Project Information (If you’ve)
Experience Letter describing the roles and responsibilities
Resume
DS-160 Screens
Company ID card (Of course I wear it while in Interview)

If you’ve any additional documents with you, please have them in a transparent folder for easy access. Have the checklist so that you won’t miss anything on last minute. Have a professional dressing so that nothing looks like odd. I don’t have any dependents; there would be few more documents required for dependents which I’m unaware of. Please have a check list if you’ve dependents.

Plan to reach the consulate bit early to avoid any tensions due to traffic or in any other manner. Smile and Confidence are the only weapons to get success.

Any Questions, please drop me a mail to *[email protected]*

All the Best!!

Thanks to Immihelp users for sharing the experiences..Here is my turn...
Location: Hyderabad, Time: 9am

I'm not sharing OFC details because nothing much to share there.

Below is my Visa experience.

Counter no #16:
There were 4 guys standing in the queue before my turn.
Below is my observation for those guys:
i. Young guy applied for lecturer visa(not sure about visa type) --> VO(angry young lady aged between 20-30) asked so many questions like
which year you passed out?
What you did after that?
Where are you going?
How much you paid for them?--> he answered NO.
She asked I can find that you took help from a consultancy for this job, tell me how much you paid for them for providing the documents to you?--> he answered NO.
How much is your salary?
Finally she rejected his VISA.
ii. Young guy for H1: VO asked him questions about his employer(who's you employer, client, client letter, project description..). He was not able to answer to those questions properly.
She said I'm not approving you VISA and typed something on the system.
iii. Couple with a kid for H1 and H4-->she asked primary petitioner(he's from ) about H1 Q's and finally asked about steward for the kid. He replied it's okay mam I can take care of him. She replied saying it's not okay, I know how difficult that feeling is. She approved their VISA. Looked like the kid changed her mood.
iv. Young guy for B1 from IBM: She asked him to show some document and he was not able to provide that document. She gave him 221(g) and asked him to submit the document.
He asked her about what is this 221(g) and how/where could he submit the document.
VO replied refer the webpage before coming here.

She signaled me to come forward.
My turn:
Me: Good morning mam. How are you mam?
VO: Didn't reply anything ( She was in upset mood)
VO: Give me your passport?
Me: Gave my passports(Old and new by thinking my B1 VISA will help).
VO: Take your old passport (she dint even look at my old passport and B1 visa at all)
Me: Took back my old passport
VO: Why are you going to US?
Me: Temporary employment with ABCD.
VO: Who's your petitioner?(She's doing multi-tasking)
Keep your left hand four fingers on the scanner
Me: ABCD.
I did scan left hand four fingers.
VO: What is your project? (again Multi-tasking)
Asked me to scan right hand four fingers.
Me: Explained the project description.
While explaining project desc., I scanned my right hand
VO: Who's your client?(Multi-tasking)
Asked me to scan two thumbs
Me: ABCD.
        Scanned two thumbs (Multi-tasking)
VO: Is it In-house Project?
Me: Yes mam.
VO: Show me your project description?
Me: Showed the description (webpage print out..1 page)
VO: Only 1 page? Everybody brings pages together for project description?
Me: Currently I have this document mam. If you give me some time I'll provide you detailed description.
VO: Why didn't you bring it now?
Me: It's a new project mam. We just started the project and currently we're analyzing the business requirements.
If you give me some time, i’ll be able to provide the description. Looked like she's not convinced :(
VO: Who's your end- client?
Me: PQR, a real-estate and construction firm.
VO: Show me the Agreement letter?
Me: Showed Agreement between PQR and ABCD along with cheque paid by PQR to ABCD.
VO: What is this cheque?
Me: That’s is the payment proof from my client for agreement.
VO: Show me employer tax docs?
Me: showed her SOS active status along with IRS and FEIN docs.
VO: This is not I wanted.Do you have Tax documents or not? Say YES or NO
Me: I'll provide you later mam.
VO: What's your salary in US?
Me: $K
VO: Show me all the employer documents what you have now?
(She gave me a tray to put them in)
Me: I have put all documents in the tray and passed to her
VO: Only these many docs you have?
Me: Yes mam.
VO: okay wait in the Lobby. we'll get back to you.

Waited in the Lobby for more than 30 min. After 30 min of waiting, VFS volunteer called my name and asked me to go to counter #Y.
I went to Counter #Y where an Indian officer sits.

VO: Why are you going to US?
Me: temporary employment with Software-Global.
VO: Tell me about your employer?
Me: gave him details about ABCD (Software development and services firm, established, location [city, state], employees, $ turn-over, different clients)
VO: Who's you client?
Me: ABCD.
VO: I know yours is internal project. Who's your client?
Me: PQR.
VO: What they do?
Me: PQR is a real-estate and construction firm based in Texas.
VO: What is your project name?
Me: PQR (confused and lost my concentration for a while)
VO: What is your project name?
Me: XYZ.
He verified it in his system and looked like he found something on his screen.
VO: Okay and wait in the lobby.

After waiting for another nervous 30+ minutes, same VFS volunteer called my name asked me to go to counter ##X( Same counter# where an angry young lady sits).
Went to counter #X and stood in the queue. There were two people before my turn.
i. old parents for B1 --> Interview was in telugu so she couldn't understand Telugu. Some other VO did their interview in telugu and she(Telugu VO) covered the answers very nicely and conveyed the answers to angry lady-->Their VISA approved.
ii. Young guy for H1--> VO screwed him and told that visa is rejected and typed something in the system.

Finally my turn came.

Me: Good morning mam.
VO: still typing something on the screen and didn't reply to me either.
VO: Give me your passports? (looked like she forgot about my case)
Me: I replied saying, my passport and documents are with you mam.
VO: oh ok. Do you have any other employer docs?
Me: No mam.
VO: She collected my docs from another side and handed over to me by keeping passport with her.

Finally golden words came from her. Saying your VISA IS APPOROVED.
I conveyed my thanks to her and left the counter with my documents. I was in shock for few minutes that did I hear it clearly????

Went home and checked the status then it showed ISSUED. Thank God for your blessings.
Special thanks to my Fiancée and also to my friends (including immihelp mates). Without you it wouldn’t have been possible. I’m flying in COLORS now.
GOOD LUCK for others to follow

Suggestions:
Dress up neatly and go to interview. It definitely make a good impression.
Wear your company ID(if its US company, it adds an advantage)
Be confidant. It’s your weapon.
Don’t panic or lose concentration even if VO tries to confuse you.
Be honest with your answers.
Don’t worry about your previous petition status (if rejected/221(g)), bring perfect documentation for current petition.
