OCI Application -First Anniversary
Yes, you read it well my OCI application is celebrating its first Anniversary today (spouse OCI applied in Chicago) ..

I haven't be able (Consulate, CKGS, tweet to HMO and Sushma Swaraj) to get any update on why is it stuck or what is the blocking point ...

I resent a message to Sushma Swaraj.

I would appreciate if you could share it (might help me getting some attention).

Am I the worst case here, or is there people suffering more than I do so far ??

Thanks for your help

PIO to OCI conversion
It has been a horrible experience to complete the application to convert my PIO card to OCI!

I believed that when I had obtained PIO card, I had provided complete proof of my prior Indian citizenship and my current overseas details and I thought that converting PIO to OCI should be just a formality. I had spent almost 8 hours in understanding the procedure from CKGS website, completing government form, uploading the documents (you need to scan and sign your signature with aspect ration of 1:3 ) and then sending following document to CKGS with $160 as processing fee and postage:
Checklist -printed copy of all documents attached
Printed copy of the OCI application form
Photograph
Additional particulars form
Current foreign passport (notarized)
Green card copies
Original utility bill to prove my current address
Original bank statement to prove my current address
Copies of my current US driving license
Marriage certificate
Original PIO card and self attested copy

After sending my application to CKGS, it was rejected and returned to me in 2 days with the reason-"Incorrect spouse name entered."

On the government online application, you need to enter your parent's name and spouse name. I had entered only first name because website did not say full name or surname. My application was rejected but the person who had rejected it had completed my spouse name with the pen on the application before returning the paper.

My fee of $160 was not refunded and I have been now instructed to file a new application and pay the fee once again.

I do not understand why my wife's full name is required on the application when I am applying for the conversion of OCI card on my merit ( I was Indian citizen myself and held Indian passport for nearly 3 decades). If Indian government need full name of parents and spouse to be entered on the application , the web page should say so!!

We are law abiding citizens, never ever defaulted on anything, always followed the rules and I regard this experience as plain harassment!! Or it may be an attempt to obtain the fee twice for the same service.

Anyway, since we have to travel to India, we don't have option but keep on trying to get the OCI card. I wish good luck for all applicants! Lastly, we want to believe that things are improving in our country but this experience says that we are far from it!!

NEW OCI CARD AT HOUSTON
I and my wife applied for OCI Card and Renunciation on 9/18/18. The status shows " Under Decision Making at Embassy " since 9/24/18. The time required for Renunciation shows as 7 to 9 working days but still there is no movement on it. I thought that Houston Mission is fast. How is the experience of others who applied recently for OCI and Renunciation at Houston?

Thanks

Foreign spouse OCI
My date of Acknoweledgment is Nov 7 2017. My application has been stuck since then. Called CKGS several times and they always have different answers. I went down to the Consulate and they say it is stuck in clearance, waiting to be cleared in Delhi. Anyone else face the same issues? Please do advise as I am about to give up.

What time does GOI site refresh?
Its been 2+ weeks since I applied for PIO to OCI conversion in SFO.

Currently the application is "UNDER-PROCESS" in GOI website. Do you know what time of day GOI website refreshes? Getting hard to keep refreshing all through the day :)

Is there any premium processing available for getting OCI card?
I want to apply for an OCI card for my child who is recently born, but my visa is valid till November only.

Could you let me know what are all the possible ways for getting the OCI card in SFO?

What are all the documents or steps required for getting the OCI card?

Is there any premium processing available for getting it sooner?

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

New OCI Card for Minor at Washington DC
I recently applied for an OCI card for my 3 month old baby. The below are documents that I sent to CKGS office, which were verified and forwarded to the Indian Embassy.

1. Additional Particularts form - Pre-filled form available in your CKGS 'My Account'. Printed, Notarized (not required - but I was extra cautious since it required our signatures and the baby's thumb impression)
2. Parental Authorization Form - Form available in your CKGS 'My Account'. Filled it, Printed, Notarized
3. Photographs - Attached one to the Application Form, Put one in the packet.
4. Parents' marriage certificate - Copy
5. Parents' Current Passports - Copies of the Information and the Visa pages
6. OCI Application Form
7. Proof of address - 'Drivers Licence (Father)', 'Lease Agreement (Mother)'
8. Birth Certificate of the baby - Copy
9. Legal Status of Parents - Already provided copies of Visa. So, no additional documents provided.
10. Checklist - Available in your CKGS 'My Account' page.
11. Affidavit in Lieu of Originals - Form available in 'My Account' page. Checked the appropriate boxes, Printed, Notarized
12. Proof of Indian Origin of Application - Already provided the BIrth Certificate. So, no additional documents provided.
13. Current US Passport - Took copies of pages '25,26,27,28 and the Information page'. provided the original passport as well.
14. Payment Receipt since we paid the return shipping in CKGS website. Recommend doing it to be on the safer side.
15. Bar Code - Printed from 'My Account' CKGS page.
16. Prepaid Envelope - N/A since we paid the shipping online with CKGS
17. Naturalization Certificate - N/A since we are Indian Citizens
18. Parents OCI Card - N/A since we are on H1B visa
19. Proof of Renunciation of Indian Citizenship - N/A since we are Indian citizens
20. Landing Papers - N/A since we are not canadian residents.

The documents are currently under processing in the Indian Embassy. Hope this helps.
