H1B, H4 Visa

Hi ,

I have one question ,my visa got approved on Fri oct 18 in chennai, i need to collect in Bangalore VFS centre, but still not received any mail or sms from bangalore VFS centre , how to track it, please suggest.

It is very simple process as all said,hardly it will take 10 mins(They will take your fingerprints and photograph).Thats all for the day...you can leave:))

7)BEP cover letter(If your company comes under BEP category).

 Security formalities are as all said...After that they will attach a token to back side of your passport..then you have to wait for 20 to 30mins (based on the rush on that day)...in waiting area....after that you need to go to another waiting area where they will dispaly the token numbers on LED screen..

Once your TOKEN NUMBER called ..(which specifies the window number you need to go for your PA)..
Be careful while listening the token number..you should be very attentive....

Thanks a ton for all your encouragement through your posts.

My interview is scheduled at 11 AM and I am at Chennai consulate by 10.30 AM. There is no point in going early and you will be allowed with those scheduled at your time. At entrance there will be scan of your passport and a number will be stickled on your passport cover. This will be your reference number throughout your interview process. Then you need to proceed to body scan similar to immigration check at airports. Then proceed to bio-metric fingerprint scan and then proceed to interview building.

The interview area is a big hall with seating lounge at one side and interview counters (with VO) on other side just like counters in private banks. You need to look for your number (number sticker no u r passport provided at entrance).You can hear and view conversation of other interviews going on there( in front of you). My turn came 30 min later.

Me: GM Officer.

VO: VGM sir, your passport please…..
Me: Sure…here it is….

VO: So you are working for YYYY YYYY ?
Me: Yes Officer.

VO: Then who is YYYYYY?
Me: YYYYY is my employer in US.

VO: How much is your salary in USD?
Me: $abcde (please convert your salary as per running dollar price and tell on annual basis).

VO: Who is your client?
Me: I would work for my employer on an in-house project.

VO: Who is your petitioner?
Me: My employer is my petitioner?

VO: How much did you pay for this petition?
Me: I am not sure officer. (But better know this information from your petitioner)

VO: Did you pay for your petition?
Me: My employer is taking care of everything including my travel….

VO: That’s Nice……
VO: Can I see your client letter?
Me: Officer as I conveyed earlier I would work for my employer I was given offer letter and later employment letter.

VO: Will you quit your job with present employer once visa is approved.
Me: Yes Officer.

VO: Are you sure? Would you resign the present job?
Me: Sure Officer and yes I am going to resign the present job.

VO: Do you have any letters from client?
Me: Officer as I explained earlier I would work for my employer but not to any client.

VO: What is your highest qualification and your total experience?
Me: M.Sc. (IT) and eleven years of experience.

VO: Sir, we need to further verify your case, so could you please wait for a moment and we will call you shortly….
Me: Sure officer thank you very much….. (I was not given any slip)

After 1 hr 30 min I was called to another counter (not regular one) and same VO appeared.

I am sure that all his doubts were cleared and he seems satisfied at last.

Me: Hello Officer….
VO: Hi Sir, Congratulations your VISA is approved…….

OMG I did it……after 3 and half hours of entering into building all my three months preparation paid at last.

So, friends more than confidence/luck it documents that speak more here and play a vital role…..

Be Honest. Get genuine documents and proof for everything you possess.

VOs don’t reject your visa simply like that. There will be strong reasons to reject your visa and same wise there must be strong reasons to accept your visa.

Let your documents speak for you…….

My h1b visa appointment is scheduled, but i find for the question "Have you attended any educational institutions at a secondary level or above? (in ds-160)" i have mentioned my btech details and details of class 10 th to class 12th.
Just wanted to know if my answer is correct or do i need to change it .

Reached at 7am and waited in the queue. &.45 security check over and waited more than an hour for boimetric. they are allowing who are with children first so delay. I entered the interview hall at 9 am and my token number was displaying. I sked security shall I go he said wait. but one guy in the queue asked me go forward because VO was waiting for a long time and I heard that VO is speaking to another VO like he was waiting for me.

I started running towards VO and greeted him.
Please see below my experience with VO and questions asked.

V.O: Good morning and said waiting for u long time.
Me: Sorry they just allowed me inside.
V.O: No prob. I knew that always there will be a delay in first buliding. Why do you want to work in US?
Me: replied
V.O: What is your employer name?
Me: replied
V.O: Client name?
Me: replied
V.O Explain project?
Me: replied

While asking the question itself he was searching my history in his system. But it was not available :(
He told me to wait and spoke to a lady to update something with my passport and I-797B and gave me the yellow slip.

I was waiting hardly more than half an hour and a guy called me to go to different counter. Their an Indian lady shoots a question like a hell.Mostly about my project.

 It was more than half an hour and asked me to wait again. After 40 min, VO called and said sorry fora long time and asked me to verify the documents which I gave to him and took my passport with him and gave the white pamphlet, So I guessed he approved my VISA :) I said Thank you and have a nice day.
VO laughed at me and i came out at 10.45 am.

In the mid I lost my confidence but I was smiled as if i am getting fear.

It's my turn to share my experience. I had a H4 Visa interview today for me and my 4 yr old son and it went well. Below are the questions that I was asked.

me: Good morning
VO: Good morning! How are you?
me: I'm fine thank you. How are you?
VO: Doing good. Please hand me your passports.
me: Handed the passports (the I797, DS160 confirmation and Husband's visa copy were already stapled to the passport).
VO: Is this your first H4?
me: Yes. I have been on a B1 before.
VO: Please show me your previous passport.
me: Sure, and handed the previous passport and she put a cancelled stamp on my already expired B1.
VO: How long has your husband been working with xxx?
me: nn months.
VO: Ohh only nn months.
me: Yes, he was working with another company before.
VO: Which Company?
me: YYYY
VO: Is he a direct employee of xxx or is that a client?
me: He is a direct employee.
VO: What work does your husband do for xxx?
me: Explained in 2-3 lines about his work. I had prepared well to answer this question.
VO: Ohh okay.
VO: How long have you been married?
me: Replied.
VO: And how old is your son?
me: Replied.
VO: Are you still working with ZZZ (the company for which B1 was stamped).
me: No, I have left my job and am taking a break for a couple of years.
VO: Okay. I am issuing your visas. You will receive an Sms. Have a pleasant stay in the US!
me: Thank you!! :))

I have few questions:
Got appointment in Chennai,
Next week Oct-22nd at 11:30 for OFC and next day 23rd at 11:30 for VISA interview.

I'm going for an H1B (myself) and for H4 (for my wife and Kid).
I have all the docs for myself. (Form I-907-- Request for Premium Processing Service, I-129-- Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker)
But my client did not sent client letter for my wife and kid for H4.

1. Do we really need client letter for dependents?
2. What we need to tell if VO asked for it?
3. What are all the docs required for dependents?
4. I think for myself and for my wife they will take photo at OFC.
5. What about photo for my KID? (Age-4yrs)? do we need to take from out side or they will take in OFC for my kid also.
6. Any specific dress code to attend interview?

Hi All -

My first name and last name interchanged in appointment confirmation. I called VFS helpdesk on this - they gave two options - cancel the appointment or let the officer know on biometrics day.

Is this a major issue - Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
