I had my interview on 17th 8:45 AM slot, and got my L1-B approved.
Here's how it went -
I was waiting first in line, waiting for my turn. The VO i went to, had just rejected the person before me. When he called me, i just didnt think of anything and went to the counter
At the same time, someone came and called him for something ... he went out and was speaking to someone.
He came back and apologized for the delay, and started looking at my docs.
After quick glance through it,
VO : How long have you been working with your current company ?
Me : 4 yrs, 3 months
VO : Do you have a client..if yes, who is it ?
Me : Yes, My client is XYZ
VO : How long are you working for this client ?
Me : 4 yrs, 3 months. I have been working for XYZ since i joined.
VO : So what is it that you are going to develop.. what exactly are you going to do in US ?
Me : Told about my project, then highlighted my roles and responsibilities
By this time, VO had already started tapping into the computer, verified the passport, signed on the forms, punched stamps..
This was a little tensed moments for me, as he was not speaking anything
Then he put the passport and one copy of the petition docs in a folder, and dropped it in a basket behind him
[When he did this, I was relieved as i knew this means my visa was approved]
Then he gave me the other 2 copies of the petition.
VO : One copy is for you and other for your employer. Enjoy your stay in US.
Me : Thank you, have a nice day!
My suggestions and observations -
1. Ensure that you have worked for sufficient time with your client. This is good enough proof that you must have gained specialized knowledge.
2. Please reach well before time, 30-40 mins before your appointment, it REALLY helps... as you do not have to wait long (trust me, it will save you the mental tension of having to hear rejections of others!)
3. Answer only to WHAT IS ASKED TO YOU. Don't vomit stuff about project, proprietary tools, specialized knowledge, etc .. if VO didnt ask for it.
4. Dont sound desperate, dont sound in a hurry, dont look anxious/tensed. Be confident.
Best of luck to all those who are reading this and going to attend interviews soon !
And thanks a lot to this forum, it really helps to boost confidence.
