Hi all - when you received your OCIs, did the courier require a signature? Wondering if I need to be home that day.

Received OCI today(July 02). It took 3 months to get the OCI. I have submitted the OCI Application documents in SFO CKGS office on 03/29/2018 in person.

Hello all - lots of good data here but I need some help. OCI re-issue (new passport) finally arrived for my son and is at the DC embassy. I will be going to CKGS to submit his old OCI card.

My son is planning to travel to India on the 13th of July alone (he is 17). Will the new OCI card make it back to us on time? Old OCI CKGS to Embassy, and new OCI to CKGS to me? I will drop off on 7/2 to CKGS and need it before 7/13. Please advise based on what you all have seen.

In case this is not realistic what can I do?

Greetings all,

I received a call for the old PIO card today from CKGS, which I plan to deliver in person tomorrow morning.

Key dates for me:

Submission of hard copies of the application in person at CKGS - Mar 8
Acknowledgement date - Mar 20
OCI printed and received at the DC mission (from MEA Delhi) - Jun 12
Call for old PIO - Jun 28.

So, it took 2.5 weeks since the embassy received the OCI from Delhi for CKGS to ask for the old PIO card. I'll find out tomorrow how much longer. I expect about a week, and this whole fiasco will come to an end.

I'll keep you all posted.

I read many experiences of people but mine I wish to share:

We needed OCI and approached CKGS, they were very polite and asked me to apply online following the procedure. Truly if you follow the laid down procedure things were very clear and easy too. My case I narrate:

We have completed 5 years 22rd March 2018, after Green Card.
N-400 submitted on 23rd Dec 2017 (90 days prior to 5 years).
Biometrics appointment was on 23 January 2018.
Our interview for N-400 was on 29th March 2018
On 16th April 2018 Oath ceremony.
On 17th April 2018 US passport was issued after paying extra $70 for fast process.
On 23 April 2018 Submitted our Renunciation and new OCI card applications to CKGS.
On 26 April 2018 our original US passports and Indian passports were returned to us.
01 May 2018 Govt site shown as Acknowledgement date.
22nd June 2018 Govt website shown our OCIs were sent to Chicago.
26th June CKGS intimated us the OCIs are dispatched to our house.
27th June 2018 OCIs are received at hand.

Hence my advice to all aspirants is not to throw mud on others and spoil their image. No agency either CKGS or Govt Consulates are interested in delaying our applications.
No doubt, I must thank USCIS, CKGS and Indian Consulates in US for their services.
If we all have patience and co-operate with them they will render us a memorable service.

This is purely my experience only and I wish to thank all the USCIS, CKGS and Indian Consulate personnel for their services in my case and wish they extend the same to others too.

I didn't receive the OCI card yet for my daughter. The govt website statuts shows:

Date of Acknowledgement - 23-MAR-2018
Rgistration Status at Mission - WASHINGTON-DC
Documents Printing Status - UNDER_PROCESS

Since its been more than 90 days from the Date of Acknowledgement, I called CKGS multiple times and all I have been told is "to wait".

- Is this normal for Washington DC submissions?
- Is there anyway to expedite this process?

Date of Ack: 24th April 2018, still under process
Travelling to India on 18th July 2018, please suggest if I can go for visa or should I wait for OCI?

I obtained oci in 2007 with oci card and u-stamp sticker. Now i have obtained USA citizenship. Few questions:
1) what is the difference in old oci card and new oci card system?
2) do I need to carry both new oci card ( if I apply and get it) and the current US passport all the time, even when current passport expires?
3) do I really need the get new oci card just because citizenship and passport from US?
4) can somebody share experience of reapplication of oci card just because of US citizensip?
