passport renewal of minor
Time to share the experience with the passport renewal. I sent my application by UPS on 9th Sep and got the renewed passport delivered on 18th Sep. Overall great experience, given I had made some mistakes (dob and staying since date) in the CKGS form before sending the application to them.
In case of mistakes in the CKGS form that you can't correct, its easy to cancel your application if you have not already posted it. Make sure you don't sending print the label (from you to ckgs).

Basic CKGS application form question
Hi,
Has someone been able to choose online payment option when they start off their passport application with CKGS ? So far I have done the below steps :
1. https://passport.in.ckgs.us/
2. Passport Application -> Get Started
3. Started filling in applications as an Adult, residing in the US.
4. As I filled through particulars (I am trying to renew my passport), on the "submission and collection details", I selected the below :
a. How will you submit application : Shipping
b. Do you need text alert service : Yes
c. Select Mode of Payment : At CKGS center <-- there is no other option and I can't go past without filling this.
d. Select Instrument Type : Cashier/ Banker Check / Money Order.
I thought we could pay online through credit/debit cards. I am not sure why I'm being forced to pay through MO/ banker check. Can someone tell me if something changed (or) if I have done something incorrect ?

Passport reissue-- DOB change experience
May 22nd – Submitted my DOB change application at CKGS after approval of consulate general of India at Atlanta.
May 23rd – Status was showing under review at Embassy in CKGS website... BTW you can check your status on this https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/statusTracker/trackStatusInpNew website as well which obviously did not know till July 2019.
Your file number is listed on the back of your passport…
June 25th – Emailed Consulate general of India to inquire about my status… They said, your application is sent for clearance at RPO Ahmedabad, as soon as we received positive reply, we will issue your passport...
Waited one more month and then lost my patience…
July 22nd – Called RPO office at Ahmedabad to inquire about my status… I was lucky they picked up my phone after substantial number of calls... They hardly do… The answer was “Your application has just arrive at my desk”
July 24th – They sent request to Vadodara Municipal Corporation department of birth, death and marriage registration for my birth certificate verification.
July 25th – They sent notification to Police Superintendent for my police verification… (I did not understand why they did PV)
July 28th – Police verification was done with my father in india…
July 30th – My father approached Vadodara municipal corporation department..
August 12th --- RPO could see PV and BC verification in their system..
Between August 12th – September 3rd - Everytime we went to office they told us , that we have already notified Atlanta office… But in reality they never did…
Then I got so frustrated and open up RTI , and by September 9th , I received my passport…
Tips:-
• Once your passport application is at consulate, follow up with them and ask the status… They are very responsive and professional.
• If your passport has been sent for clearance in India, follow up with RPO ASAP… They will not touch your file until you remind them at the RPO at Ahmedabad….

Hello Everyone ,
I submitted my passport renewal normal process with spouse name addition and change of appearance.It took me only 5 days in CKGS NYC.
5-Aug: I went and submitted the application in person to CKGS center NY.I booked 9 am appointment and i was the second person in the hall...The token should be taken once you enter the office on the left side black machine.they will call you by token number. Submitting it was over within 10 minutes I came out but 9:15am
5-Aug: your Application is now ‘Under Process’ at CKGS
6-Aug: Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the CKGS Application Center and 'In Transit' to the Consulate for decision making
6-Aug: Your Application is ‘Under Process’ at the Consulate.
8-Aug: Your Application has left the Consulate and is ‘In Transit’ to the CKGS Application Center
8-Aug: Your application with your Passport has 'Returned' to the CKGS application Center and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
8-Aug: Your Passport has been picked up by FedEx
9-Aug: Passport was delivered by the evening.
Attach all the documents in the checklist given to you the CKGS website and self attest whichever is necessary.
Docs for adding spouse name:
applicant self attested copy of marriage certificate.
applicant self attested copy of spouse passport copy.(not necessarily mentioned but it is better to add it)
TD bank will Notarize for free.They are available even weekends which was helpful for my case.
