First of all I like to thank everyone who have posted their valuable experiences. This gives a idea of what a VISA interview really is.

I had my interview at Chennai Consulate last week. I reached there at the said time and went in as usual. It was crowded a bit and I was waiting in a long queue. We can see a lot of counters and different type of people attending the interview. It is better to see them or the news channel that is telecasted rather than getting nervous of the inteview.

Eventhough I say this, I got nervous seeing a person who was standing about 5 persons in front me got his VISA denied. Anyway, I thouhgt of giving it my best during my turn.

Below are the questions,

1. Who is your client?
   Ans: Said my client name.
2. What is your project about?
Ans: Gave a brief description of my project in one line.
3. How long have you been in this project?
   Ans: Said my experience.
4. What did you do when you went in B1?
   Ans: I said my tasks

That is it! I heard the golden words and thanked him and left the counter.

Tips:
Be confident
Be prepared for all types of questions. Remember that you are a specialized skilled individual, so you will not do any coding or testing. Moreover ensure that your answers prove that your skill is specialized.
Be professional. A tie is better.
Go through atleast 10 pages of this site before your interview.

Very important:
Never think that the interview is very easy. It is tough - because your have to convince him. Only proper preparation helps to make it a bit easier...

All the best!!!

I attended L1B interview on Nov 27th at 09:45 slot. I particularly want to post my experience as my earlier L1B got rejected on July 2008 and L1 individual got rejected on Sep 2008.

There were 2 questions asked

1. who is your client
2. what is your role at onsite.

And finally the VO replied that my visa is approved and will get my passport in a week's time.

Have hope and do not get dejected about previous rejections

L1 B VISA Interview got Approved on 2nd Dec
Hi All,
I would like to thank this Forum for helping me to get the Look and feel of VISA Interview.

I had my L1 B Interview on 2nd Dec 10.15 a.m. slot in chennai.i want to share my experience with you.
I would suggest everyone to be come exactly 15min early to the slot ,so that you can avoid standing in the long Queue.

1st we have to give our interview Letter along with Passport and Bank Receipt to the counter then they will seal it and return to us.

Next you will be checked by security person then allowed inside the US Consulate ,where all the documents and files are scanned.

Then you will be entering the waiting Lobby once our slot is called our documents,Photo( Please use recent photo in Application) are verified and Finger Prints are scanned(This takes 30min).

I was asked to enter the 2nd Building, this was said to be the tense moment you can find most of people of your previous slots standing in Queue in front of the Counters. Also you can watch friends getting Rejected and Kids playing and all kind of emotions in one place.

I can find cool lady VO who was happily approving all the application by not taking more than 2-3 mins.
On the other counter its was vice versa the guys was having 15-20 session and rejecting applications.

So it purely depends on your luck.So only thing you can do is u have to impress the VO in the short stipulated time.So go in Complete Formals (Tie + Light shirts and Dark Pants will do the trick).

My turn comes i was bit tensed on seeing the Rejection number

Me:Hello Sir.How are u Doing?
VO:Fine How do you do
Me:Doing Good

VO: How Along you are with this Company?
Me: x Years y Months
VO: Asked to keep my Left Index Fingure in the scanner
Me: Done
Vo: What is your Specialized Skill
Me: bla bla
VO: Who are all your Clients?
VO: Why you want to go US?
VO: R u going to work from Client Place?

Then came the golden words.Ur Visa is Approved. All the Best.
Me:Thanks You Sir.Have a wonderfull Day.

On 30th November 8:45 AM had the interview Scheduled @ Chennai Consulate. I reached there at 8:05 AM to find a big queue and got little worried as the Security Personnel told me to go to the end of Queue and then wait. Dont worry about this as they would come and call you for each 15 minutes slot and would be able to get to the front of the queue. Please carry umbrella as there were drizzles early in chennai.
Please make sure the DD value for the L1B is correct as I saw another guy was asked to get a new DD of 24K as he was carrying a 25K dd.
Went to a counter Following where the Questions:
1. How long you have been working in this company?
2. Who is the client
3. whats their primary business
4. Whats the role that you would be performing.
5. What was your role earlier.
6. On which platform you would be working?
7. Have you ever been to US?
then finally told Issuing your visa. return two I 129's and asked to hand over 1 to employer and another in the port of entry

I need your Passport
On 30-Nov-2009 I have attended the Visa interview for L1-blanket at Hyderabad

I felt a bit tensed when i stood before the interviewer. I got relief with the nice smile from her.
The following conversation happend between us.

1. So you work with ........company. For how long you are with this company?
a. Gave the exact information X years and X months

2. What you do in Us?
a. Explained about the client, with whom i am going to work
Explained about my duties over there

3. What is your specialization?
a. Told the technical skillset i have

4. So many people are with that skill set, why should i send you?
a. Explained about the Company proprietary tools.

She said, "If i have to provide a visa for you, I need your passport"
Then i realized that i did not give the passport to her along with other documents.
I happily gave the passport and she told me that, i would get my passport in a few days through courier.

I came out happily.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please note the following things, who are attending interview at Hyderabad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. If you are coming alone, try to use auto/cab. There is no parking facility near Consulate. Vehicles should be parked at Old airport(Begumpet). It is around 1.5 - 2 km from consulate, and to get the auto (to return back to consulate), you have to walk for 10-15 minutes from parking area to mainroad.

2. If possible ask your friend or relative to accompany you. So that they can keep your belongings if any thing is not allowed inside. There is no locker kind of thing over there. Electronic items, Mobile, USB, CD, Car remote... are not allowed. Try to avoid bags, carry only files.

3. DD should be in the name of "American Consulate General"
The DD should be payable at HYDERABAD. (that bank should have a branch in Hyderabad)
My DD was rejected twice due these problems.

4. Try to have the Cash (Visa fee/ DD amount) in your bank a/c. Incase if the DD is rejected you can pay through cash also. Consulate will not accept any cards to pay the fee. If you paid through cash remember to collect customer copy of the receipt (for reimbursement purpose).

5. If any thing is rejected (DD, Photo..) do not forget to take the Re entry pass. Using this you can enter the consulate on the same day again. No need to use any queue.

6. Have all the impartant phone numbers(your visa processing team, manager..) on a paper. You cannot carry your mobile inside.
