On April 18 CKGS updated below.

I have travel plan in mid of May, When can I expect the OCI delivery to me. Any one suggest who got it from SFO earlier.

Hello All

Here I am sharing my experience for OCI card of my new born.
I received OCI card in 60 days. Day 1 is when we posted application at FedEx.

I will suggest if you have travel plans please consider 90 days, that way you will be relaxed otherwise at last moment you will be panic.

I mailed documents for new OCI + renunciation on March 13, 2018 and received the OCI card + renunciation certificate on April 16, 2018. I was expecting delay because of several bank holidays and system upgrades. My US passport was returned in a week. Was pleasantly surprised to receive the card in a month. I had an Indian passport valid until 2020. I became a US citizen in 2016.

The process on application was quite frustrating. There are no clear instructions and the process of switching between the government site and CKGS makes the process even more tedious. Some instructions are conflicting, especially the ones about a photo with white background not being allowed. I thought my photo might get rejected. It had a white background from Walgreens.

A couple of pointers for new applicants.
1. Look up youtube videos on how to resize photos for upload.

2. Double, triple, quadruple check the checklist of documents. I included a checklist in my packets . Documents were arranged in the order in which they appeared on the list.

3. The name on my Indian passport is my maiden name. The US passport has my married name. I thought this would become an issue. For supporting documents, I provided a copy of my application for naturalization in which I checked the box indicating my name is changing. I also provided copies of my marriage license and driver's license.

I wish the process could be simplified and centralized. It must be very frustrating for people applying for OCI for an entire family. Why hire a third party when your'e gonna ask people to complete apps and submit photos on your website? It's almost like the process is deliberately made complex to keep travel agents and third party vendors in business.

I have applied for daughters NEW OCI with SFO consulate , below are details as on today.

I see with Immihelp comments : NEW OCI in SFO is processed till 13th February 2018
And OCI In Lieu with PIO its processed for 4th April 2018 also(This is strange for me)

We applied for family, So far its more than 60 days from acknowledgement no status update from Indian consulate website. Waiting for another milestone to cross of 80 days from acknowledgment.

I applied for my son and daughter reissue to a new passport. I applied on march 7 .. the documents was processed from MEA on April 11.. The new OCI card was delivered to HOUSTON mission on April 13, 2018.. The whole process took around 5 weeks to reissue a OCI when getting a new passport...I agree with previous post about Houston mission time...

My son's OCI is still UNDER-PROCESS from Jan-20 2018. I submitted the application in person in Washington DC , don't know what is happening and when will i receive it? Please advise.
