Does anyone know how long CKGS takes to acknowledge receipt of application and supporting docs sent by mail? Its been over a week mail was delivered but haven't seen acknowledgment email from CKGS Chicago nor am able to track application on their website.

GUESS WHAT..THIS IS USA…NOT INDIA ......I AM GOING AFTER THEIR ASS IN COURT FOR THIS….WILL DRAG THEIR ASS AS MUCH AS I CAN…
POINTERS:
1) DON’T BOTHER Mr SHETTY or OCI CELL ATLEAST FOR 20-25 DAYS AFTER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT DATE ( LET THE SECURITY CLEARANCE ARRIVE AT THE OCI CELL IN DELHI…IT JUST NOT GOING TO HELP)
2) CONTACT DEPUTY CONSULAR GENERAL IF YOU HAVE A REAL EMERGENCY OR YOUR APPLICATION HAS TAKEN A VERY LONG TIME MORE THAN 2.5 MONTHS CC TO GENERAL E MAIL OF CONSULATE.
3) TRY TO SEND EMAIL TO THE ACTUAL EMAIL ADDRESS NOT THE WEBSITE LINK…I GUESS NO ONE CHECK THOSE..
4) EMBASSY STAFF AND OCI STAFF ARE NOT BAD. THEY ARE ACTUALLY HELPFUL WHEN YOU ARE IN DISTRESS. THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO WASTE YOUR MONEY…JUST LET THE RIGHT PERSON KNOW AT THE CONSULATE.

Pathetic experience for OCI card from CKGS for my daughter. Started the process in Mar 11, 2015.
03/18/2015 - Your application has been received and is under process in CKGS
03/18/2015 - We have received your payment and we are verifying the same. If the payment made is complete, you will receive a payment receipt shortly

Called them and got a reply that they have sent the passport to consulate last week, but updated the status this week.
The person says it will take 4 weeks to do match-up.
CKGS San Francisco service is horrible.
I see for NY and other they process the match up in same week or same day. NY does this in 1 day.

3 WEEKS of transit time A HUGE WASTE of time and due to that change the already booked travel dates on 05/31/2015 from 06/10/2015 to new date 07/08/2015 after paying good money to airlines.
B). Now Passport Match Experience:
9). Document for passport match-up sent to San Francisco CKGS office next day : 06/06/2015 PST (On the basis of update mention above at step 8 rather than waiting for the email from CKGS. CKGS also confirmed that as soon as status on site update then take a printout and send the printout with passport match up documents rather than wait for email as there are issues of email delays).
10). Passport match-up documents received by CKGS as per FEDEx tracking number : 06/10/2015
11). Now, passport matchup email received and CKGS Status updated as well : 06/10/2015 (Its good we didn’t wait for the email after the step 8 mentioned above)
12). Called CKGS on 06/11/2015 to know whether documents for passport match has been received. They confirmed YES its received and all is well, so now only need to wait UPTO 2 weeks to get OCI and the passport back.
13). Your Passport has been received at CKGS for Match-Up and is currently being packaged for onward submission to the Embassy / Consulate : 06/16/2015 ((CKGS Status), Really ?)

sending documents to CKGS by e-mail
Has anyone successfully submitted documents by e-mail to CKGS-Houston? I mean they suggest sending, but did they acknowledge and accept it? Mine was sent 10 days ago and no sign of them attending to it, the CKGS enquiries is no help at all. Seems like they respond only to the printed documents sent by FEDEX or priority mail. Pl. let me know if others had this problem. Thx.

Overall happy with the way things are turned out.. got OCI on hand well before travel date ( in july first week)
my only comments on this process is
- do they need 1 month for back ground checks for minor kids ? we can understand if children are in late teens . but for under 10 or months old babies? c'mon
- from printed to shipped more than two weeks? ( I heard some DHL issue.. but still this is govt. business,, any issue should be resolved in a day or two .. not 10 days..
Finally, Impressed by the way NYC and CKGS handled the process.. they did fantastic job in processing on time. no delays..
CKGS support people are also good...

Anybody know what is going on with OCI's at Chicago?
Dispatched from India on June 8th. Still does not show as recieved while other consulates are processing OCI's dispatched even after June 10th.
This is very unlike chicago consulate. Any leads?
