03-Sep-2013 - OFC was quite casual.

01-Sep-2013 - Interview

1) Is this your first H1
2) Total work exp.
3) Exp with current employer.
4) Who is your client.
5) US salary
6) Where are you going.

Done. I am approving your Visa.

I was also tensed but believe me it is the simple and pre-approved interview. If your case is not in RFE then you already have Visa.

Best wishes to all.

H1B Visa approved in Hyderabad consulate
I was really tensed for the stamping. The following is my background:

I did my masters in northeastern university in 2011. Initially, I had a F1 visa stamp for 2 years. I did a co-op because of which my masters got prolonged to 2.5 years. When I went for F1 renewal it got rejected because the officer felt I was potential immigrant. As I had the initial F1 visa valid for one more month, I came to US with that and continued to stay even after my F1 stamp got expired. After my masters got into Amazon and was on H1B for 2 years. I decided i need to visit India as I had to take a chance for the stamping

With the above background I was a bit tensed for my H1-B stamping, though I was working for Amazon for the past 2 years.

My experience at the embassy:

As soon as I entered, a brief security check was done and a token number was provided. There were a bunch of screens which kept on updating the token numbers for the interviews. When my number was called there were already a bunch of people standing infront of me. Almost all the F1 students visa were rejected, I was a bit tensed. There was one guy who was working for Qualcomm and his visa got approved, I was a bit happy.

Me: Hey
VO: Hey

VO: Please give me your passport?
Me: (Gave my passport and nothing else)

VO: Why are you here?
Me: For H1-B stamping

VO: Where do you stay in USA?
Me: Seattle

VO: What's your annual salary?
Me: Told her

VO: Are you working for the same company?
Me: Yes

VO: Which company do you work for?
Me: Amazon

(She saw something on the computer)
VO: Ohhh, you did masters and then started working?
Me: Yes

VO: Why are you here?
Me:(I was like why is she asking me this again) Told her for H1B stamping. (Oops, I realized she was asking me what is purpose of my visit, she could have been a bit clear).

VO: Do you know what this white booklet is for?
Me: No( though i got the same thing outside, I was a bit nervous, dint want to jeopardize my case, so told her no).

VO: (Then the golden words)Your visa is issued
Me: Thanks(A bit confused)

Me: how do i know when to collect my passport?
VO: You will get a notification through an email or a text.
Me: thanks

Being a pessimist, I was really happy to get my passport stamped.

Hope this information helps other people.

This forum and information provided in it is definitely a boon to VISA aspirants invariably. I was fortunate enough to have come across this well before my interview. The earlier experience of various aspirants serve as a guidance. Here goes mine!

Had my OFC on Aug23rd and my VISA interview on Aug26th at 9.00 AM

We were allowed into main entrance only around 9.15 AM and got to the interview counter at around 11.20 AM

VO : Good Morning! Give me the passport.
Me : Wished him and handed over the passport

VO : Where are you going in US
Me : Answered

VO : Who is your employer
Me : Answered

VO : Who is your client
Me : Answered

VO : What are you going to do in US?
Me : Answered

VO : What is your designation?
Me : Answered

VO : What is your salary?
Me : I wasnt sure whether he meant the Indian salary or the proposed US salary and reconfirmed by asking 'US salary'?..and got a 'Yes' from him. And proceeded with the reply

VO : What is your graduation
Me: Answered

He kept the passport aside and handed over the US rights pamphlet and said 'I am approving your VISA and you vl get it within 2-3 business days'.
Stepped back with a thank and smile to him.

Courier : There is a provision to get the passport couriered to the preferred address and the courier counter will be available at the corner of the room. Persons who dont' have a form already can get the forms from the counter and hand over the filled in form. Of course the courier facility comes with a charge. (300 INR usually)

Ensure to have a cool and calm attitude with confident and sensible replies to the VO.
Never hesitate to reconfirm or ask the question for the 2nd time if you aren't sure about the question. They are there to help us in our entry to US.

Believe this will be of help to other VISA aspirants. All the best!

H1, H4 visas approved @ Hyd Consulate
First of all thanks a ton for immhelp and all members of this forum. It was like bible for me all through out these 6 months.

Went thru all your experiences and prepared for bouncers. So prepared for answers and carried huge pile of documents that are applicable to my case.

I just prepared as if this is end of the world.

May be everybody does the same :)

I have 8 Years of IT exp. and working for a start up. I took my wife and 1 year old kid for the interview.

He asked to pass on I-797 and passports.

Here are the Qns,

1) Which company r u working for?
I said my current company name.

2) Whats your salary?

3) How long have you been working with your employer?

4) Why r u going to US?

He asked the US employer offer letter.

As the US petitioner is different from my current employer, he asked me

5) How did you come to know about US employer?

He took a while to read thru offer letter. And then asked End Client Letter. He did type something and a pause,

6) Which location am I going to work?

6) Whats your US Salary?

7) What's your highest educational qualification?

8) How much total IT experience do you have?

9) How long have you have been married?

10) How many kids do you have?

He gave US RIGHTS pamphlet and said our visas are approved. Not even one Qn to my wife.

Be prepared and be confident. As someone already told better be prepared than sorry.

All the very best for all the ppl. who are still waiting for your visas.

H1 at Hyderabad 20/21 Aug
Thanks to everyone who shared their experience, it helps a lot.
OFC 20 Aug 10:30 AM
As all mentioned, it was simple straight forward, its just like casting your vote.
I went inside at 10:00, they verified by DS 160, gave a token and then sent me inside.
They called my token after 5 mins, she verified the details with my passport, took my finger prints and photograph.
Stamped my DS 160 form and done.

Inteview on 21 Aug 11:00 AM
The consulate was pretty empty, there were hardly any ppl around, i went at 10:00, the security told me to come back at 10:30 so had to stay back and go again at 10:30
Initial Security check, Dont carry any electronic items..i went almost empty handed with documents in my folder and some cash.
After the scan, i was given the token and was sent to the waiting area, after 5 mins my token was called. Had to go to the window and wait for 5 mins and then below are the details

VO: Passport please.
Me: Passed my passport

VO: Which visa you are applying for ?
Me: Response: H1-B

VO: I797 please
Me: passed all my documents

VO: Who is your client ?
Me: YYYY - Answered as per my documents

VO: Place your right hand for fingerprints on the machine.
Me: Placed and verified

VO: Who is you client ?
Me: YYYY - Answered as per my documents

VO: So you work for Company YYYY?
Me: Yes

VO: Whats your highest qualification ?
Me: YYYY X - Answered

VO: Have you read the know your rights booklet?
Me: No

Then he passed me the booklet and called the next token.

It was for about a min.. and i was out of the consulate by 11:20

Hope this helps..i once again want to iterate, its the confidence and the documentation that matters.

ALL THE BEST

Thanks

H1 and H4 Visa at Mumbai Consulate 18/19 Aug '13
First of all great thanks to all the members of this forum for sharing there experiences. It helped us a lot to prepare ourselves thoroughly.
OFC- On 18th Aug
Appointment was at 04:30pm.Reached the center around 03:30pm, there was not much of rush it was pretty smooth.since our 2.5 yr old son was with us so we got free by 04:15pm.Finger print and picture were taken.
I guess for infants and toddlers finger print is not required and you need to carry there US visa photo with you.

Final day-19th Aug '13
Appointment at 10:00am

We reached there around 09:15am
As our son was with us so they allowed us to enter and were given preference at all points. Thanks to my son we were free by 10:05am.
Security check, finger print taken and token given. Then we were watching TV screens for our number to come.while sitting there waiting for our turn we could hear ''Your visa is approved'' of others. We were anxious, nervous but yet confident and positive.Waited for 15 to 20 min and our turn came.

Good morning (no response from her side)

To my husband
VO: Where do you work
Ans: Currently .........

VO:Who is your employer in US
Ans:........

VO:Highest Qualification
Ans:.............

VO:USA Salary
Ans...........

VO: How did you come to know about this job
Ans:...........

VO:What do your USA employer do
Ans:.............

VO:Who is the client
Ans:...........

VO:Your Work
Ans:...........

VO:USA company strength
Ans:...........

VO:Why you want to switch to a small company
Ans:...........

VO:Can i see the employer and client contract
Ans:Given

Then she took almost 5min to check the document and authenticity of what my husband said....typed something...

To me (H4)
Not even a single question asked

then she asked us "have you read this white pamphlet" we said "no". She passed on the pamphlet to us and said "Your visa is approved and you will get your visa in 2 days"
It was a breath of fresh of air for us.We thanked her.My son said "bye aunty" to her and she with a big smile said bye too.

Through out the interview she was serious and was checking confidence.
Received our passports on 20th Aug '13
P.S.- Be confident.Read your document thoroughly.Be precise. Its is better to be prepared than to be sorry.

Thanks
All the best
