09/24/2013 : My appointment was scheduled at 10.00 am slot. I reached at 9.00 am. Before entering consulate, security guard will scan your passport and then will allow you to go inside. Inside security guard will tell you to go through metal detector and then finally they will once again scan the passport and then will allow you to seat in a queue. I was in the queue for nearly 30 mins and then took us inside the room where they first scanned the passport and will attach the token on the passport, Then will direct us to go for Finger printing. Parent with child are given the priority.
After waiting nearly for 30 min, my turn came. Bit nervous

I : Good Morning Sir, How are you ?
VO : No reply

VO : What Job you will be doing in US ?
I : I will be working a a <role> for client <client name>. Then mentioned responsibility in a line or two.

IWP(dropbox) experience
Hey Guys,
I just wanted to share my IWP(dropbox) experience.

I took only 2 weeks vacation, though I qualify the dropbox criteria, a couple of my friends suggested me to go for face-to-face interview since the vacation period is very short. With face-face interview, if consulate need more docs they will hand over 221g etc so that we can work right-away to collect all the required docs.

But i wanted to try dropbox so i chose that option.. I carried ALL the documents mentioned in the ustraveldocs site and a couple of other popular forums.

At the OFC counter, I was asked the following documents:

1. Dropbox confirmation letter - 2 copies.
2. Photocopy of current I-797.
3. Photocopy of previous I-797.
4. One photo without specs. ( I mistakenly carried a photo with specs so I had to go out and take one with specs)

Thats all!

Processing time in my case - 4 business days.
I submitted the docs on Sep 10 morning and i got the email on Sep 16 morning that says passport is ready for pickup.

Notes:
You can carry wallets even cell phones inside OFC but the device should be switched off.
Feel free to wear casuals for dropbox..no one cares.

This is my 5th time that i got Visa without any problem..

2005 - B1
2007 - L1B
2008 - H1B
2012 - H1B Renewal
2013 - H1B Renewal (same employer)

OFC Location - Chennai
Total time spent at OFC while submitting docs ~30 mins ( went around 11 am)
Total time spent at OFC while picking up passport ~15 mins ( went during noon)

Entered Embassy, checked for intial documents and went inside.

Finally got my turn i was little nervous,

I: Good morning to VO.
VO: Smiled and said GM.,

I: Handed over passport & I797 orginal,

VO: Which company ru working?
I: Answered

VO: which company ur going and what they are into,
I: Answered,

VO: What is ur salary there,
I: Answered

Vo: Ru married?
I: Yes,

Vo: Why are u not with wife for H4 visa for her,
I: Told reasons,

Vo: Ur wife shud be upset she is not traveling wit u,
I: yeah she vl come to US after 5 months, with smile.
It was a personal question she asked very casually with smile.

VO: Silince for few minutes,
I: i was worried, and wondering.

Vo: After 2 minutes the Golden Words,
Ur visa is apporved..!!
I: Thank u and good day.

I was little bit nervous but VO she was very polite and smiling,
But when i first greeted her i greeted with smile so she also had that smile on

her face.
Have all documents with u.which gives u more confidence also though some times

are not required.

VO also will be in lot of tensions some times since some candidates irritate

them, so be polite and keep a smile on ur face altough they are in bad mood.

Need to be confident and be truthfull, well dressed and have good eye contact.
I wish all the best for rest of u out there.

I got a 221g blue form at Chennai Consulate, Sept-2013. All the documents were returned and
was asked for a Client contract. But mine is an In-house project and my status now is Admin Processing though
admin processing was not marked my sheet. Can any one please tell me how long does the processing take
and what are the chances of my visa approval.

Thanks,

Help Required - Special H1B case need an expert guidance
Here is my background. (Combination of old experience and had question for future interview)
1. Got B1 VISA (very first time) in 2006. But, No US visit till now.
2. Applied for H1B VISA in 2007 (with AAA Company) and rejected.
3. Applied for H1B VISA in 2012 (with BBB company) and got 221g and then it petition returned to USCIS as BBB petitioner changed the project while submitting to OFC (USCIS mentioned the reason as LCA client name is different from current project)
4. Now, using the petition in 2012 (CAP exempted) H1B filed in 2013 (with CCC company) and the current I129 is approved. CCC company project is an in-house project.

My concerns are:
1. Which documents I need to get from my employer from my case?
2. What are the possible questions for VISA interview?
3. Any risk involved with my case? I want to mention all the details in DS form with utmost honesty.

Thanks, M.

H4 Visa for kid - Drop box experiance

Submited the documents : 16.Sep.2013
Received the passport : 20.Sep.2013

I have a valid H1B visa and I wanted to get H4 visa for Kid (7 months old).
I browse thru internet and found that I don't need to travel to consulate with the
kid for the interview.Children under 14 years can use the drop box facility available
across India ; no need for them to be interviewed. I confirmed this information with
the consulate by writing them an email. The rest of the procedures remain the same.

Fill up the DS 160 form - Pay the visa fee - walk in to the drop box center with the
required documents

I choose to drop my documents in Bangalore. The office is close to MG road and Shivaji
nagar bus stand.Popular landmark is the Empire hotel which is just opposite to the
building where you need to drop your documents. This particular office is in the 3rd
Level. There's a booth to take the photograph and photo copies at the same building
just in case you need it

Documents carried
-------------------

1.DS 160
2.Visa fee receipt
3.I-797 original & copy of mine (principle applicant)
4.Visa copy (H1B) of mine and my wife's (H4)
5.Kid's passport
6.My offer letter
7.Pay slips
8.Form 16
9. Experience letters
10.Photos of the kid

Documents I was asked to submit
-------------------------------

1.DS 160
2.Visa fee receipt
3.I-797 copy of mine (principle applicant)
4.Visa copy (H1B) of mine
5.Kid's passport
6.2 Photos of the kid

I insisted the guy at the counter to include the copy of my wife's visa and he said
its not required. That means you can only submit the documents which the guy ask you
to submit.
