Hi All,
I am on F2 dependent visa and was staying in US, but just a month back I came to India and now my H1B is approved. I would be going for H1B Visa interview in few days.
Are there people on forum, who have got H1B approved from H4 OR F2 dependent vias's?
What were the questions the VO asked?
Is it difficult or easy, as currently I am not employed and past 1.7 year I had been doing only volunteering job and free courses, so in my case, I wont be able to show payslip, or dont have any current employer. Just that I got H1B approved through a US consultant who would place me on a client project.
Please advice and share experiences.

First of all Thanks a lot for immihelp for providing such excellent platform which helped me a lot. I felt it is my responsibility to share my experience. Here you go:
On 24th September OFC appointment which will be very cool and like you go and pay in eseva.
On 25th September I attended interview at 9 A.M and I was before Visa officer by 10.15 A.M approximately:
ME: Good Morning Sir
VO: Why are you going to US?
ME: said the reason as employment.
VO: Asked me to spell my employer and kept expression as what is that?
ME: I am little bit tensed...
VO: What do they do?
ME: I explained my employer's business
VO:What do you do
Me: I explained my roles and responsibilities.
VO: By checking in system he asked if I have valid B1?
ME: Yes and said I am working for YYYY company and they processed me B1.
VO: Then Golden words "Your Visa is approved" then I came out saying Thank You.
He did not ask me for any document but to be confident practice and prepare well by arranging all documents and interview questions. Be confident....

H1B Visa Stamping Experience(Chennai Consulate)
First of all I would thank everyone who had posted their valuable Visa experience in this Forum. This really helped me to prepare myself.
My Visa Experience:
Doubts I had:
1. Where do you intend to work(In DS160): Lot of debate in websites on whether to provide Employer address or it should be Client Address. In my case I have provided with Client Address since it matches with my LCA (Job Location is specified as Client Address).
2. InCorrect DS 160: In my case I have given incorrect data in DS160 and Booked appointment with the same. But Later created another DS160 with correct details and took both the DS160 confirmation (incorrect and corrected) to OFC. Explained the Same in reception they pasted with new DS160 confirmation code in my passport. So no worries on incorrect DS160. Just carry both to OFC and explain them.
Today(09/30/2014) I had my Visa Interview at Chennai US Consulate and cleared the same :-)
Just Carry all sufficient original and supporting documents (I797,I129,LCA,Career and Educational Certificates,Client Letter etc). Make sure you are confident about your documentations.

VO: which category of Visa you have applied for
Me: H1B
VO: For which employer you work for
Me: I Work for ZZZ
VO: For which client you work for

Then VO said that magical words YOUR VISA IS APPROVED!! Just read out this phamblet for your rights in US.
Really expected much more questions but they just completed with basic questions, Feel Lucky (Because I saw same VO asked so many questions and rejected two other VISAs L1 and B1)
When I identified They are asking only basic questions for H1B visa(Compared to all other Visa types).
My small advice don’t look after what is happening to other person visa since this will create unnecessary panic (This has happened for me but managed).

H1B Visa Apporved @ Hyderabad
Thanks to everyone who posted their experiences here, they really helped me to prepare well for my interview and now its my turn to share my experience.
Besides the other regular formalities I will directly come to the main phase.
I was called in Window and stood in Queue, attender took my passport and handed over to VO. I think VO is a American Born Muslim because his accent is American and had Muslim type beard
VO: Signalled me to come forward
Me: Good Morning Officer
VO: Good Morning. Your right hand fingers on scanner Mr.My Name
Me: Sure
VO: Who is your employer
Me: Answered
VO: Client
Me: Answered
VO: Do you have client Letter
Me: Yes Sir, I pushed it to window but he did not look
and finally I heard the Golden Words "I am approving your visa" that I have been waiting for long time
As everybody say, Stay Cool and Confident I know its easier said than done. To avoid the tension look at around the people you can definitely find some kids and watch them so you can forget your tension, try not to think about the interview all the time.
In front of me B1 Visa approved and before calling me VO asked the outside attender to call somebody with name YYYY who attended the interview some time back and he said he was not able to approve VISA right now(I have no idea the reason though).
I also looked at other window while I was waiting, VO said to the candidate that their employer provided some fake docs and also employer has some problems and he did not approve his VISA
So Please concentrate on the docs you employer gave to you; If you have good set of docs you will get more confidence.
Believe in God. All the best.
